Wont be too long and you'll have a new spot for christine and your tools and bits.;)
When you are ready I'll teach you how to panel beat your head:lol2:

Sounds ok, pity no shed but roof over families head is important bit. Carport will keep the rain off you when your working on the car. Maybe later you can stick in a little garden shed for your tools - I see them around second hand for not too much.

ok, I am off to have another battle with that tyre. I don't need to get it off but I am proving to myself I can. Frickin hard lesson.

Will you end up with a spare bedroom once you are in? I say this coz you could do a "Cooper" and call one of your spare rooms garage :D, and dump everything in there on the carpet  and I mean everything....tools, spare landie parts.....and god knows what else :angel:

OK. I guess I need to learn how to put it back on.:( (Now where is that bike helmet?)

V8Ian
27th February 2010, 12:24 PM
OK. I guess I need to learn how to put it back on.:( (Now where is that bike helmet?)
No need for a hemet on this stage.

Place the rim, outside up, on the floor. Valve at 12 o'clock.
Lube the bottom bead well.
Standing at 6 o'clock, with your toes against the bottom of the rim, hold the unlubed bead with both hands. Swing it in a downward arc onto th rim.
This is more of a knack than pure strength. You can get almost 180* of the bead on with practice.
Standing on the tyre, knock the rest of the bead on with you rubber mallet, being careful not to damage the bead area.
If you're fitting a tube, now is the time to do so. Inflate just enough to position the tube without deforming the tyre.
At 180* from the valve, use a single lever to pull the now lubed upper bead past the rim.
With your foot, push the bead down level with the well of the rim.
Work the rest of the bead on with your feet, assisted if need be by a lever. You may need to persuade the last bit with a mallet.

Good luck mate.:)

Hey Sleeps, hows that tyre going? Sleeps.....Sleeps.....SLEEPY......
Can someone go and check on Paul?:p :o

If you're fitting it up tubeless, you may need a rope or small ratchet strap pulled tightly round the circumference of the tread to seal the beads until inflated.

Sleepy

V8Ian

That's not a silly idea :D Especially after watching a tyre change where the bead would not seal ;):D
Or get Pat to talk sternly to it, preferably into the valve stem.:p;)

Often it's better to inflate the tyre with no valve core fitted, putting the core in after the beads have seated properly.

V8Ian
27th February 2010, 03:10 PM
That's not a silly idea :D Especially after watching a tyre change where the bead would not seal ;):D
You can buy soft rubber donuts, that when generously lubed, seal the upper bead during inflation. As the tyre inflates the ring is forced out.

Thanks for that but we are hiring a car on Monday for the time being. Landy will be off the road for at least a week, we need transport so we are hiring a car. Just got home from doing a Wedding, got all the grankids here so, getting near the computer is difficult. Gotta go up to Pokolbin tonight to pick up some people from the Whitney Houston concert, not looking forward to that as a Tom Jones concert is on the same night at a different venue, the traffic will be terrible, not looking foward to it.:(

Tomorrow I'm off to Sydney International to pick up some people and bring them back to Newcastle.:)

Don't dismiss it Jason.

How about "Jason's Custom Built Campers" - you can do it you know.

I seriously looked at buying a T-van (30 grands worth:o). There is no reason why you couldn't build "made to order" one offs and sell them for quite a few grand. Especially with your "scrounging" abilities :D

Anyway keep dreaming. These are good dreams.:)

Thats funny scrounging most of the inside of the van matials came from the local library when they referbished it, old tom called in on a saturday after lunch & said they just left & have left a heap of stuff out..SO fatty & i jump in the crapota & goes down ..we got a brandnew carpet offcut, some wood all the underlay some metal & a big bag of unopend selftaping screws..
When we have the rubbish colection days around here i like to go around the few blocks next ours..We call it curb side shopping at our place..so people throw out some good stuff..Both the kids have small tvs they came from curbside shopping.Got a realy good outdoor setting curbside shopping..

Agree.

Doing it at your own pace and in your own time won't make you a millionaire but will certainly more than cover the costs.

I have a Cub Kamperoo here. Fortunately it was given to me so my upfront cost was nothing - but to re-register it here in Canberra cost me quite a lot by the time I found and fitted new wheels and tyres and hubs - and replaced the bed and built a box on the front for storage and put new lights on it...

Like you, I love doing that sort of work - but I can't weld - anything! You have some great advantages.

Mmmmm Junk Day. I love it.

My grandfather was a "Carter", that is polite for a rubbish collector. He used to go around Collingwood in the 1920's to 1960's collecting rubbish from factories. His sheds were amazing - full of shoes and leather and metal and LP records and nuts and bolts and YOU NAME IT. As a child I just loved exploring his Aladdin's caves. I think it is in my blood - to drive a bouncy old truck and see the value in other peoples rubbish.

There is nothing more satisfying than making something out of nothing.

When I was into Ham radio a few years ago, I made an antenna out of a broomstick and 2 old tent poles. Then I spoke to someone 200km away. Pretty cool I thought!!!:D

Bloody rain.Well that mite be the answer to my tool problem since i pulled the benches down & they are now all sitting on the floor & the garage leaks like the proverbial ..it wasnt to bad when we checked this mornin but it been raining for a little while now so i realy dont want to go check...

banjo
1st March 2010, 03:07 PM
Yes my mother was here this morning. She said hello but didnt even ask how the house hunting is going just said my step father said we should look around garden suburbs,,like we are a pair of retards & wouldnt of looked there, its just the next suburb for those that dont know the area..She was just winjing about how bad they are off...Mind you there big gripe is they want to retirer but they wont cant because they cant get the pension..they own a $700,000 house & own there own bisness PLUMBERS..but today it was how my stepfather spent $7000 on some birds & it looks like he mite have feet & feather disease & now the whole lot of his birds mite get it.Then it was that my sister is so bad off cause 1 of her kids needs braces & its going to cost $10,000...Its funny i asked them a few years ago if i could borrow $20,000 to buy a house the house was $15,000 & the rest was to get us there,it was out in the bush, they said na cant afford it,,no worries didnt bother me..the next week when she was here it all about how my sister couldnt finish her house off they built a new one but had no driveway or floor coverings or any grass ,,so my perants went & out & got them all of that stuff on there bank cards..Because hey they cant live there like that.& they werent in any hurry to get paid back..& yet if i borrowed the money off them i would of had it completely paid back & owned a house in less than 6months..
See they think i am a joke that my mental illness is nothing & i should just go back to working 12 to 18 hr day like i used to & it will just go away.See both our families think where bums & wont work & thats our fault. i woould just about kill to be able to work. Now we never ask for anything dont want for anything..The reson i wont ask someone to help us move or anything is if someone helps & then in a week they say come over & we will have a BBQ or just go to a park with the kids is i feel oblegated to do so & when i cant it makes me feel so bad that karen & i start fighting because i should be doing whatever they want us to do.Thats when i would make excuses as to why we cant go ..The only thing inportant to me is karen & our 2 kids..Not money...But if something goes wrong with familys cars or they need something fixed or just want info guess who they come to for it..I dont do it anymore & i think thats why no one has anything to do with us..Not one of my family have offered to help us with the move, but garanteed once we have moved one of them will want something done for sure...So yeah i am having a bad day i get more ****ed off that i cant control when i will have a bad day they just hit me & the depression sets in & i just have to ride it out..
Think happy thoughts dumb ass think happy thoughts...sometimes it works depends on what i have got aroud to do gives me something else to think about.I do alot of drawing of camper vans or thing to build for my car & if i am lucky i mite have a model to build, finished a big towtruck for trucks about 3 months ago..I also fix the kids bikes & toys & the neighbourhood kids bring me there stuff to fix keeps me busy.Realy need to go for some more little drives but i dont want to use the fuel till after we have moved..

Yeah mate, hang in there. I think you have summed up your feelings about your mother. That's OK good to get it out - don't dwell on it. Dont be jealous about who she has or hasn't helped - not that it isn't true or a kick in the guts - it is just a waste of energy. Tie a ribbon around those feelings and pack away in a box with all your other bits and pieces. Later you can unpack them and do something about it - other things to worry about now.

The only thing inportant to me is karen & our 2 kids..Not money

You are spot on mate - that IS what is important.

I know what you mean about feeling obliged. I have been in that situation all to often. I am sure you can get it done by yourself.

Bloody nice models mate - another thing we have in common :D. I haven't built one for years but I am stockpiling some for when I find the time. As a kid I built lots of WW2 airfix models - I think that is what got me interested in aviation.

hey it's karen we are still waitting to look through the house in lowry street and now a new one in brown street which is just around the corner from us.
Here is the problem even though we have looked through neither of these 2 places Lowry street 2 bd and sunroom so basically 3 bd no shed only carport have concerns we won't fit fridge in the small looking kitchen from pics on internet and is on other side of cardiff.

Brown street nice looking (from driving past) 3 bd brick house looks big maybe lawnlocker double size concrete slab but no carport much closer to where we are already so better for kids (friends) looks bigger (looks nicer)but is $25 more a week .

Not sure what way to go need to look through them and time keeps marching down only 25 days to go.

No, you don't have to be assessed for your licence but you do have to have a medical every two years if you are under 60 or every year if you are over 60. All drivers of public passenger vehicles have to be medically assessed. I believe truck drivers with a Multi Combination licences also have to have medicals on a similiar basis to public passenger vehicle drivers.:):)

Dad bought one to park his new D-Max in ...

... only lasted about 3/4 months and then a good blow knocked it rse over ... at which point it was revealed that all the covering was perishing and it just fell apart and ripped like tissue paper as they tried to recover it! .... and only $299 !! :D

Sorry about the ancient crack Aus - at least I didn't say you had alzhiemers :lol2:

Fingers crossed Fatty and Jason. Drove home tonight and was wondering whether you have done any good yet.

Hey Jas, Not sure about the wheel carrier yet. I keep the spare inboard around town, I only will bolt one to the door for long trips so it shouldn't trash the door/hinges too quick - I hope.

Why don't you make a couple and stick them on ebay or here in the markets -- you might make a few bucks. :)

So put up a garage that when you move again, if ever, you can disassemble it and take it with you. Or if finances and space permit get two shipping containers and put a roof between them. Just a suggestion.

Nah, not a daft question at all, and you're not totally way off.

Nuc med does more diagnostic stuff - we can track, and see where some cancers are. We do some therapy stuff, but chemo uses special drugs that cause cells to die, whereas with nuc med, we use drugs that go to the specific sites of cancer, that are bound to a radiactive particle that destroys the cell. So, similar in some ways - chemo works well for some things, nuc med is better for others.

We also deal with non-cancer stuff too - like thyroid function, and heart tests to look for heart disease, and nuc med is very good at looking for bone trauma (breaks and inflammations), much more sensitive than x-rays but it is more invasive and time consuming!

I hope that wasn't too confusing!!

You need to change the title of the thread to "Guts and Courage"...mate, only those that have really been in a position such as yourself can empathise with what you are going through. I am one of those, and still am suffering from the same things you do and more. Only problem is, I have no support from my ex- spouse - she walked out on the kids and I.

I can offer no advice....panic attacks are one of the most debilitating things that can happen to someone...just surround yourself with those that love you, communicate through forums such as this, trust your medical team and continue on your treatment plan - be it CBT, desensitization etc...good luck mate.

Well one of those crappy days for me today...Didn't sleep to well had nightmares well we call them that, things from the past pop into my mind like ghosts of past makes me wrestless.Alot of people that suffer the same as me have bad suicidal tendancies im lucky there i don't,i wouldn't have the nuts to do it & i couldn't do that to Karen & the kids & all you guys ...I do wish i was dead sometimes but thats as far as it goes for me.like today i wish the ground would open up & just swallow me..Depresion is a terible thing it effects people differently for me it makes me feel useless, small & all the past just drops in on me like a ton of bricks.I wont take any drugs for it as they are all very very adictive & have realy bad side effects....I used to have these days 3 to 4 times a week but not as many now i have everyone here to talk to maybe 1 to 2 times a week sometimes none. I have all you guys to thank for that...See this is the only contact i have with the outside world this forum & i am enjoying having somewhere to chat ,talk to people that share the same interests as me..Once we have settled in the new place i want to make more of an effort to go out for my small drives & get to some shops & just basicly meet some people..We met AUSFREE a week ago that was great..They say a change is as good as a holiday so hopefuly the new house will be that for us..Fatty's excited its very modern inside with polished floorboards & all..LOOK i feel a little beterer allready..

Sorry to hear today's not so good for you Jason. Keep up the brilliant effort, but take it in small steps. Each step can be a minor victory, but unfortunatly not all will be forward movements. Focus on the successes and take the others on the chin, undetered. You've made remarkable progress here, how about setting some goals, Maybe a BBQ with AUS on the next public holiday, or something like that. Your goals need to take you out of your comfort zone yet be achievable, so you need to set them. Good luck and all the best mate.

I drove past the Morpeth house this morning (well, as usual for a Thursday!) and no, I forgot my camera, but I had a very quick count as I drove home (was running late so didn't slow down or stop). There are at least 9 in the yard plus the td5 110 on the street. Couple of ex-army, at least one 109 ute-timber trayback (S3 I think it was), plus a few S2/2A and S3 wagons.

I wonder just what condition they are all in, never seems to move or anything change with them. Does anyone here know much about them all?

Sorry to hear you had a bad night Jason, but keep focussed on the positives, sounds like you've been making some real progress lately, and is good to hear some excitement about the house move, and that you met up with Ausfree for a chat! Keep strong, and just keep going one little step at a time. I have big respect for yourself and Karen - I think you're both doing great!

Hope today gets a bit better!

As a moderator......I wouldn't suggest it :( You can sometimes cop a lot of abuse, and have to act impartially (no favouritism) and this can be a problem at times. It is not what I would call an easy job but it can be a lot of fun at times too, but the downside might not be such a good idea for you as you need positives in your life not negatives.

Incisor has the say as to who and who isn't a moderator ;) as he runs the forum

Trip went well, they where Chinese engineers out here visiting Cardiff down at EDI where they build trains, apparently the Chinese have won a contract to build passenger carriages and they are out here for a look-see. Took them for a quick scoot around Newcastle, but they where keen to get back to Sydney as soon as possible, so I thinks "beaudy, I get to knock off early", so wwoooossshhh the little bus was heading for Sidunee, lickety split.
As far as me being nervous is concerned, I wasn't nervous for me (Don't you worry about me) I was concerned how you would handle me suddenly appearing out of the blue. But by the tone of your postings, things seemed to have gone well. As far as drinking alcohol is concerned, as you know I don't mind a beer, I drink mid strength stuff so you don't get drunk, I have never drank to get drunk as a lot of young people seem to want to do nowadays. As you know I go down to Edgy pub and have a few ales and solve the worlds problems with the boys down there.:twobeers:
My days off are Wed and Thurs so if and when you are up to it I can come over and have a few soft drinks with you and of cause talk "Landies".:D:D

Seano I noticed some of the old Landies in the yard still have number plates on them? The rumour I heard ( and its just that, a rumour) is that he buys a Landrover, drives it into the ground and instead of repairing it he just shoves it in the yard and goes and buys another one!!!:o:)

With the carport slab, could you bolt together a carport roof, and bolt some poles under it, so when you move you can just unbolt it and take it with you?
Just a thought...

We actually have so much stored in out carport we cannot use it, so work on the Rover outside using an old beach umberela to shade the work, and shade us while we work on car.

To extend what I said earlier about roof between two shipping containers, you could use one container, plus poles on other end of roof, the one shipping container being the lock up your tools shed, and the carport section the shaded work area. If down the track you ever have to move again pack all your funiture into the shipping container, and get it taken to the new property. Have the roof so you can unbolt it to take it with you as DiscoMick says.

Why does life have to be so complicated did i kill a chinamen in a past life or is it because i'm not nice to my family.
My day was so bad i still can't believe it started ok went done my housecleaning job done no worries.
Came home went down the road charge light came on ok will keep eye on it let jason know when i get home. Unfortunately that wasn't to be when i finished and came back to the car it decided its had enough no start no turn over not even a little click. Just dead silence. So i sat and sat before trying again still nothing.
Thank god jumper leads in my car should be easy to get someone to jumpstart me (you would think) i thought pension day was yesterday only old people mostly old ladies who i didn't want to ask they all had little cars anyway. Finally some workman came in to the bi lo carpark yes i thought so i went and asked could they spare me 10 mins well no sorry love we have been on lunch now we have to get back ok thanks anyway.
So bit the bullet rang jason mind you by now i had been there over an hour so not happy told him what happened said i would lock er up and walk home.
He done great he rang back told me stay there i will come down an jump it even thought he had been eating all morning he still came to the rescue.
So car started as soon as he connected it to his great i thought straight home.Na car had other ideas it decided to backfire loose all power i'm thinking omg whats wrong jas wasd behind me i don't know he didn't hit me i got through main st went to turn onto myle rd and pluu we died got it to the side of the road right in the bus stop so had to move it slowly we went got past the bus stop past bowling club and stop again straight opposite skate park .jason was like ok lock it up we will have to tow it home YAY.
Came home in cristine jason got his stiff bar out and one end was no good was nothing there to hook up to cars and other end which had trailer coupling was rusty so he though will drill hole through end with nothing so he can feed chain through as all his welders tools packed away (yes there were lots of swear words at this point about stupid ideas having to move) after much rearranging his biggest drill bit was used but alas wasn't as big as the chain so search again to find die grinder but couldn't use it as couldn't get to compressers so he put burr in his drill in the meantime i walked around the road to get another small d schackle no worries got one Came back trailer coupling bolt thingy to hold it to the car was bent and no good so in the rover up the back to our industrial area bolt shop mullins fasteners gave me a bolt but thread didn't go all the way jason had to pack it with washers by this time he was creanky tense nervous so not good times.
stiff bar wasn't secure so he said ok chains and d bolt even though we know it not good idea I had rang some local tow trucks they wanted $55-$60 to bring it home even though where it was to where we live is nothing so that was out off we go both hating ourselves hoping not to do any damage hurt or get caught how stupid anyway jas chained them up off we went slowly crossed myle rd to go through back streets i'm thinking let us get home plz i have only had to do this once before years ago and our stiff bar was good then.Jason turned into side st i thought i was going to hit the back of his car hit the brakes oops not right thing to do snap went the chain and one d bolt sorry i said try and limp it home he said see if it will go.So yep slowly i went and miracle made it home or rather neighbours on the rd still didn't have power only got to 2nd gear and was struggling so now jason has job to try and get it back on the rd so we have 2 cars to move we have locked it up got it in the driveway after jason had to jump start it twice because it stalled on me haha .Will wait to see what happens tomorrow.God i hate cars
PS did i tell u how jason dropped a lump hammer on my foot last week i though he broke my toes he lucky it wasn't

I am surprised the workmen didn't want to help a lady in distress (boofheads). Have you thought about buying one of those Booster Packs from Super Crap, I have a 600 amp one which cost about $50 and it does come in handy, just remember to carry it in the vehicle. They also come in 1200 and 1800 amp sizes if you want more power and they have a torch built in.:):) That way you don't have to ask anybody for a jumpstart!!:p
