Yes, that is the plan. Seller said previous owner had the trans serviced but no document evidence of that one and still has plastic pan, so will be straight to my indie to book her in when it is officially mine.

I suppose that was after the pic on here somewhere where it fell off the jack?

Yes that would put anyone off using the crappy jack that JLR supply with their vehicles these days.

FWIW,i wonder if the new defender will have a proper jack?

So... straight after that little incident a bottle jack was suitably acquired What happened to your D3/D4 today?

Then I was playing in the shed one day and had to change the wheels over to the new ones. I grabbed a suitable piece of steel and placed it under the LCA of the wheel I wanted to remove and simply lowered the vehicle.
The wheel then lifts from the ground. Simple as!

    ??

So you basically put something solid under the lower control arm and put the vehicle in access height? Does that work, and do you need raised height to start with our normal road height?

I haven’t tried this but it sounds much easier than using a jack

It is. If I could figure out how to reliably make it work with all 4 at the same time it'd make rotations and brake bleeds a complete doddle.

Going through my head right now is how to engineer a metal tripod that would fold flat enough to occupy the jack space in the rear, but still be a bit adjustable. Maybe some heavy angle...

I’ve been working on the same thing. Haven’t quite got there yet!
