have you sold those landys for scrap yet:o...you keep saying they are worthless...
I have an idea... sell them to me and I can sell them back to you when you realize they are the easiest vehicle to work on and get good results and a bloody good working vehicle:D
You probably didn't read my thread a few weeks ago that 'zara' was cactus
and harry was going to sell her:(...we persevered and replaced the dizzy, carby and she still was not good.. but after blowing smoke and backfiring she has come good..took a week or so...seems a bad batch of fuel is all we can think of..she is runnng sweet again,
Keep thinking ahead and you will find an answer I am sure;)

Well the green one is off the road still ,, Parked up the back, I did change the dizzy & set the timing & still runs like a dog on snow..We have booked it into the garage just round the corner he has owned heaps of landys ,Actualy he was one of the first to put the holden in ..He's going to chuck it on the dyno aswell. He said to Karen he would ring to let us know what it is Karen told him that my answer would be just ring me when its running perfectly & your finished LOL..Karen did say she used a differant fuel to what she usualy does so maybe that could be it..Only problem is it doesnt go round to be fixed till next Thursday :(..Karens boss has lent her one of the vans for work for a little bit..Karen has had enough of working for this lady as Karen surplies most of her on stuff plus the cost of running the car all the other cleaners have vans..Plus Karen worked it out she gets more if she just does her cash jobs & only has to work 2 days for just a tad more then she gets now..I'm not happy with myself for not fixing the green one BUT i have just had enough so i let someone else do it this time which is a first as i dont like other people playing with my car , So many people get ripped off cause the shop says they did this & that but actualy didnt do a thing..I do miss working on others cars a little as it broke up my days & weeks..Have found a place to put a veggie garden but were not sure what to do here.. We have been looking at houses in NSW all over the place . We pay $300 a week here but have found better houses with garages for less then half that.. Just as an example there was a 3 bdrm house with big garage nice flat yard walking distance to everything ( not that i'de walk anywhere ) bout the same age as this house but in better condition & was only $150 a week, It was at Cowra.Have found lots in central NSW for even less & better then this house..So were not to sure what to do about it as the cost to move we think could get quiet expensive..
But not happy cant get me car done till next thursday i stuck at home till we get it back :(:censored::(:censored::(:bat::soapbox::woot:
But yes Mrs H scrap is looking good..
Would'nt be so bad if we still had the 2 cars..

Mrs Aus, was in Cardiff having tests done on her hip at the X-Ray joint and she just ducked in for something quick to eat and get back. She saw the Green Machine but she says tell Fred she is sorry she didn't recognise her as she was in a hurry and her mind was on the tests.!!:) They injected this goop into her and then she had a Bone and a Cat Scan, so tell Fred she apologises most sincerely!!:)We know Fred is shy but tell her to always say "hello", it is most welcome!!

Hey Banjo.
Any chance that "different fuel" that Karen put in the Landy was diesel????
Worth getting some out of the tank to check.
When we had a Tryton, the Mrs said she was off down to the roadhouse to get some petrol.I asked why,she said it was empty in one of "those" tones.I poited out that in the 6 years we have owened it the preferable fuel to tip into it was diesel. She rang up 15mins later to tell me she just put 60lts of petrol in it.NO SHE ISNT BLONDE!!!!

Hey Banjo, just had a thought. Maybe you've got some crud in your fuel tank. I once got some flakey paint (from old jerry can) into my tank. Would be fine and then it would block the pick up and engine would hickup or stall. Stop and the paint flake would float away and then it would run fine.
When we drained the tank got a half a handful of flakey paint and was fine after that.
I've heard of leaves doing a similar thing.
Anyway hope your mechanic finds problem.:)

Well the mechanic rang yesterday arvo, News not good the carby is had it completely & is $465 to have it rebuilt plus still needs the tune up plus parts..Told him it aint a race car so doesnt need the 350 holley on ,, so they going to see what they can get for a replacement maybe an original verajet or something..There going to ring us back today to let us know what they find..So looks like late next week before we see the car back..
I think today is Karens last day at work to..I JUST WANT MY CAR BACK..
We rang around yesterday after the shop rang & get get a brandnew holley for $425..But it doesnt need such a big carby on it so will just have to wait see what they come up with..

Was getting a bit worried about you & was just saying to Karen i'll have to give Jim a ring tonight see if he & the family are all right & as soon as i said it the email came through saying you posted..Glad to hear that its only a computer problem . Hows work been ?..
Well for us its been a tad difficult at home now as Fred has now signed out of school & has no idea or inclination in doing anything & just sits around the house all day every day..She has some anxieties to deal with aswell like me but not as bad as me so not sure how where going to proceed with the issue yet , She has to sort out all the centre link stuff & go to one of those job centres where they help you get work or to do courses. But the problem is getting her to do this stuff on her own with out Karen or I holding her hand & as karen is working & we only have the one car now she is going to have to start catching buses on her own to get to these places..Its a big worry for Karen & I at the moment ..Fred thinks I just sit around & am just the house bitch & thats all i do & to some degree i spose she is right as since we have moved to this house i havent had to much work in that I havent been able to do to many peoples cars i usualy do alot of services or panel work plus making prts for others Plus i still get some trucks here to do work on..Once Harry finaly does get done i'm going to have heaps of work PLUS most of the trucks i used to work on or wash & grease weekly the owners are screaming for me to come back BUT i have to have Harry on the road before i can think of that as i need me tools & other stuff for that & i only do them from friday afternoon till sunday afternoon , Usualy on friday from about 4 till midnight & satdy & sundy from about 8am till about 8 pm & thats enough to give me a wage (cash in hand from $50 an hour) that was with Karen helping so we didnt have to pay someone else all the money was coming into the house as such.I didnt have enough time to do all the trucks i had to do on my own thats why Karen helped plus i only had that time to use the pit as the company had there own trucks to do threw the week & i couldnt use it then..I would like to go back to doing them but i realy have to have Harry on the road for that..
Have been busy on another thread that is taking much of my time, so am behind on this one.
Fred needs an old Land-rover to own and do up with Dad's help. She may get enthusiastic and learn how to fix her own car, which could be good for her later.
Hitchhiking a number of years ago, I got a lift with an 18 year old girl with a Baby.
She had grown up on a farm, but her dad had taught her brothers to weld and do mechanics, but not her. So while on the dole, she went to a garage and said, I will work for you for nothing if you teach me how to fix cars.
She can now strip and rebuild a motor, gearbox, etc.
FRED, read this, and find something useful to do that could save you a lot of money in the future, that is save you big repair bills, etc.
But remember I do not know where her baby came from, though I do know where babies in general come from :D:D:D.

Well i hate other people working on my cars. Now when i have to get people to do work for me i'm not allowed to deal with them Karen does it..
We did'nt hear back from the mechanics on friday , there where going to get back to us about using a differant carby i said its not a race car so does;nr need a holley on it so yeah just find a VERAJET which is what they came with from the factory by GMH ..Well karen rang them on friday & they say they could'nt find anything else..THEN the ***** said to Karen if ya use a VERAJET you would have to find an adapter for it WTF!! hello that what GMH put on them.YES they are a fiddly carby as they run lots of polution garb on them & do take a little to sort out & tune..I was'nt happy friday as they say just stick with what you have so they took the holley off & sent it away for a rebuild. So if where lucky we mite see the car back LATE this week, But i have no idea as to what else there going to say needs replacing So i know the bill is going to be well over what we can afford ..I used to have a tool , It was like a multi meter BUT it had probes for heat & exhaust temps PLUS had sencers for emissions & also a cap for air flow at the carby, you could also set the dwell had a tacho aswell BEST tool i ever had SO i could tune all my cars with it BUT some low life stole it a few years back & we have never been able to replace it but when i do i wont be sending any of my cars to be worked on ever again..
We have had to pick cars up before as people have tryed to say to us you cant do this or that we have to do this or that..
Once went to get tyres fitted & i wanted the white writing at the front of the tyres as it would look nice on the car the moron tryed to tell me na we cant do that cause we wont be able to balance properly & i just laughed me head off & left with me car..
So yeah they mite get the carby back maybe tuesday then it has to be tuned & all set up & i want it run on the dyno so its tuned right threw the range..
So not happy & i'm hopping Karen will let me pick the car up as i realy want to meet this moron that thinks you need a adapter for the verajet..
All red engines had the stromberg carby except for some late red 202s which had a verajet but they where differant to the blue engined verajet.
Strombergs are a single throat carby & verajets are a duel throat carby.
The green car runs a holley 350 4 barrel with an adapter on the original manifold that had the verajet on it so if ya take the adapter off GUESS what the VERAJET bolts straight on..:mad::mad:
I can see why so many people get riped off by mechanics.Alot of mechanics nowadays wont even touch a carby engined car they just dont know what to do & all the old guys are retireing so its only the youg guys who have only ever worked on cars that ya can plug a computer into to tell ya what wrong with the damn thing..GGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRR..
Ahwell the green one better sing & try making love to me for the amount its going to cost & if there is so much as a fart in it its going back straight away..

Well the car has been back on the road for a week now & its going real good..I also took the thermostat out when i fixed the idle & choke..It seem to run HOT in summer so took it out & runs even better now with the hot weather..We think its the radiator ever since we got it i have said its to small BUT all 4X4 say na thats the right one for an original 6cyl..But the one i took out was biger & an original wish i still had that one ..We are going to look into another one..The yellow landy we had had a holden 6 in it & a holden radiator so will look at some of them , But also i want to look at AUSSIE DESEERT COOLERS radiators as they have a triple flow system & garentee to be better then any standard radiator..Will email them & let them know what engine i have in it & see what they can do so i get a bigger radiator with better flow..

TV broke down during the week, it was an old CRT tube type with a 80cm screen, not worth repairing so we looked around and bought a new one yesterday at Bing Lee's. It is an LCD type with a large 46" (116.8cm) flat screen, so we sat down yesterday and watched "Transformers, Dark of the Moon" DVD. I tell you what, Blue Ray players are getting cheap, saw one at the shop for $99, was tempted, but resisted as our current DVD player is still going well.:)

Well its that time of year again my birthday & Xmas coming up & as usual everything turns to ****ing **** for us yet again.
Postie turns up so out i go get the mail..Great all we get is a parking fine for parking in a no stopping zone..So i goes down the road to check it out & yes as usual they have changed a 4 hour parking spot into a NO STOPPING zone so i'll have to wear that one..
The fine was for $206.
We are just waiting for a letter from the realestate now to say our rent is going up which we get every 6 months & its been 6 months so just waiting for it ..It will come they do it every 6 months without fail..
And when i went to check the sign down the road the GEARBOX is now making that noise again.Funny grinding growling noise.
Completely over it we are in the last 3 months we have spent over $1000 on it for a new clutch & then the $700 for the carby rebuild & tune up..
It could be a $10 bareing or seal but i doubt it id say it needs a complete rebuild & honestly i dont want to have to work on it again.
When i did the clutch i had to do it in the rain.
And if its a fine day i end up with a massive migrain as im on & off with my sunglasses so i cant win..
The camper need to be rego'd to but thats not a big drama as it will be free but it does need a pink slip cause of its weight & we have to get a stat dec form so i can put it in karens name for the free rego cause you can only have one rego per name & the car is in mine..
We both are over Cardiff you have to drive around for ever to find a park anywhere & everything has changed & geting worse around here..
Had a plumber in this week to change taps & shower head to the new water efficiant ones so when ya have a shower now you need it turned on flat out just to get a drible & ya just sit the kettle in the sink to fill it up as it takes forever..GGGGGGGRRRRRRRRR:mad::mad::mad:..
So the green car is up for sale or swap so if you know anyone looking for one tell them to get in touch with us & if there lucky i mite just throw the gearbox & Tcase from Harry in with it ..ITs not rebuild but it does have all new gaskets & seals & brandnew handbrake shoes I even put a brandnew boot thingy on the back for the linkage..
ITS like Karen said one thing starts to look up for us & then everything just falls to **** as usual & we are both sic of it ..So Xmas round here will be a very happy great time NOT just like usual..
Told yas i hate this time of year & atleast Karen & I wont be arguing on me birthday for once so that could be good maybe ask me after next friday & i'll tell ya.
But yes let us know if use know anyone that mite be interested in the car for sale or swap. Also i'm not taking anything aff it so everything will go with it even the whinch although the PTO is in the shed as it needs a seal thats all. I get sic of the burning oil smell on the exhaust from the leaking oil seal at rear of PTO so thats the only reason its off..It all works fine..
Has the 100 amp second deapcycle battery & auto split charge , mini fridge between the seats & all the radios..Oh & its all engineered for the full power steering , Its not the ram type..plenty of pics if anyone wants some..

Well stayed up at mums lastnite to help them move there stuff into storage since the house is sold & they have to be out by the 21st.
Towed the camper up as i had to go out satdy morning & car seemed ok .
It towed the camper up ok & its fairly heavy the camper & even heavier coming home as the kids brought some stuff home with them & it towed ok again. BUT that flywheel with those 2 bushes in the middle well they make a rattling noise..There not a snug fit to start with so will look at that later on..Completely stuffed after moving there stuff plus we did all the lawns.

Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes..I got a couple of LANDROVER series 3 MUGS for me birfdy of the big mug DALE..:D.Karen & the kids got me a new fishing rod & a tackle box full of gear & i brought a new bear Gryls knife which was part of all that...Vickie my cousin gave me a bottle of scotch.. Mother called in on me bday with my sisters 2 boys didnt even get a happy birthday nor even a bloody card, That ok her bday will come around & go straight past for me.Mum & step father called in on satdy for Xmas to give the kids a card, & said they wouldnt be down on xmas day so that was fine..Then on Xmas day we seen Vickie for awhile she got me a LANDROVER tin sign poster love it & some shirts from Hawaii from her hols there a couple of months ago.THEN it all went to **** Mother turned up here & she dont like Vickie when she walked in she said oh your here ill stay outside & walked out . Made worse by the fact that fred said she told nan at the back door Vickie was here so she then came in & said what she did so that was all just a show..Made Karen & I feel an inch tall & Vickie said its fine ill go & she left then mother rolls in as if nothing happened.GGGGRRRRR
Even fred said that was so rude & so embaracing . We rang Vickie after mother left to appologise Fred jumped on the fone first to say she was so sorry then Karen then me Cody was just yeah whatever & went & played his games ah to be a young teen..
Its like karen said ahwell yet another Xmas ****ed for us again only this time they took there time as the day was nearly over..Seems where not sposed to enjoy ourselves or have friends over in case any of the family turn up..And where not sposed to have a better day then anyone else.
When it was over we where all talking again about just packing everything up & throw it in storage & ****off & travel with the camper for a year or so.
Where all just over the crap & how the family can just do what they like to us all because i have a problem & they know ill just back down.. See my problem is just a joke it doesnt realy exsist its all just in me head make believe & im just a bum lazy bastard who wont work & apparently im just rawting the system & getting a pension..
****es me off to no end we went & stayed up there to help them move out the week b4 xmas & busted our guts to get all the heavy work done, cause i rang mum to see how they where going & she was saying there was no one coming to help them as my 2 sisters live up there close with there families..Found out when we got there on the satdy that my sister was coming over on the sunday to help with her husband. So again i was just played made to feel guilty so went & helped..
Step father paid Karen for all of us helping he gave her $200 Karen said na its fine we just came up to help. I said yeah like **** bull**** ill take it after getting played..Plus he was paying me sister & her hubby for working & helping..
Where just over the whole shebang & want to get out of here well away from them..
Went out to maccas yesdy for the kids as it was open at glendale.,. On the way back i put me blinker on to turn into our street at the pie shop BUT i noticed up at the next block there was a early landy so turned the blinker off i could of turned as there was no cars coming but i seen the land , Karen said realy. So up i goes to the next intersection & the other landy could of went as i was the only car coming BUT he waited to wen we got there he & his Passenger where both hanging out with both hands waving the pair of them..They was in a series 1 with no roof or doors so yeah they where both had 2 arms up & waving so i had to to hang out the window to wave back Karen just seemed to sink in her seat..She did say they would know my car as he did the last pink slip on it & wanted to show her his series 1 but she wouldnt be in it but she did let him go over my car after the slip was done..He works at tyrer power down the hill so i said to karen ill callk in & see him when things open back up :D:D:D..
I'll get some pics latter of me stuff & put em up..

Hey Banjo, Karen and kids.
Sad to hear you had the family dramas on Christmas Day. I start early (about a month before Christmas Day) by telling everyone to **** off and let me have my own space on Christmas Day.
Over time they have learned that it is the best Christmas present I could have and they just leave me alone. Of course, I didn't start doing that until the kids all left home and did their own family thing.
Up until then I just had a good time with the kids and told everyone else to **** off.
I got your Christmas card, thank you. While it was appreciated, it wasn't returned - sorry - I am a sad bastard when it comes to sending out cards.
Happy 10th anniversary of your 30th for the other day. Mate - ya can't do anything about the aging - just have to suck it up like the rest of us :)
Buggering off in the camper sounds like a good idea. I have thought of doing it often - but the only thing that stops me is wondering where I would store all my tools (the rest of the stuff can go to the dump :) ). What will you use to tow the camper?
I see you are offering the green machine for sale. You'll need something to tow the camper.
I am hoping that your New Years celebrations will be better and that the 4 of you have a brilliant 2012.

I recon $2,500 & it will be yours..When you email for extra pics POST em up..
The highway transfer box is a real bonus So i wouldnt leave it parked to long at my place :D:D..
Also find out what holden engine is in it . I'd say it would be a red engine of 186 or 179 both good engines could be a red 202 thats what i got in Harry..
Also see if the head has been done for unleaded fuel that will save you having to add the adative..
Ask where does it leak when it rains as it will leak they do that from the factory i think it was designed into them its called self cleaning or washing for the inside..
You'll also notice a lot of play in the steering wheel even if its been rebuilt .Karen used to fight it in my yellow one & would end up all over the road thats why the green one got power steering & same with harry..
Ask about the back seats but if it doesnt have any i'll make you some same as mine..we had them in yellow one & we put seatbelts in but never engineered them..
Good luck & i hope you get it as you'll love it ..
& it'll give you & Mrs Aus a day out on a train to go get it & drive it home..
If you miss out on it i know where theres a good green series 3 :twisted:..

Hey Banj, what do you think of this one, it's a 1968 Series 11a model with a Holden motor and they want $2,900. Do you think $2,000 would be a reasonable offer??
1968, LAND ROVER SERIES 11A, Central West NSW, Private Used, $2,900 at carsguide.com.au (http://www.carsguide.com.au/site/search/vehicle-details//P10991499&utm_campaign=DigitalNiche&utm_source=DigitalNiche&utm_term=Land%20Rover)

Hey Banj, just got a call from a cousin of mine, he owns a Discovery 3 and the last time I saw him was about 4 years ago before we bought the FL1, at the time we owned a Daewoo Lanos (sorry, looks down and shuffles my feet with embarrassment). He bought the D3 brand new and has used it for it's intended purpose. The last time he visited he showed pictures of him out in the Simpson Desert with the D3 with a sand flag flying from the front.
He has just spent $2000 on a new diff, so I guess he gives it a good workout. Anyrate, he will be visiting me on Wednesday arvo after I finish work at about 2.30pm. Looking forward to it and will get some piccies to post. Of cause you are always welcome to come over and meet him.
Actually, he doesn't know I've developed an interest in LandRovers and when I was talking to him on the phone I didn't mention it.
I don't think he is on the AULRO site, but you never know!!!:D

Being an ex Navy man, I toddled off down to our local RSL for a couple with the boys last night.
Sat around in the carpark for a while, had a cigar, then suddenly realised, IT'S THURSDAY YOU IDIOT.
Heading back down the club in about an hour, on the right night this time.:)

If you would like me to bring the door up I would be happy to pick it up from Hilton's and to drop it at Cardiff.

You can see in the top photo the terrible condition of the old starpicket and barbed wire fence, and the neighbour was quite happy with that!!!!

Forgot to say, I am going to put a concrete mowing strip under the fence to tidy it up a bit and also to stop water from coming through when we have heavy rain. I mentioned to the neighbour about a year ago if there was any way he could divert some of the water further down his block and he (typically) gave me about 50 reasons why it couldn't be done!!!!!

Na we didnt end up geting the loan , Karen has gone back to working for her old boss cleaning & has enough working credits & is under the amount that would effect our penssion this fortnite so we ended up buying a secondhand fridge from like new appliances for $300 & got a years warrenty with it.. Yeah Banj, I thought I would have a change of Avatar and this time make it a complete change from the cartoon type ones I have used in the past!!:) The "canon" is actually a 40 mm anti aircraft gun know as a Bofor!! Way back in the late 1960's when I was a very young man I spent 6 years in a Army Reserve (then called the Citizen's Military Force) unit known as 113 Light Antiaircraft Battery then based at Fort Scratchley!!
It is now known as 113 Field Battery based at Adamstown. Anyway. it was an interesting six years and I learnt all there is to know about them (most of which I have now forgotten) and I worked my way up in the ranks to become a Gun Number 1, or Gun Sargeant!!:)
The Bofor was mainly an Anti Aircraft weapon with secondary roles as Anti Tank and until recently used on our Navy Patrol boats as their main weapon.
The Yanks used twin Bofors in the Vietnam War mounted inside Hercules C130 Gunships. They used to fly in a circular formation around the target area and blast the living daylights out of the target, as only the Yanks can do!!
When you consider they fire two 40mm rounds a second that is a fair bit of firepower.
Anyrate if you are interested have a look at this!!!!:D:D:D

This one was taken at Singleton not long after I joined in 1964, that's me with a big smile standing on the left!!
https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2012/09/41.jpg
Taken during a live firing exercise at Fort Wallace, that's me standing on top loading clips of four rounds each into the Auto Loader, you can see the dust being blown around and my shirt billowing from the recoil of the gun firing!!
https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2013/10/412.jpg
Taken at Berridale ( I think that's how it's spelt) inland from Nowra in 1968. I am standing in the front with my Gun Detachment ( I am now a Sargeant). We had to dig the guns in by hand which was a lot of hard work and you can see the gun is only partially dug in!!!;) The Gun was called "G" for Golf Gun in Army lingo and also know to us as "Li'l Jinx".

Yeah Sleepy, when the gun is firing at 2 rounds a second you don't have time to waste to keep up with it. In that piccy where I was loading, you brace your bum against the railing and go for your life, as soon as you push in a clip of four rounds in the Auto Loader and then reach across to the Ammo Rack for another clip, the Auto Loader is nearly empty!!:D:D
