What happened to your Discovery 2 today?

The green is the fluro dye every car air con mech uses.

Tape up the offending fitting and hose really, really well tonight.
The bloody PAG oil used by the Japanese compressor manufacturers is highly hygroscopic, it's pretty much toast in well under fifteen minutes exposure to the atmosphere.
When I use POE oil I purge the can with dry nitrogen immediately and PAG is worse.

[edit] Because of the water solubility you might only need water for cleanup. I've never really played with PAG's.

currently in melb. was slight above 20 but your point is taken. strange that its lasted 5000km and didnt pop sooner. then again, the compressor was replaced under warranty 2 weeks ago, maybe something was changed.

i thought the dye was uv?

i think the compressor is american, not Japanese. i suspect its knock off and not genuine, so i might take another look at it.

Yep, you use a black light with the dye but it's bright green !

I forgot you have the Chev now. Not sure what the compressor would be ?

i'm not too what what i have now to be honest. i think its Delphi . its something quite generic and common.

Woke up. Father Landroverbirthdaychristmas got me a stylish new cap so Gary and I have matching Land Rover badging.
Then we went on a little beach driving adventure at Wilbinga, north of Perth for the day. Gary acquitted himself well amongst the mostly Toyota field (with one Isuzu Wagon and a Pajero for good measure).
