Water Ingress - Wet Headlining

What are other people's experience of where Discos body may leak water when it rains, as well as the solution to fixing the problem - besides not getting it wet. (I have to be very specific about leaks on British cars, don't I!!)
Yes, this question is due to some water smells in the car right now, after SE Qld had a bit of rain - no wading involved, so the water is coming down from the sky only. It has only started to leak / smell after nearly three years of ownership, so the problem has manifested itself recently.
All cars seem to have common water leak issues - eg the disco if the wiper / plenum chamber cover is not there - BTW I'll have to look up to see if there is a solution for this besides reinstating the cover.
For example, my 1998 Mazda 323 has an area that cracks due to poor design and the water comes in only when you use the clutch (common problem) and also a bracket on the back bumper opens up the double weld over time; Honda GD Jazz sealants crack around the rear hatch opening where the two panels are welded together etc. It's knowing where to apply some sealant or other solutions that I'd like to compile, as knowing what to look for makes the job so much quicker.

Hunt down the Water Ingress Manual. I think I posted it in the Files area.

I had the problem of the hoodlining getting wet in the front corners. Had the windscreen removed and resealed as a result........didn't fix the problem.
After pulling the hoodlining down again and found that water was coming in above the front corners of the glass.
Ended up being a problem with the sealant that LR use in the gutters. The sealant had dried and lifted from the front corners of the gutters exposing the join of the three panels (roof, turret frame, A-pillar frame).
Removed the plastic gutter trim and the outer a-pillar trim and dug out about the first 30mm of the sealer from the gutter at the very front ends above the windscreen. After cleaning and drying filled the area with black sikaflex.
Presto.....no more wet hoodlining
Oh and then the a/c drains blocked up and flooded the carpet, bloody land rovers.
