    Questions;

Air filter housing? simply flip it or does it need to be modified?
Oil feed - extra fittings required to T off pressure switch?
Oil drain - are standard fittings used to drain into the hole in block next to the engine number?
Turbo Outlet > Air intake - for the pipe running over the engine, are people using 3" crushed? crushing in vice?
Provent plumbing - also use turbo drain? recommended to get a 4bd1t tappet cover?
    Alternator heat shielding - recommended?
Full Exhaust (3" Mandrel Stainless no cat) - what sort of quotes should I be looking for in Melb?
IMO if you're going to the extent of running a nice turbo its a waste not to fit an intercooler.

I can answer some of them.

Yes, or T off alternator feed.

FYI I'm going around the back of the block, under the air filter.

Provent plumbing - also use turbo drain?
Others may say differently, but from what I know anywhere is fine but you must install a 1 way check valve nearest the drain point, furtherest from the Provent.

recommended to get a 4bd1t tappet cover?
The options I've seen used by people on here are:
Use 4bd1T tappet cover and block the side cover.
    OR
T together both 4bd1 tappet cover and side cover breathers into the Provent.

Full Exhaust (3" Mandrel Stainless no cat) - what sort of quotes should I be looking for in Melb?
In Melb I would say $1000 and up. Mine was about $1200.

Seems to be a bit of a theme running here. I've just ordered the Kinugawa turbo as above to fit to my GS. Just had a couple more questions (which I do not believe have been answered in this thread).

Where should I go to get the turbo manifold in Melbourne? and are they cheaper than the $475 being charged on ebay?

I gather the Isuzu manifold has a T3 flange, so an adaptor is required to marry with the T25 flange on the turbo, correct? where can I get said adaptor?

Just looking at some of the exhaust systems people have fitted to this turbo, some have two separate exhaust pipes coming out of the turbo, while another has a single, rather large pipe. What are the pros and cons of each system?

Finally, the clutch. I take it the NA clutch does not "grab" hard enough to withstand the extra torque of a turboed motor? Can parts in the pressure plate be replaced, or most the whole pressure plate be swapped?

Trying to get all the parts etc. together sorted to minimize downtime as the perentie is my only car.

    Any advice greatly appreciated.

    Thanks, Sam.

    Hi Sam,

    Where are you in Melbourne?

I bought my manifold direct from the Isuzu dealership. It was a bit over $300. I went here and bought it over the counter from parts department:

About us | Patterson Cheney Trucks

It's T3, so yes you need an adapter. I've seen 2 main options:

    1.

    2.

Depends how far you want the turbo to protrude from the manifold. (2) is the cheapest. I have a spare one of these if you want it cheap (PM me). (1) is more expensive but nicer if you're trying to keep engine bay space. Both can be purchased online or custom made if you are skilled enough or know where to go.

Word of warning: if you google it and end up at purchasenet.com.au, this is where I got my version of (1) which did eventually turn up, but it took weeks and weeks.

    Hi Sam
I bought my manifold from nearest Isuzu spare parts dealer, OEM parts easy to come by, also make sure you order the manifold gasket - engine side.. Think this cost me approx $325-350.

The t3-t25 adaptor i used was bought via ebay see below link, theres plenty of clearance under the bonnet for it.
    T25 T28 Turbo Flange TO T3 Turbo Manifold Flange Adapter Conversion GT25 GT28 T3 | eBay

With regards to the exhaust, you need to buy the adaptor plate for after the turbo, it has two holes one for the main exhaust flow, the other is a hole for the waste gate. For EPA you need to have this plumbed back to the exhaust. (other wise it sounds awesome as the waste gate opens you get a nice scream - hence when not plumbed back they call it a screamer pipe.)
No real difference if it is split into two pipes and joins up later or is just one large pipe.
Just depends on what your exhaust guy can do. But you want a minimum 2.75" preferably 3" all the way back.

With regards the clutch, my understanding is the spring plate has to be replaced with the turbo/6x6 variant.

    Perentie turbo project

I've got the genuine Isuzu truck turbo pressure plate on my county. Pretty sure the p/n is in the part number sticky thread. The friction plate is the LT95 LR one. A number of others are using aftermarket clutches - from "Extreme" IIRC.
Just be aware that there are 2 different diameters of truck clutch, 275mm and 300mm - Landies have the smaller one.

300mm clutch was used on the truck engines from about 1988 onwards. 1985-1987 truck 4BD1T engines (like mine) use the same 275mm clutch and it holds up fine.

Thanks for all the tips people.

I have the manifold on order from Westar and the turbo adaptor is on its way from a fellow AULRO member. Luckily managed to get the post-turbo flange added to my turbo order, along with a few actuator spring so I can filddle around with boost pressures.

Too late for any advice as they are already on their way, but has anyone had any experience with "Autometre" gauges. They are a little on the pricey side ($220 for EGT and $100 for boost gauge) but I figure good gauges are cheap insurance when you're playing around with boost and fuelling etc. They are made in USA and look fairly similar to stock gauges already in the dash.

My plan at the minute is to fabricate my own exhaust section to mate the turbo up with the existing exhaust system, probably with a flexible section to make it easier to join the two. Might fit a bigger exhaust system later, but at the moment just looking for a fairly conservative set-up.

Looking forward to getting stuck in to it.

    Cheers, Sam.

Too late for me too, but I do love the dual boost/EGT ones with boost dial and EGT digits. The site says EGT in F though. If they could do that in C I might find myself still purchasing!
