I was just visiting my brother on the weekend in a little town of about 60(so not a town a village or a gathering of houses) and there was a little group of people around teh corner from his place having a get together of old machinery and cars. there were heaps of stationary engines and about 4 old fergies a couple old cars and an old ute and drum roll please.......a 1952 series 1 on historic rego. I got talking to the owner and he has a 1949 80' sitting at his place so he said he will give me a call one day as he does not think he will get around to doing anything with it. :)

When I got home, Jason, (after a couple of schooners at the pub) I had lunch and then rotated the tyres on the Kia (it's done 10,000k's so tyre rotation is due) then watched the new "Red Dawn" movie (typical Yank shoot-em-up style of movie) and then started to build the model Defender, got as far as the little fiddly bits (you know the head lights and such) and gave it away for the day as the old eyes are not what they used to be. Banjo, re- Broken Hill. I had mentioned to you that lead poisoning was a danger for those living in Broken Hill.

In today's Free Local Paper, "Tweed Sun," Dr. Wright has an item in his column on Lead poisoning. He states in part:--

"It is well known that kids living near lead mines are most at risk, as it is in the air. Regular blood checks are essential. It can lead to mental retardation and is very dangerious."

As his column is syndicated I would suggest this item is possibly also in a local paper down your way.

As I previously said, their are many other country towns that also have very cheap house prices. But if you do move to Broken Hill, do get regular blood checks for lead poisoning.

If you're coming up the Pacific Highway, you'll go straight past it. You'll see Coolangatta airport from the road.

If you come up the New England Highway, you won't be anywhere near.

John, I think the point I was trying to make was that a couple of beers affects the co-ordination somewhat.:D Only takes a couple.:p

I though there was also an eye problem also. I am writing a book on Alcohol Use, and though I am not a drinker am aware of effects of Alcohol on driving skils after just a glass or so [driving co-ordination, etc., is affected well below the legal limit, as tests on driving simulators, etc., have shown.]

In my early 20's, 1970, I liked a girl, Lorraine, who drank, and went to a party where she was, and did have just a couple of drinks.

I was fine to drive, except on the way home, the steering of my Type 3 VW Station waggon decided to play up and the VW kept mounting the hump in the middle of Parramatta Road--near Parramatta  .

So I pulled up and had a sleep in the back. When I woke up my car's steering had fixed itself :).

This happened to my VW 3 different occasions, and I vowed never to be under the influence again, and never have been under the influence since.

So I am aware of what just a couple of drinks in moderation can do to you, and am aware you do not normally know what it has done to you.

If you do get to Coolgatta you will find your way to Coolongatta surf club-- from the Airport you will pass one or two other surf clubs--depending on your route before you get to Coolongatta Surf club. There is a pedestrian crossing opposite the surf club. Walk away from Surf club paralel to beach until you reach next pedestrian crossing, and cross it to shops. Go through double glass doors almost opposite that pedestrian cossing and you atre in the building that has the Library at the top of the esculators on the 3rd floor [but Library is moving to different part of the building soon.]

The Library is about 3 km from Highway, if you come up the coast rather than New England Highway.

AndI will admit, from Singleton I would go the New England--but going up one highway, and back the other means you do see more of Australia that way.

The New England Highway route is slightly longer, but takes about the same amount of time as the Pacific, as there are far fewer towns to go through and speed limit changes accordingly.

They are both nice routes. Probably a little more to see on the Pacific route, but up one and down the other is a good move.

Hope you're not feeling too rough this morning birthday boy!

And I hope you didn't do my sister's trick on the way home, after her 30th she was being driven home by her husband (he was sober) after a little too much to drink. She pressed the button for the wrong window, and then attempted to turn and vomit through a window that was still closed. My brother in law had to dismantle the whole door to clean up :D

We took 'connie-sue' she stopped about 1.5 k's from the RSL, scallops came to the rescue and towed us there for her to start to drive into the car park:D

coming home we made it to our driveway:) When she gets hot and I take my foot off the accelerator she seems to die and sometimes backfires, any ideas Jason? We did buy a new coil today as it was very hot.

Will fit that before we next take her out.

Mrs hh:angel:

It could be the coil , they do get hot but not to hot..Try the coil see how it goes..It could be a fuel problem to ,When it gets hot things expand so does the carby so could cause a leak or a sucktion.Carby's leak through the ventri shaft & will run rough or die from fuel starvation..But i'd start with the coil & dizzy..You can get the electronic convestion for your standard dizzy for under $50 on ebay i think ,That will help to..Landy engines arent the best to get the timing set corectly either ..Also chech & adjust all the valves , But they must be done right you cant just go along in the line & adjust them.theres a set order to do them. All in the manual..

Also if its heating up a bit its best to check & reset all the valves to, that can cause heating..& alot of other stuff..

Had a diesel 2.1/4 years ago wouldnt start & run..Had lots of people come look it over but could'nt sort it so i desided to check & reset the valves. Started first push on the button & ran realy smooth..

I will be doing a Petrol 2.1/4 rebuild thread towards the end of the week on how to rebuild one & all the settings & they way they go together..YES I AM BORED..Spent the last few weeks hand cleaning every part of it..OH & a trick for the front engine crank seal.:D..

Well use all know i have bad teeth, No not from drugs or alcohole or smoking.Wheni was living with my oldman if we got a toothache he'd just say go put a cloves on it.So thats all that was done for years & years..
I went to a dentist about 18 years ago to have a tooth pulled & he said yep that'll take about 10 minutes, Well 2 & a hlaf hours later he got it out .With a fractured jaw & real mess of me gum..& it would'nt stop bleeding so Karen rang him & all he said was to rinse it out with poroxide..I could'nt open my mouth to take any pain killers so Karen ended up getting a BEX & put it on water in a glass & i used to straw to take it.. MIND YOU I AM ABSOLUTLY PETREFIED OF DENTISTS..& the one a seen then was rude & very abrupt.
Anyway i wake up yesterday with a tooth ache this morning i wake up with a swollen tounge & a big lump under my jaw bone on the left side.. So i'm hoping my body will get rid of the poisen AGAIN..I have about 6 realy bad teeth where walls of the tooth is missing or theres only a bit of a wall left. But the one that is hurting only has about a quarter of one wall left & its only a bit of the corner & a huge hole..

I cant goto the free dentist as they all need surgicaly removed as they are bad & the waiting list is so long i'd be dead before they got to me..& i can tell ya the only way they are getting anywhere near me is if i'm knocked out..I dont care if they just pull all of em & give me falsies atleast i can take to em with the dremmel when they need a polish :D.. & to go to a private dentist or normal dentist it would cost a small mortgage to get done.:(:(..I have in the past tryd to pull them myself but its hard when theres not much to grab onto..I can get them done for free ,, When they give me a heartattack they'll do something about them then..I'd just love to be able to brush them instead of having to use a toothpick to clean em.Can't brush them as they are to painfull & just bleed nonstop:(..Ahwell oneday i'll get em done ..Should get someone to belt the **** outa me with a pipe & smash all me teeth that way they get done to..But i am petrefide of dentists.& if i was unfortunate to get one like the last one i recon i mite just grab em by the throat ..

It ****s me cause i have a problem so people just walk all over you..speak to you like **** .Have had medical people do it before all because i have mental health issues....

Jason, just talking to Mrs Aus and she said as far as your teeth are concerned, go to the Mater hospital Emergency, they will give you pain killers and a referal to a Dentist, because you are in pain the referal is straight away and it cost nothing. The step son (the one we have had problems with) was in exactly the same situation as you and this is what he did. He is also unemployed (getting some work, not much) and on the dole and it cost him nothing. His teeth were rotten from years of drug abuse and the pain was such that he had to do something.:D

Jason.....if Karen is suffering backpain, tell her to go to a Doctor and get a referal to the physiotherapist at the Mater hospital. Costs nothing for people on a pension. Mrs Aus has done this when she had back problems.:D
If you looked at having your teething problems fixed and Karen took steps to fix her back problems, you both will be happier for it.

BUT TAKE THAT FIRST STEP!!!!!!!!:D:D

I was informed that the pain is in her shoulder blade on the back of her shoulder anyway..Yes we are looking into my teeth. But if they wont knock me out then i aint going anywhere near em.:(

Well today was one of those days..I started cleaning up the yard & had some large branches to cut up .With a bush saw you know the ones with the BIG teeth..This one was a cheap Aldi one..Well all was going well got half cut up Started another peice & the saw jumps out & bites be BIGTIME. Right in between the thumb & fore finger..So i txt karen & said i need you to come home i have cut my hand bad..Got cody to get me a hand towel as thats about all he can do when theres blood..Sent Karen pic before she got here , she said to fred oh crap that needs stitches..Came home & says that realy needs stitches , i say yeah i know BUT my doctor is off on leave. So we got it cleaned up & Karen dressed it & they left to go shopping so i went back to work..Then me sister txts we at target & nearly done can we call in..I said yeah.. Once they left i went & finished the lawns..By the time i was finished & had sweated so much the dressing was coming off , So took it off to redo..Its a bit deeper then we thought i can nearly put my little finger threw it from under it..I thought i had some grass in it but once cleaned its not grass or skin so i'd say i've hit a nurve AGAIN..So not a happy camper today..But i dont go to doctors for little cuts so just need to keep it clean & covered..I think Karen was stressing a little when she came home the first time cause she knew it needed stitches BUT also knew that there was noway i was going to the doctors..Ahwell just another crapy day in our lives.Whats one more..I have pics but thought i'd leave them out this time they are a bit grose..

Driving my bus through Wallsend at 8pm last night when some youths run up to the bus and threw half a house brick through one of the side windows. Everything happened that quick that I could not avoid the little ****s.

I stopped the bus straight away and reported the incident to base and they arranged to have another bus sent to me. Luckily I had no passengers on.:o

The brick hit with such force that it ****tered the entire window and left a hole near the bottom. If the brick had hit higher and somebody was sitting in that seat, it could have caused a serious injury.

The bus is now off the road, they will pull the hard drive and have a look at the video, maybe the little ****s are known to police.

The law is definitely not strict enough for minors, if these little ****s are caught, they will just get off with a caution.:mad::mad::mad:

Na its all good guys.Plus who wants to sit for hours just to get maybe 3 stitches..I filled it up with bedadine & used 2 of the strip sticky things to hold it shuy overnight plus i covered with a bandaid or 2..Did the same this morning after i had a shower & its all clean & redid..I hate Hospitals , Doctors & dentists..Its actualy not that sore , I expected it to feel worse.& Vickie is getting me the SKIN GLUE so will fill it with that tonight..

When i nearly cut me finger off in the old house we held it all together with bandaids cause it was tea time .& we cleaned it all up & i went to the doctors the next morning & he said na thats ok its healing already just keep it clean & covered.Did that for a week or so then left it uncovered to heal & got a nice scab on it & there barely a scar there..

Visited my one and only nephew who has had a stroke and is Maitland Hospital!!!! All appears to be OK, he seems to be talking OK. You never know when a stroke can hit, he is 55 years old.

If anybody thinks they are having a crappy life.....try this on for size.

Kevin (my nephew) is the eldest son of my older brother. Kevin used to have three brothers..... now have a look at this list....

1) Paul died in 1969 at the age of 7 with a hole in the heart.
2) Greg age 18 was killed in a car accident in 1978, age 18.
3) Tony died of aids in 1995 aged in his 30's.

Cliff, Kevin's father (my older brother) died in 2003 of a heart attack at the age of 67 and Kevin's mother died a year later after 6 strokes aged 69.

Kevin is separated, living on his own and has no contact with his former partner and his 17 year old daughter. This distresses him somewhat. Upsetting for Mrs Aus and me too.

Sooooo, I think Kevin has certainly been hit with the bad luck stick.

Well now the task of trying to recall the week that was.
I met Brian at Cessnock where we made way to Ballina.
It was a pretty good trip up plenty of talking about all sorts of things.
The next morning we had a slow start as we had plenty of time to kill before getting to the Ho Har's.
We arrived just before mrs HH got there.
Soon after Glen(ZD) arrived, I felt very out of place :p .
Big thanks to Brian for coming along I do not know if you ever picked up on it at all but I was quite down a few parts along that route as the last time I did it or any big trip it was under different circumstances and it was great to have someone to distract me, I hope it was not to painful for you :)

The next night was AG night.
Unfortunately things did not go our way and got there just before the presentation(video).
It was great to start meeting more people and to see some old landys around.
Well Thursday did not disappoint either.
Went over to see Tim and check out his land rovers(nice collection) and had quite a bit of time chatting before I went back via Dan Murphys only because the GPS said it was Ikea(I got there in the end).
Ikea was my favourite shop/store in Sweden and quite often went there for a meal as well so I had to test it out to see how I would go.
After getting back to hotel land rover, Harry took me for a spin in the 101 to visit Glen and digger if you read this he has the best gun buggy ever and he even let me take it for a drive and taught(tried) me to drive an old series. It was my first legal drive of a series, Oh happy days :D
Thursday night was GDLROC meeting night where I met more aulro members and re-met some others which made it better for the following days.
Oh and I apparently met a wingding pom(there is always something) at some stage :p
But in all seriousness Dave.......(dam it what do I say here again) :p

I am not big on words as you all know so I will let the pictures do the talking.

Firday night was quite quiet, people slowly came in and quite a few at night time.
It was nice to have a smaller group around the camp fire and also to have a fellow NSW person there.
Saturday was a great day especially once I had cleaned the cow **** from my feet after the previous nights walk back to get a drink.
Us who camped the night went and got started on the defender parking apart from Mrs HH and Kevin(extreme) who had the task of getting up early and meeting the convoy in Boonah and Mr HH who had to show the campers who had trailers where to go
It was good watching the defenders and especially the series go through the creek crossing( the series owned it over the defenders).
I was lucky enough to get a ride back in a 107 S/W :D

some people chose to go for a drive while others sat back and relaxed.
Even though everyone spoke to everyone people still kept to little groups especially at night time, No doubt ours was the best.We attracted them from near and far.

While the others were away scallops and I thought why not start drinking, hence we started drinking.
I was very fortunate to have kevin(extreme) and Scallops put on a outback my kitchen rules show for me.

Fairly soon after arriving back at team Ho Har's ranch I left as I had a big drive to my brothers place 30 mins south of Narrabri.( I think it took me about 7 hours with a few stops).
I stopped along the road to stretch my legs near Moree.

Yeah i still have them all..Have to build a new kitchen for the camper & also patch 2 small holes in the floor of camper section..We put 12 months rego on the green one about a month ago & it has just sat out the front since , Has'nt moved..I still have all of Harry but have'nt done anything to it..I have just about finished the 2.25 engine rebuild all with brandnew parts..Looks pretty good to..
Yeah i'd love a bike an old ridgit Triumph or swing arm & id just put the hard ass on it..BUT Fred gets her Ps next month so Karen needs a car so i am thinking of swapping the green car for a car for Karen for work. To the same value $5000 ONO.. So if you know anyone with a car that wants a landy LET US KNOW..or a bike & car to same value..:D

Sweet id like to buy more or atleast a SWB . Cause cody's going to need a car soon he gets his Ls this year..

Not much Cody was home yesdy with a bad cold & staying home today.Fred & i are starting to get the cold now.Karen had a fall at work on Mondy & is all bruised down her left side between boob & hip.She also had a flu shot last week so she mite be the only one to miss it this time..
Nearly finished the landy engine just a couple of things to do then its done..Pulled the engine out of Harry yesdy aswell & started to pull it all apart..Don't think i'll get to much done today or the next few days with this cold or MAN FLU as karen says i always get , But i usualy only get a cold once every 4 or so years but i do get a bad lot of it..

I been having those days again.Cant be bothered getting out of bed & Having trouble geting motivated ..Dont like life very much these days .Buying a house has fallen through again .We have always said to my parents we would need to borrow off them as well a few grand to get to where ever we buy..They said they would get a loan on there house for us to buy a house but we think its only for about 20K so would'nt get much of a house for that..But now mother is saying well use need to SAVE to get yourselves there..IF we was able to save i would have my Harry on the road by now..I think its her way of getting out of helping..Which is fine but just say ya dont want to help..But this way it doesnt make her look bad..So struggling most days here & now getting a cold aint gunna help as im terrible with a cold cause i nearly dieing Karen says :(:D..

I know how to sew a button on a shirt, so I would stitch it up for for you if you want me too do that. Should I bring my sewing needle and cotton--hope you get healed soon, John

Lots of second hand Kayaks can be found. If you can fiberglass properly, you could possibly hire a kayak mold--you used to be able to do that 30 years ago, but do not know about now. I built myself a couple of Kayaks from Fiberglass, but that was decades ago when I was in a canoe club and used the club molds.
