Yet just another case of "grandstanding" by Morrison which is actually hurting the thousands of Australians trying to get back home because for every Kiwi that has to enter quarantine there is an Australian that will miss out, Unbloodybelievable arrogance on the PM's part.

Stevie Marshall has just opened SA's borders to NZ, 12 kiwis in quarantine in SA released forthwith. He is asking NZ to reciprocate. Of all the states, SA would have the best chance, having quite a 'clean' record.

In saying that, NZ has just brought in a plane load of Russian seamen, to staff our 'parked up' deep sea trawlers. (no kiwis qualified to sail them apparently???).... 12 of them have tested positive in quarantine....although they were all 'negative' before they departed for NZ.

Just goes to show, complacency can be russian roulette.

Latest update as at 1pm, 18 infected Russian seamen. They are part of a cohort of 237 seamen imported last Friday. They apparently did two weeks self-isolation, and were tested three days before the flight but that was delayed a day so 96 hours preflight test. Two were found positive and denied boarding.

It was a consortium of three fishing companies that privately bought these guys in working with the NZ Govt.

In other news, the port worker infected here as a community case alluded to in an earlier post was an electronics engineer contracted to work on various ships around NZ while berthed. Two work colleagues have since tested positive and are in quarantine. The boat they suspect the electrics guy was infected on is now at Brisbane - the Sofrana Surville. There are indications in the media the crew is being tested by Aust authorities and the results will be forthcoming. The genome sequence of the port worker is new to NZ and not associated with any other case here.

Yes you are correct it was Not NZ wish , i was just using it to expand on what is starting to Morph into some sort of the idea that the problem has gone away in Oz , & a lot of the population/business is demanding change to be able to move around and or operate more freely .

I just look at what has happened elsewhere in the world and wonder how we are different to them in controlling less restrictions as most over there appear to be going back into lock downs and Hospitals becoming crowded .

WA at the moment has a problem with infected ships crews , like wise your Russian crews . Anyway its only my point of view and can only go along with the flow but wont be treating this thing as over .

Well no - just the Lack of Democracy Republic of WA - anywhere else the Kiwis do not count towards the arrival restrictions.
