No worries Glen, I noticed in Vlads thread that you are after an Airbag compatible bar, my TJM bar is airbag compatible.

I have two eyelets as part of the main plate that goes back to the chassis where the bar mounts. We used these eylets as recovery points on the weekend and they proved to be very strong. They are the same thickness steel as the ones pictured earlier in the thread by adm333, and there are two, each in line with the chassis. Matt[/b][/quote]

Are those plates you mention part of the Bar itself? or part of the winch cradle? (if not do you know if the winch cradle mounts to the chassis or bar?) And do they mount to the chassis directly or to the airbag crush cans?

What I really meant was do the plates mount to the airbag crush cans or chassis rails.

Are they part of the bar or auxillary plates.

Do you have the winch cradle in your bar?

Do you know whether the cradle mounts to the chassis behind the crush cans or does it mount to the bar.

I did ask TJM these questions last week, Im still awaiting a response

Are those lights on your bar Narva Ultima 175's, if so how do you find them?

They seem to be the sleeper in the driving light's at the present, have heard the blue ones give Hela 4000's a run for their money. 8O

The eyelets arent part of the bar, they are a flat plate bolted to the chassis, and then the bar is bolted via 4 bolts to the plate.

No i dont have the winch cradle in mine.

I cant see the airbag crush points you refer to, however they might not have been fitted to the bar as mine doesnt have air bags. The safety label on the bar is stamped as being airbag compatible though.

Yes they are Narva 175's, I find them to be very good, they really make a difference over high beam when turned on. There are better ones on the market, but not for the value you get the narvas. They were on the vehicle when i got it, but I was looking in a 4wd shop and they are considerably cheaper than the light force.

just a quick hijack.....the night vision brand of lights availabele from k-mart and super crap are pretty good and were compared with the best of them a while back...they beat most of the name brands in performance.

at around $100 a pair they are also great value for money, and even have a metal casing not plastic.

back to recovery points...are those jate rings strong enough for snatching a three ton vehicle?
how strong is the bolt that holds them through the chassis?

if i was to fit a couple of those eyelets (the type most semis have on their bullbars) to the front of my bullbar with a thick steel plate behind, will this be strong enough for a snatch recovery....?



i too gotta fit some decent recovery points to the front of lurch after the weekend just gone.....fun was had by all [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif[/img]
