I have read the blurbs and that is what elring themselves say (leave dry) as it apparently has a coating already applied.

Having said that I have also used copper spray on metal and composite gaskets since the day I found out the stuff existed and have never had any issues. I even have copper sprayed and re used Monotorque and normal composite head gaskets on the old holden donks both 6 and V8 and no issues.

It will be a few days b4 I clean the block surface and start to put it back together and the hylomar spray was an impulse buy to try out on a few other jobs so it is more a thought process at the moment. I am an opinionated type and I like to be backed up by my personal real world experience so if I spray it anyway it will be a ' let's see what happens' learning curve and I have the advantage of tools and mechanical nouse so am not at the mercy of a workshops' hourly rate if I screw it up and have to redo it.

Some engine builders even separate the gasket layers and spray the hylomar (very lightly) on each layer.

Yeah mate all good, have one as part of my kit. Never been a fan of loading up one side of the chassis rail in any vehicle. Makes me cringe when i see people snatching really hard off of single points What happened to your Discovery 2 today?

Well done, I'll have to order some for when I repair my plenum cover. Need to sort the leak from the top of windscreen first tho...

Finally got my own nanocom as someone locally was selling one, it's a V8 but still cheap enough to get a td5 unlock code.

    That's a good question.

if I can get a day where I don't leave for work and get home in darkness, I'll have a peek at what it uses by comparison. I have my D2 parked next to the D1 so easy to compare sizes and stuff like that.

But, just roughly thinking off the top of my head, I'm pretty sure the D1 plenum is a totally different design at the windscreen end, so I'm currently thinking ... no.

D1 plenum is different from memory.
