Bending back the Tang and one has cracked. One on the smaller spring.
Can I weld these or do I need to make a new one and try and rivet back to the spring.
Could drill out countersunk side tap out, make new Tang, pin back in, weld countersunk, then grind flat ????
    Any other ideas please.

I'm afraid your meaning is unclear - what do you mean by "tang"?

You can weld anything on the spring except the spring leaves, provided you do not get the spring leaves hot enough to affect the temper.

Probably best to make a new one as I would imagine it will break again on the weld.
They should be heated before you bend them or straighten them.

    Cheers, Mick.

Have repaired It. Weld on the Inside. bent back then weld on the outside and peened with a small ball peen hammer, grind then re weld and ball peen again.
    See how it goes.

    Started looking at the diffs.
The front and rear have the same backlash on the drive shaft.
hole set at 12.00 both move to 1.00.
how much movement on the shaft, is normal.
    Thanks.

That is probably about normal. Certainly nothing to worry about unless it is all in wear on axle splines (unlikely).

There are a number of places where there can be some free play - both ends of both half axles, end play on planet gears, on the spline on the input flange (should be none there), pinion or side bearings (but any free play in the pinion bearings can be felt by trying to move it side to side, and free play on either set of bearings will make the diff very noisy).
