Other than a newer RRS all other LR products are off the list - must be a proper 4wd and not look dog ugly like the D5. For me I could never see the value of a new Puma - big dollars for rippled panels and leaks worse than a convertible with the top down.
People have been lamenting that the new Defender will not be like the old one but really in my view the old Defender was a dinosaur that should have been pensioned off 20 years ago. I think LR would have been silly to stay with something along the old theme and what I am seeing with the pics of the mules and recent Invictus pics of the new Defender is a welcome relief for me.
So as long there will be different trim levels and at least some goodies in it, I would certainly have a look at it for my new vehicle. Too early just yet but things are looking promising.

I am in almost exactly the same boat as Garry, except I've had my L320 for less time and am not quite ready to upgrade. I am eyeing off this new Defender as a potential addition at some time. The rest of the range doesn't fit my brief (capability plus comfort plus decent tyres plus a bit of boxiness), but I think this one could. No V8 will be a bitter pill to swallow, but a stonking blown straight six may be a reasonable consolation in this day and age. They can keep the threes and fours for other vehicles in their range. Needs to have six pots or more to get that refined smoothness expected in a modern (luxury) offering. I drive highly boosted fours daily and getting back into the TDV8 is a revelation each time. So smooth. I know the V6 is similar in that regard. Four pots being stuffed with 54psi of boost give great numbers, but lack refinement. Bring on the Ingenium six... please.
