Yep a few rambles is about right. They need to start winding the market up and do a few teasers. Time to give away something at least. I imagine TJM and ARB will be getting specs and drawings from LR well before the first vehicles arrive here.

Yes it's not their first Rodeo but they have never had such big shoes (and a lot of legend not always equated to reality especially in the Puma versions) to fill and expectations to meet. Never. So I reckon they will have a lot of internal disagreement about everything from wheel and tyre sizes to how best to manage the release and marketing.

    Cheers

PS. If only they had the AULRO experts to set them straight Won’t be retro...Won’t be retro...Won’t be retro...

With the TJM and ARB thing, is that how they usually work? I guess that's what happened with suzuki?

You might be right actually, seems to be a normal wheelbase RRS there aswell, maybe 2020 RRS testing at same time.

“Blah blah blah Rambles blah blah blah”

    Just ask my loverley wife
That is my existence in summary!!!

I still think JLR need to start owning this

And I disagree - this is the first time they have ever tried to leverage 60 years
Of motoring history into a new vehicle

Every other time was something different

The new defender must have the DNA of the old defender / series
    Or else JLR is dead....

    Well dead to me anyway

    On this, a few things:

Thoughts on JLR being at Moab around the same time as EJS (Easter Jeep Safari)

Regarding actual facts, if you have been following this thread, there is really not much we haven't been able to accertain fundamentally, just the style and minor details.

I believe they are doing a slow reveal and for two reasons

    1. Viral marketing, gets people talking. Tick

    2. Keeps the Chinese from copying it like they did with the Evoque/Landwind (this would be the main reason they don't reveal cars well in advance anymore.) Tick(maybe)

The 90 looks, sounds and performs pretty defenderish in the moab video, even low range looks on point. Ramble over Won’t be retro...

New Range Rover models illustrate Land Rover's design ethos - Autoblog

Land Rover Creative Director Massimo Frascella

"Defender is going to be a very different vehicle from both Range Rover and Discovery," Frascella said, adding that it will be distinctive from both families of SUVs. "By nature it's going to rebalance the whole strategy."

Rebalance the whole strategy. Now I understand what the new Deefer will be...

    Cheers

PS. sarcasm aside (or adding more) I think rebalancing in this context means having a proper roofline again instead of one that satisfies looks and a wind tunnel and allows a decent load space (as well as having a reasonable line for a roof rack to follow...ie very different to the way LR are going with their other offerings).
