Hey Jase, my camera has arrived in Sydney, I am guessing it might arrive Tuesday, would love to have it to photograph the Catalina Fair at Rathmines next Saturday, would love to get a shot of the Catalina landing on the lake!!!:D

I have always loved seaplanes. My desktop photo on my old Laptop was a Russian BE-103 Seaplane which had landed on water, and I had a video clip of a BE-200 demonstrating dropping water, as in dropping it on bushfires.

Cannot work out how to change the background picture on my current Laptop-- Windows 7 starter.

The traffic was terrible and I got there too late to actually see it land but I have some great photo's of it moving through the water, what a big aircraft, they are huge. Will post some photo's when I get some more time, we are going out to Christie's (youngest daughter) for a BBQ and to meet her new boyfriend. The laser looks good mate!!:D

Thats Freds little car she loves it , Karen took her driving this afternoon when we where finished for an hour..

When we where cleaning it 4 biplanes flew over 3 yellow ones & a grey one all in formation & then the grey one backed off.. I guess they where also to do with the catalena fair aswell. Was good to see..

Have seen an old spitfire flying over aswell on weekends for the last 3 or 4 weeks..

jason realistically what do you think your green one is worth? what engine does it have?
also how did you go searching for another car?

The green one has a 202 fully worked & rebuilt about 4 years ago at the most by me.Runs great has all the normal landy noises.Very reliable as we use it everyday.Has the PTO winch, duel custon fuel tanks. seats in the back , duel batteries in the back , hilift jack on the back. The only thing i want out of it is the UHF as its an older modle & a very good one ..Seen cheaper ones available now that would fit the hole..I want to reseal the roof before its sold as its started to leak .Looks like i'll have to repaint the roof to..Has all engineers papers for engine & power steering & the seats front & rear..So i have a little to do to it before its sold I cant sell it the way it is at the moment..I HONESTLY DON'T KNOW WHAT TO PUT ON IT..I was thinking when all sorted maybe $7000 ONO.I may part trade it aswell for something of interest maybe an old BRITISH bike Norton, BSA, Triumph.no idea realy.
Use tell me what use think its worth ?????????????

Searching for another car ?? Have'nt was told about freds car by my cousin we brought it off people she goes to church with & were the 3rd owners..

I am interested in a stage one if the guy still has it but its not addvertised anywhere i just know he has it as he used to stop in at old place to chat. But of late have seen him driving a little car so i'd say he has parked the landy up..Fred need hours for driving so sending them to where he lives to find him & find out if its still around..

Remember that one the other week for $5700.00 with rust and an unknown history. Oh I questioned the owner and he said the plate on the firewall said series 2a, well you and I know the doors hinges/rad support panel etc said it was a series 3.

A early range rover.
A disco
An early fender
A county
A triumph bike or old iron head harley
A ute
A bus of some sort
Part trade for a small ride on lawn mower

Banjo, You can get a very nice Range Rover classic very cheap. I recently got a 1991 Range Rover V8 Auto, roof Rack Bull Bar, rear step, Mag Wheels, Cooper Tyres 90% tread. Three Fuel Tanks, etc. Good uphostery, New Discs, for only $1200-- unregistered.

Slight insignificant Radiator leak [or hose, have not checked yet].

Needs New Disc Rotors front and back. Easy to repair-- I have had Rotors off a LR before now. A couple of hours work will do it.

So do not pay too much for a RRC. And they are the most comfortable 4wd, though looking at your Avitar you will definately want to convert it to leaf Springs in order to make it into a real Land Rover :D

Oh V8 is expensive on Petrol. We are going to convert it to an Isuzu/MSA/Lt230/2 inch body lift--see my threads in the Isuzu section.

For others a 300TDI may be a better conversion perhaps [if you are not going LPG that is, and do want to convert]. Convert I say Convert-- oops this is not the "Does God Exist" thread :)

You do not need to spend much to get a very nice RRC.

JohnF
13th November 2012, 04:32 PM

Ahhh a kombi! I have a mate who's slowly been fixing one up (as it keeps breaking down). It has been going well lately and internally it's a camper. It's very nice indeed. Last weekend I saw a kombi towing a boat on a trailer! It was going as well as it could...... I overtook in a 300TDI, so they weren't going fast. :p

I, much like Judo, have lurked for a while, and Mate I'm blown away, an inspiring story, I wish you the very best
I tend to keep my eye on the markets for LRs, just to see what pops up.
The condition of your landy, and the life it's lead puts it so far above the ones sitting in paddocks with "ran well when last started 8 years ago" in the description it's not funny :D
You should be able to get your asking price or close to it, and there are some decent rangies and discos you could trade it for as well :ohyes:
There's a rebuilt county with galv chassis, rebuild and upgraded 4.6 motor, etc on carsales asking 10, could be an interesting project
Best of luck with whatever you pick, personally I'm backing the Disco   :D

lol I can only begin to imagine a ferret that thinks it's human. We have 1 cat that thinks she deserves special treatment - like all cats do! My g/f has had her since a kitten, but we've only been living together a a year. A great cat and surprisingly obedient! Comes when you call her. Understands when we tell her off. Doesn't leave our yard at all and sleeps on her bed when we tell her to. Amazing.

The best thing I've seen though is a perfectly house trained and obedient rabbit! Hilarious and cute! :D

'Twaas great to meet the entire family Jason, all lovely people (even the dog too :D) And Gentleman Jim too.
I went on to Melbourne and had dinner with Mick_Marsh and Frog, from the other forum. Then I went to Ballarat and picked up six new FPV V8 engines. They're to wide to fit into a Land Rover :(. From there it was back to Brisvegas, the only problem I had was with my new Navman My Escape (top of the range):mad::mad: It keeps freezing and stalling. :censored:

My first post on this thread was somewhere around page 10--have not looked at page 10 or so for a while. never thought this thread may have so many pages, but have always followed it, except for some time when I lost where it was--the Soap Box, and for a long time did not know how to find the soapbox--I do know now after you AUSFREE did tellme how to find the soapbox. I have always tried to support Banjo, but sometimes have been caught up with other things. But I think I have read every post on this thread.

I did miss a few posts on banjos Build of Harry thread, but got most of those.

Well i got a shock today. Young Tony called in.Totally did'nt expect it as it was about 3 pm & thought na be to late for Tony to call in now.& i even had lunch :) .I must be getting the hang of this meeting people cause Tony did'nt leave till a bit after 7 pm.BUT i think thats more our fault as we (Karen & I ) talk the ear off an elephant to poor Tony for 4 hours so we appologise for that Tony..I have to say though for a young fella you really do have your head screwed on & seem a lot older then your age..A GOOD THING.I was actualy worried we would'nt have much other then the landys to talk about BUT i was wrong had heaps to talk about.Thats probably the longest first visit i have ever had..But i was comfortable as i was talking , If i was'nt i would'nt of spoken to much for long..We TOTALLY enjoyed ourselves Karen & I so thanks for coming Tony..It was a pleasure..

Any joy selling the "Green Machine", Jason???:)

Nup had it on ebay & had 50 watchers on it .. Not one bid or offer , got one question..

I'm thinking i mite take the parabolics outa wagon & put em in green one.

Take the engine & gearbox out of wagon for Harry.

Take the heater for the green one..

Then i mite GIVE AWAY the wagon without an engine or box or i could sell a rebuilt engine & gear box for it cheap to go with it..Oh & the seats will come out for Harry aswell..

I cant afford to build 2 cars & engineer them..Now that fred has a car they would only be in the green one when & if we get a chance to get away, not daily..But i want the wagon GONE ASAP so i have some room back to get some work done..
Are ya interested Jim ??? :D:D:D

The wagon with the engine i'll sell for $500 ONO i think ..
The green one is very reliable now.The wagons not it needs a NEW carby that $400 on its own ..Plus with work on Harry it would take so many years to get them both done & with no shed they will fall apart quick..
Although the wagon would make an awesome duel cab..But then i would'nt get Harry done at all..& would'nt get anything for it to sell it & i could'nt work on wagon here without a shed to make a duel cab as the roof would be off for quiet awhile to do everything..

Anyone got any ideas ??????????????????????????:(

Try other places to advertise like Gumtree for inst.:) Or, if push comes to shove try to auction it through E-Bay with the highest bidder winning. Start at say..........$2,000. Now, if you only get $2000 that's better than nothing.

No engineer would pass it like it is let alone a blue slip..then i may just give whats left away.if someone will come get it straight away..;)
Having trouble with owner & realestate about a shed..they wont get us one so was going to get a shiping container for up the back but they giving us heaps about that to.they want us to get writen permission off council for it.plus have to take lots of pics of the slab which is absolutly stuffed broken & very uneven..we have to get insurance for it.& i have to put timber down for it to sit on..But the slab is so ****ed already.& if it marks it or scratches the slab we have to replace it..

Look where not greedy people never have been , got no money & happy without it..But we have been here in this house for close to 3 years , when we first moved in we where paying $270 pw now we pay over $300 a week thats fine. But we asked if we could have a garage or atleast a carport the owner just said straight up NUP.He has a few rentals & is very addement that he doesnt want us to move out as we are the only people to look after the yards & the house & we always pay our rent so he deffantly doesnt want us to move BUT we cant even have a carport..Yet we have had to go with out hot water for well over a week cause when the hot water system went he kept ringing plumbers to see if they could just weld it up..The stove is very dicey ya get shocks from some of the power pionts. All taps in kitchen & bathroom are stuffed not the washers i replace them regulary just the taps themselves , the owner said we could fix them if we like..He has now started to ring us here not go through the realestate & turns up when he wants to check on things..So i dont think it unfair that we asked for atleast a carport..He wont replace the TV aerial for the digital , we use a set top box but without the aerial its not the best & goes in & out of tune so quick..our rent is due to go up at Xmas as it goes up every 6 months so we are just waiting for the letter to get here..I would like to keep the wagon for a latter project & make a duel cab ute out of it as that would be great for us.But Harry is more practical & is more inportant as i received it as a gift so it comes first for that reason..So its getting the V8 & 5 speed from the wagon..I do have a fully rebuilt gearbox & 202 engine i rebuilt for Harry that i could sell to who ever gets wagon..if i can get about $350 for them id be happy.engine still needs a carby & dizzy thats all..
Things are starting to fall to **** for us at the moment bigtime..so as usual we go 2 steps forward to go back 50 gggggrrrrrrrrr..

Rant over now.

Yeah i just cant stretch to do the 2 .If i had more room & a garage id say yes to both..But even just doing Harry is pushing it with no garage & as use know i'm very fussy about the work i do.If something does'nt look good enough i will do it all again till i'm happy with the result..

Pulled the Parabolics out of wagon today & threw in some old ones.gearbox next..then the exhaust..I want to take the second roof off & use on green one as it did have one when i got it but used it elsewhere..& the vents in the roof & the windows in the roof aswell . i would of just taken the whole roof but the gutter channel is stuffed where someone has cut it so will just use what i want.Green one already has the holes for the second roof just got rivets in em..I'd like to keep the rear side panels with the slidy windows as i could use them when Harry is finished. also the rear door maybe..But then the roof has to come off for that & i really dont want it all just sitting around till i get rid of what i dont want.Dont want bit here & there laying around as such.

Well went to the funeral today up at Berisfield Cremo..Standing room only , we ended Karen & I standing outside at a side door. Was a realy good service .Seen lots of people that i knew family friends from when i was a kid.Seen some people i have'nt seen for 20 years & seen some i thought had already passed away..

I think alot of people where shocked to see me..

We did'nt see my oldman before the service but seen him after. He was walking around talking to people & ignoring Karen & I to the point it was obviese. So after seeing everyone we wanted to see. I said to Karen come on lets go see the oldman ( Karen was'nt happy about it )..But we did anyway & i tell ya he is a small old man now seems to have shrunk & so has his voice.Didnt really talk much. he was going to ignor us wen we walked upto him so i stuck me hand out & waved in his face as such , Shook his hand & said hey how are ya going he said good , Sad day today & theres not to many of us left. I said the kids where going to come but Cody decided to goto school & Fred decided at the last minute to stay at home. THEN he left in a hurry :D Karen recons it would of rattled him that i went & SPOKE to him cause he would'nt of expected it..I have'nt seen him since my Grannys funeral i think..
& i think he was very shocked as i have fattend up a bit since then & am covered in tattoos..
Karen said cause i have put on a bit of weight & the tattoos & well i was in me jeans & Johnny REB boots & well i looked like a bikie just a clean bikie..

I think he was worried more then me :o:D;) ..

I was'nt nervous before the day really which is differant.I already knew in my head before going that if he started anything on me i was going to finish it this time no if no buts..

But he is just an old small man with cancer , Looks like a joky with a joky's voice..

I'm not afraid of him anymore..

Like DALE said ... So the tables got turned today ???

I think he may just be right.

But it was real good to catch up with everyone there..

Well we have had some run ins with the owner over the last month or so over a carport or a garage..Was'nt a good out come even though he is aderment he doesnt want us to leave as we are the only tenants he has had to look after the house & we pay our rent on time every week..Also had a run in with him this week over a blocked bathroom floor waste .I was standing in an inch of water & it flooded right out to the kitchen. He was trying to tell me it was a water board problem cause he is such a tightarse its not funny..& since i stretched myself a little far with the wagon & the troubles with the owner we desided to get rid of the wagon.I completely gutted it & took the engine & gearbox out for Harry & have fitted the tropical roof to green one.& i took the gaurds & bonnet & the 1 piece rear door.& sold the rest for scrap..IT WENT TODAY :(:(.BUT i'm happy as i have well & truely got my moneys worth out of it..

There getting a bit squeeky & the pedal a little soft with more travel so yeah hopping they just need adjusting..

so when are you going camping next? and just wondering where have you taken the camper since you have it and any photos of it set up?

Have only used it once when my parents had there big house at thornton. They had a spare block as such. Was still in there fence at side of house but big enough that you could build a big house & shed on..So we took it up there to see how to put it up..Have set it up here a few times now as i have been adding things to it..Its unregistered now but thats ok as it was due today so will rerego after Xmas so its not so close to Xmas..I've been doing work to it aswell.I'd like to build a new kitchen as this one is old.

I would like to get back upto Barranton tops , used to go up there every 2nd or 3rd weekend as a kid I i really like it up there..I was just reading an artical in a 4x4 mag & white rock camping area is now closed which is a shame as i wanted to take the kids there as there is a natural slide in the rocks..But i'm hoping i can still get to a place on the opposite side of the creek so we can walk over to it..

Yes Merry christmas to all & everyone..

OR in our case merry ****mas. We think we will be getting an eviction notice very soon as we have really upset the owner & the realestate .As we got a letter stating that next time pipes get blocked we have to pay it we let them know we not happy we tenants an not responsible for this to find out that no rules have changed bottom line we put it there so is our responsibility to make sure no foreign stuff goes down the only thing they interested in is to replace our smoke detectors that dont work and have wiring checked only things that they could be liable for anything else is up to us door handles us because they not here when we moved in moss and slime on back ramp because no guttering us again buy cement paint and non slip paint..So we found out today that the owner will not spend any MONEY on the place even if he has to & the REALESTATE are only worried about fixing illegal stuff like our smoke alarms which are illegal if not working in NSW & dangerous stuff like the power points that ZAP us or the light bulbs the you change even with the power off they still light up when i change. Had to change one in freds room the other day & it lit up even thow the power was off & expoded in my hand..& the back enterance which dangerous as it really slippery when wet cause of moss & slim which Karen has come arse up a few times & the last time wasnt that long ago which she hurt herself & nearly broke her ankle well guess what thats not dangerous enough to them .:mad::mad:. So we gave them a letter yesterday about everything that needs fixing which we do every inspection . Well it hasnt gone down very well at all ..

Well that letter we put into the realestate the other day made waves.Had the owner RING me again today.Really don't know why he pays an agent to look after the house as he rings here when he feels like it & turns up when he feels like it.& by law he is'nt allowed to cause he uses a realestate its not a private rental..Starting to really **** me off him ring & turning up when he feels l;ike it..Realestate dont care about it , Karen rang them today about him ringing again but they did'nt really care..:mad::mad::mad:

The owner is a real pain in the arse & useless so is the realestate & we've been renting through this realestate for 20 years & they have'nt changed any in that time.Would of gone through another realestate & found another house but all the rules have changed & you cant just transfer your bond between agents anymore..& they have changed aswell concerning all the drains & pipes we are now responsable for anything that goes down the drains including soap & hair..Thats why out floor waste in the bathroon blocks Karen & fred have longish hair & when you wash & the soap goes down the drain cause we have old cast iron pipes going into the old terracota pipes the soap that sits in the S bend congeels sitting in the cold old pipes..& cause there where no internal doorhandles on the inside doors when we moved in here he does'nt have to get us any BUT we can buy them if we want them..From what we can gather of all the new rules we have to pay rent & matainance on the house aswell as water usuage which is realy high through this realestate we get to pay his house off & all the matanance on & when its paid for we get kicked out so he can sell it..Which is all good & that is why people buy rentals BUT why the hell do tenant have to maintain it as well. used to be if something was wrong the owner had to fix it not nowadays ..

To all embarrassments, I wish you a very safe and happy festive season.
To Jason and Jim, I am at present in Penrith, and will be in your area soon, daughter has an invite to The Lord Mayors New Year's Eve function at Mrs Macquarie's chair for the 9PM fireworks, so have to go to that. Will be 'down south' for a few weeks yet, so will get to visit.

Mrs hh:angel:Too many people with "attitude" post in the Cantina, Carolyn and one has just been banned for a month. I really think it is only a matter of time before Admin lose patience and close the Cantina down and I can understand that. This Thread which does not offend anybody happens to be caught up in the turmoil. I certainly hope that the Admin move this Thread to another area, where we do not have a heart attack, everytime certain people with "attitude" say things they shouldn't and cause a "kerfluffle"!!:D:D

I used to get a little bit involved in debates, but no more, when people start slinging mud, I imeadiately lose interest!!:(

I have to say that I give a lot of credit to the regulars who post here.
Management have also seen that this thread conforms to the owners rules such that Inc has seen fit to allow the thread to continue to exist.
A huge thank you as I regularly read posts and try to keep up with everyone here. I don't need to name people as you all know who I am referring to.

It is a most intriguing thread.

Looking forward to meeting up with you all in the near future.

Kindest regards
Brian.
