How I haven't been booked in the last eight years for the copious clouds of soot the old girl emits on no/low boost I'll never know.
Because there's always a nissan diesel around the corner blowing more?

Yesterday took my 110 for a longish run. First picked up my sister from her daughter's place (she no longer likes driving long distances at night). As I pulled up, my niece ran out and said "you car smells hot!". I could smell it too. New muffler.

We then drove to Merrygoen for afternoon tea with another of my nieces and her husband, then into Mendooran for the annual concert by the Mendooran Singers, in the town's art deco hall. Drove back, leaving at 2230, the first real test of my new LED driving lights I put on just before daylight saving started. They work well, although I think I need to aim them very slightly higher. Sighted no roos until I was on my place, where I saw about twenty. All up, 175km, and, as expected, the 110 had no issues - not all that bad for over 590,000km and 29 years.

Replaced the rear sway bar rubbers and links on the D1. Darn links were in upside down and the rubbers were absolutely trashed. Dunno how they got that way.
Fitted a light bar to the roof rack. Going to run the wiring up through the snorkel when I find the right grommets to seal it all up.
    Looking for an intercooler.

Hooked up some plugs to the new AGM in the rear shown in a previous post. Fitted a cigarette for the fridge, Anderson for the solar panels when camping and a USB. They all run to a circuit breaker for added protection. Decided to hide the lot in the battery compartment and then run leads to connect as required. Fits with my strategy to keep George looking as standard as possible.

    1. Replaced the air plenum and did the mod to the heater air intake to stop water ingress to passenger footwell. Actually quite a straightforward job, the plenum went on without having to remove the windshield side side finishers which I was dreading. Took the bonnet off to improve access.
    2. Cleaned up some redundant auxiliary wiring that was a result of moving my aux battery to the rear cargo space.
    3. Took a couple of thread turns on the turbo boost adjuster thingy.

Had the aircon fixed, sorry tale with 2 attempts by a recommended mobile bloke who stuffed the seals on the original compressor looking for the leak, then a replacement 2nd hand compressor and lastly an overhaul by the stealer who found the evap/condenser was leaking.
Not bloody cheap but at least it's guaranteed for 12 months.

Drove into town today. On the way back, just where I turn off the bitumen, there was a Series 3 wagon parked by the roadside with the driver just climbing in, so I pulled up to have a talk to him. It turns out he is a farmer from near Wellington. He drives a Landrover because it was cheap, but says he doesn't think much of them - although he has driven this one for twelve years!

Doesn't use the internet so not interested in AULRO.

The Series 3 is a six, still with the original motor, and he has stripped out all the seats except the front two, to use on the farm. It appears to be, and he claims, rust free. He paid $1000 for it twelve years ago! (In NQ)
