Hey on that metal storm thing. I wonder what happens when it mis-fires :eek2:

Theres a show on foxtel called sons of guns.,Its a guy & his daughter & a small team of workers , They make guns , They say if you can think of it they can build it they have had some misfires. But all the testing is done in a special bomb proof bunker & theres no one in there at the time..There was another show cant remember what its called but this guy used to be in the marienes & travels all round the states show the firer power of all the new wepons. Was interesting but i have'nt seen it on for awhile now..

That Sons of guns they have built some realy hight powered wepons & special one offs for the forces over there..

Something that was interesting to me was when i was building street cars , One of the guys i did work for he lived at fortscratchly with his parents as they were care takers there & i got taken through some of the tunnels that are'nt open to the public. Its incredable how far they actualy go.One goes done to the gun taret at the foot of nobbys light house..

One goes to the top of King Edward park where there used to be a big gun like whats at scratchly now.& one goes to Merryweather & there was one that goes down to the foreshore..Very interesting theres crib rooms & sleeping quarters in them.

I would'nt mind seeing all the old tunnels that are under Sydney seen a show once & the reporter was taken down to some & apperently there all over the place there..

There used to be some at Warrnersbay aswell they have been filled in now with all the houses that have gone up there..

That sort of stuff intrest me. That & the old Caterlena squad out at rathmines. I have an aunty who lives not far from it & when i was kid & we went out there i was always over there ,Plus with the old fair that used to be out there that was great i loved going on the army duck ride i was always on it..
And they used to give yes FREE show bags with all sorts of stuff in em kept me happy for a few weeks going through them.
They dont have things like that anymore, shame..

Happy Australia Day to all.

Been a bit busy lately so haven't been on the forum much. Have started work here in Darwin and also house minding so had to shift houses during the week. Not sure where we staying next. May have to crash at a mate's place because he has a camper in his back yard not being used...

Not much of a low pressure system here during the week. Only 178mm on Tuesday. :)

Well use all know we have a cat , I dont like cats.
This little cat has been real good hangs round the shed with me & just acts like a dog , we say its a dog in a cats body..
I spend a bit of time with this cat & its always with me even when i walk up the shop she comes for a walk.
I dont smake in the house so i always give it a pat & muck around with while im out there..

Well Sunday just been i went out for a smoke before bed & was playing with the cat & she rolls over so i can scratch her belly as she loves that but only i can do it..
Gets up monday to find no puss around anywhere & spent all day calling & looking for her to no avail..
Still nothing on monday night & nothing still today..
We thought for sure she dead but couldnt find a body around anywhere in the gutters all round here..
Or we thought someone has pinched her as she would all ways run out from under a tree at people walking past plus all the school kids & jumps on them till they stop & give her a pat & play with her a bit..
Well was outside yaking to karen this morning while she put clothes on the line.
And we where just about to walk in & i was talk & we heard a small week meow both shocked we looked around & here was the puss up the side of the house , so Karen goes gets her & was so happy just to see her..
I'd say she has been hit by a car or someone has hit her to get her out of there yard.
Her back legs are realy wobbly & the right a little worse & on her back just before the base of her tail seem a kink in her back bone. She has eatin heaps as we think she hasnt eatin since sunday night.
She seems ok & theres no pain as i have touched her to see how she would react but ok bar the wobbles & the heavy limp on her right leg..
she has been in on Freds bed since eating & is sleeping & we have left her alone only just checking ocationaly to make sure she is ok..
We cant aford to take her to a vet so hoping she will come good with lots of rest & sleep..
Have a mobile vet who only charges $30 for a consult so we will see how she goes over the week end & gime him a call nextweek on payday & get him to come give her a checkup..

I dont like cats at all but this one has seem to have grown on me..& its good she is home now as Karen & Fred where real upset about her not being here..
We are worried about her but will just have to see how things go by keeping her quiet & immobile as posable..

Probably hit by a car, mate. Cats are stupid when it comes to traffic. I thought I got one under the wheels of the bus today over at Wallsend. Anyrate, just when I thought I had this stupid cat, it turned and darted back to the side of the road.I'm not a real cat lover either, but I don't like cruelty to any animal.
That dropkick that was in the paper yesterday, made me sick, you know the one, he killed the cat with a shovel then cut off it's paw to show his friends. He copped 200 hours community service and had to write a letter of apology to the cat's owners. ( Yeah, sure the guy is sick). Totaly disgusting, he should have copped a jail sentence!!

Hi Banjo.
Im with you on the cats,we have 2,or should I say Lindsay and Deb have 1 each;););)
I bet your cat has been in a fight,if they are sore in the rear they were attacked,if they are sore in the front they are the attacker so the story goes.
Watch closely for an abcess forming from a bite, the cat will get very sick very quickly.
Google Cat Haven or RSPCA in your area, they should be able to do cost price vet/antibiotics for you.
Our cats constantly get attacked by strays,$100+ eack time they go to the vet:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::m ad::mad::mad::mad:
The lady who owns the general store in town is a cat lover, you should have seen the look on her face when I told her how to change a cat into a crayfish:twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twist ed: EASY I SAY,put it in a craypot:twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted:

It was becoming to easy for me to start drinking at lunch everyday cause i could'nt work here in the heat as it was outside in direct sun light & at the moment its raining so cant either..
Was getting to the point i would of been happy to start at 8 in the morning just to fill in time..
So i been going through the DTs & withdrawals again for the last couple of days & expect it to go on for a few more days yet..:(:(..

Hey Jim hope ya poota is fixed now..We finaly got the cat to the vets today.
Found one at sandgate who only charges $50 a consult. So Karen & Fred took her this morning, & Andy was right the vet said she has a male cat bit that has caused it all & gave us some antibiodics for her . Has to be on them for 10 days.He said once she has finished them she should be fine said he has seen plenty of them before & she's lucky as its not a bad one as it has'nt even broke the skin.(i'd hate to see a bad one if this is'nt bad) she lost all movement in her back legs thats why i thought it was a tick.
He said once she is done on the tablets to ring him & book in & he will desex her for us for only $80 so that was good , Going to see if he can do the dog to mite stop him peeing on everything..

I think me DTs & withdrawals where just boredom been busy allday today & been fine it was only when i could'nt do a thing.. So all is good & i can still have me drink with me T...

Also got the rest of the capping painted today aswell as the lawn & all the loads of washing we had built up from the rain..

I been busy at it lately working on Harry , Got a fair bit done..
Also had to take karens work van back so i went & picked up Karen when we did that over at Marylands way out the back of Marylands..

While we where there the boss told Karen she was selling the van & has closed up the business so Karen only has work from her on monday & thats it All done..Karen has been able to keep some of the clients she was cleaning for the boss so thats good..
We will be moving out of newcastle some time this year as we just cant aford to stay here , We are in the cheapest rental in cardiff at $300 pw.
so we been looking into moving interstate OR atleast way out in the bush in NSW..I like Broken Hill & have seen quiet a few houses for sale out there for as little as $30,000 . Years ago you could contact the counsil out there & they would send you a list of places you could make an offer on..They have been just abanded & some are for owed rates..
We missed a house out there years ago , it was a 3bdrn House on a large corner block & the house had a shop front on it. I think it was a small gerneral store from memery. It was an auction we thought was on a Friday but turned out was the day before as we knew someone out there we was going to get them to bid for us BUT we was a day late. This was about 12 to 13 years ago & it sold for a huge $250.. Yep thats right only $250 bucks.GGGGRRRRRR
Ahwell these things happen..

Ausfree
12th February 2012, 03:25 PM
Hey Banj, if you move out of the area, I would be REALLY SORRY TO LOSE A GOOD NEIGHBOUR:(:(:(:(:(:( but I understand the financial necessity to move if you have too!!! It has been on the news over the last couple of years about how cheap it is to move into some of these out of the way places!!!

Bear in mind, if you move, you will have to start from scratch in making new friends and new neighbours etc. However, it may suit you right down to the ground, being in a nice quiet neighbourhood and we can come and visit you as a holiday!!:D

Bear in mind you have a couple of teenage anklebiters who may not take too kindly to the isolation, because teenagers like to have plenty of friends around them.
However, this is a very important descision for you and Karen to make and I know it's not easy. You have to balance financial considerations along with the needs of your children as well as the cost of moving, the isolation from family and friends as well as ( and most important) your peace of mind.;)
Mate, good luck, a Big Descision and I know you will make the right one!!!:D:D:D

Also don't forget the kids will be looking for employment in a couple of years, and they really need to be in an area of a larger population where chances of employment are better. I know, I know 15 year olds are lazy with regard to that but when they turn 20 they need to move on with life and only a job can help there!!

I would like to stay here but its very hard not having a garage . I used to do a lot of car services & just general work on cars Plus panel beating & painting.Plus i would build a car to sell once a year to bring in extra cash..The last car i did that with was the HZ ute V8.Brought for $1200 tidied it up got some stuff off ebay cheap & sold it on for $3200..I had that for about 6 months as i used it while tiding up & untill it sold..
Plus making stuff for landy's.. But since being here i have only made about 3 pair of sliders. As its to hot in the sun or its raining..I nearly passed out making the sliders here in the sun & welding..
If we could find a house for the same rent as we are paying now BUT with a garage we mite be a bit better off..
I have had to pass on a few good cars to tidy up & sell on as we dont have the garage..
I have thought of going back to doing the trucks again as that was just friday afternoon till about 12 midnight that back all day satdy & was getting to be all day sundy aswell..But that was real good money at around $700 for the weekend But the responability & stress was huge..We where looking after about 3 million woth of trucks & machinery.
We are getting rid of foxtel so thats a bill gone.. We dont pay for power as such as we opted to have some taken out of our pensions every week so we are in credit for that .Water bill is high in this place. The bloody groceries cost about $200 a week & more if i go with Karen to do it :D..I not allowed to do the shopping anymore..Karen & fred do that..
So if ya see house for rent cheap with a garage let us know..
Plus the green car is starting to cost $100 a week to put fuel in with Karen using it for work , There one job she has just started at Redhead & then has to do a job back in NewLampton & its takes 45 mins to get to it with all the trafic & lights..
But i think most of it is just the cost of everyday things..

Jason, Karen, Micayla and Cody..

You have to look after yourselves and family..out back country towns aren't all that bad, Fred & Cody:) some really nice ones as well..Broken Hill is really big now days with plenty of facilities, Out back NSW is pretty good as well...I think more younger families are moving west/outback to afford living so the towns are growing again:D which is a big plus on services and community, and don't forget us travellers see these towns regularly;)so we can visit:D

Not a great deal happening here been working on Harry when i can, rains oneday the sunny the next & keeps going like that..

I have'nt heard from Aus accept the short posts so was thinking i may have ofended him or upset him.I think of Jim as i did of OLD TOM that used to call in & see me before he passed away.I have a lot of respect for Jim so does Karen & we both think Jims wife is awesome , The pair of them are always so happy..Old Tom was the only person i ever seen outside of my mother who used to call in on monday morning before her ten pin bowling..Old Tom was the only person to call in & see if i was ok. he called in weekly unless he was away.A few days after he passed away his daughter was diagnosed with canser in a very bad way & they did'nt think she would live i used to service her car regulary but have'nt seen her since Tom died .. I got a shock the other day they drove past while i was mowing the lawn & tooted to me, I was happy that day just to see them out & remember me.I miss Tom badly as we used to laugh alot & he would encourage me to keep doing what ever i was working on..I wish he got to see the green car finished & to see we have the camper & that i have been away even though it was only to my folks place..I'm hoping he would of been proud that i did that..He seen me at my worst but never ever said anything.. Yeah i miss Tom..:(

I have been meaning to get to his place but now we back to one car & Karen uses it for work & weekend to get stuff we need & isnt home much & i have'nt been out for awhile..Just never seems to be enough hours in a day lately..
Plus the green car wants to play up every other day bloody car..
When i built it we where worse off then what we are now so alot of things parts just got put back on.The only brandnew things we fitted where the springs & shocks everything else was secondhand or just put on..Oh yeah new brakes which i'm guessing need replacing by now..
We got the power steering all sorted now & Karen says its all good again.

Saw you driving the "Green Machine" this morning Karen, I did wave hoped you saw me!!! Bloody rain, I was all ready to put Concrete Sealer over our driveway. It is what they call a stencilled type which needs resealing every now and then. I last did it about twelve years ago and it is way overdue to be redone. I pressure blasted the driveway last weekend and did it again during the week plus trimming the grass right away from the edges. I bought two 20litre drums of sealer and a bag of ground glass (spread over the sealer to prevent slipping when you walk on it), plus a couple of cheap nylon brooms to brush the sealer on.

Weather has been great all week, and I wake up early this morning all primed for action, looks out the window.................Bloody Rain!!

My FL1 will have clocked up 120,000k's in a few months so I contacted ALLFourx4 to ask them to check their records as I believe the previous owner had the engine rebuilt sometime before he sold it. I wanted to check if the T-Belts had been replaced so I would'nt have to go to the expense of replacing them. The answer I got back was that they have no record of the car prior to me bringing it to them for service. This seems strange as when I first went there the receptionist looked up the computer and mentioned the first owners name. Also when I was having the Auto Tranny problems a few years back the mechanic working on my car had to order parts through them and mentioned that the vehicle has a track record there.:confused:
Anyrate, Banj, I asked AllFourx4 for a rough estimation for a 120,000k service and to replace the T-Belts and the estimate came in at just under $2,000.:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o

We have about four months to go before the vehicle reaches 120,000ks and we are starting to think about getting rid of it and buying a Jeep Cherokee!!!!!!

Hey Jim yeah Karen did see you & waved but thought you missed her as she was past you.Was on her way to get the pink slip for the camper but left her fone at home so turned around to come get it..We where running around like chooks with heads off yesdy as they have now changed the rules & it had to be paid that day ,We left it to the last possable moment so thet it was'nt due on Xmas time again. But with the rules being changed & it being the last day before the 3 months where up it had to be paid or they told us we would need a blue slip which ok but it would of been more expencive as we would of had to get new plates aswell..
We had to get a stat dek & get it signed by a JP so we could put it in Karens name as where not married . could'nt get that done so i SOLD it to Karen for $50 as it is regod as a box trailer on the rego papers..Only cost $32 all up as its on pension rego & only paid transfer & stamp duty..

Karen is going to see Peter on monday for you as she does his house on mondays about your car as that is way to much & she will see about the history of it & see if she can get a print out for you..Peter is the owner of all 4X4 kotara..Also you could go see or ring Dave at TRG on Pendelberry RD just round from us he is good & not to dear..Tell him we said to see him the ones with the green LWB landrover he'll remember us then..
Another day of rain it looks but i going to get some paint stripper so i dont have to sand much..Realy had enough of sanding..

You could look at the GREAT WALLS they same price as the Jeep but not very good in my opion as a friend has one & just had trouble with it , it Kept going into 4WD on its own & all the sensers & reversing camer went on it as well turns out a plug deep under the dash comes apart easy so they hope its fixed..

Jeeps have a reputation of being pretty expensive in the service department to apparently..Bloke up the road has one a new 4 door not the cheroky the other one. He was saying it expensice to have the service done & parts are dear aswell..

Hey i'll sell ya a green series 3 LWB ..:D:D

We are seriously thinking of selling it & moving onto a disco , something a little bit more modern ..A diesel D1 4 door be nice ..

The 120,000klm service and T-Belt change on a FL1 with a KV6 motor is a major service and I expected BIG dollars, in the order of $1,000 to maybe $1300 tops. The estimate they gave me was a worse case scenario. When you consider the vehicle is probably worth about $5k to $6k that is a fair percentage of its value. If Karen could talk to Peter and get him to sharpen the pencil a bit, it would be a great help, and would be much appreciated.:)
No way would I look at a Great Wall four wheel drive, they are crap. A bloke at work bought one brand new and he is very unhappy with it.

I might contact Modern Motors at Dungog, they are LandRover specialists. I believe the bloke who used to be the work shop manager at AllFourx4 now works there. At least I can see if the AllFourx4 quote is fair dinkum or not.(I keep calling it a quote, it is not a quote but only an estimation).;)
Anyrate Banj, I have a few months to think about it and boy have I already sunk some dollars into this car. It's going great at the moment, can't complain, but they say if you own a LandRover your hand is always in your wallet...........How true!!!!:(

Actually, now that I have calmed down a bit, I wouldn't mind trading the FL1 in on a late series D2 or D2a with the TD5 diesel motor. NO WAY would I consider the petrol guzzling V8, which do sell cheaper than the diesel!!

Almost forgot, you mentioned seeing another mechanic at Cardiff. My experience with independant mechanics is that they are not keen on working on LandRovers, particularly Freelanders. They don't have the electronic gear to read the onboard computers. The computer gear cost a fortune and to invest that much into electronic gear for the occasional LandRover repair is not worth while for them. They would rather deal in JapCrap as there is more of it out there.;)

Hi all - long time between drinks...

Jim - I have a 2002 D2 TD5 - it has around 210,000 on the clock now. I really have to admit it has been a pretty good ride for me. Having said that it'll probably crap itself next time I take it out...

They're not fast and their turning circle is atrocious. They are comfortable.

Expensive to run (it costs me around $60 a week in diesel just going to work and back).

My biggest fear is failure in a major component. You'll get little, if no, change out of 7,000 on an engine rebuild and it'll cost around 6,500 to have the gearbox redone.

Of course, there will be people who will say "do it yourself" and "those prices are excessive" - "that's wrong"

Well, I helped a mate drop the gearbox and transfercase out of his D2 a couple of weeks ago - it took the two of us 2 nights on a hoist to get that bugger out. The garage we were going to use quoted $4200 to do the re-furb - and that doesn't cover the cost of pulling it out or putting it back in.

We have found a place where we can get a refurb kit for just over 400...

But the point is, not all people can do it that way. Sometimes we just have to send it to a garage and hope there is enough in the bank to cover it...

I know you went through hell with the Freelander.

If you are going to go look at D1 or D2 diesels - look for a low mileage one and be prepared to pay a little extra.

Banjo - I am following the Harry thread. You are getting way more done on it than I am down here. It seems that every weekend is a magnet for rain these days :(

Well, it's been sunny for the last couple of days so I managed to apply the first coat of sealer to my driveway. Sprinkled ground glass over it as I went, this prevents people slipping. :)
It took me about an hour and a quarter to apply 20 litres of sealer. The driveway is one of those patterned ones so I applied the sealer with a soft broom, making sure that I got the sealer into all the cracks and crevices.:)
Have to apply a second coat which I will probably do tomorrow, as I don't start work until 1pm.:D:D

That's it from me, how is everybody else doing????????????????:)
Oh, nearly forgot, Mrs Aus accidently backed into a post in a carpark and put a small dent in the rear left corner of the Freelander near the tail light. Did not damage the taillight (phew!!). EMailed Modern Motors at Dungog who did not reply.Maybe, my EMail went astray or something!!
EMailed Triggs at Toronto and am waiting on a reply.
Contacted a local mechanic who said he would work out a price, but more than likely, close to $2000, he is a worry though because he has no LandRover experience.

Unload the vehicle and get something else (there is a nice 2004, Freelander 1 with a TD4 for sale in Sydney) even bigger dollars. The TD4 motor, I have found out does not have T-Belts but a chain.

Ah, well plenty to think about!!!!!;););)

Just got an EMail back from Triggs at Toronto which is encouraging. They quote for a 120k service and T-Belts is $1250 to $1400 depending on what needs replacing. Starting to look like I might keep the old girl yet. (um,I mean the Freelander not Mrs Aus).:)

All three companies I have mentioned are LandRover specialists.:) The problem with the Freelander V6 motor is that it has three T-Belts and it is a fiddly time consuming job!!;) I have read Threads in the Freelander 1 Section of the Forum where blokes with mechanical knowledge have done it themselves. You can buy a T-Belt kit with water pump from England for 200GBP. I even have the name of the company and the contacts name, but I am afraid I am not mechanically adept enough to try it.;)
I have spoken to mechanics who have had no LandRover experience and they are quoting just as much as the LandRover specialists. So I would rather go to the companies with the experience, pay my money and be confident they are not going to stuff things up.:)

If the car was run down, I would not bother, I would just drive it into the ground, but it is a nice looking car in tip top condition ( even won two trophies with it at the Castle Hill Landy Expo) so I am enclined to look after it:D:D:D

Well, after visiting Jason and Karen today (we enjoyed it very much, we talked on many subjects mainly LandRovers for about 2 hours) we discussed the Maitland Steamfest on the weekend of 28/29 April. Mrs Aus and I have just now booked two tickets for the "Great Train Race" where a steam train races a Tiger Moth plane from Newcastle to Maitland, looking forward to it as I have not been a passenger on a steam train since 1971.:D

Thanks Jim we had a good time to..How did Mrs Aus get on with the vet ??

Well work is slowing on Harry a bit as its getting colder & wetter here, Winter is certainly realy on its way..
Does anyone know where i could get some HEAVY DUTY REAR SPRINGS for the green one as its now not far from sitting completely on the ground & the springs look flat or straight..Has a bit of weight over the rear springs with the spare wheel the hilift & both bateries are in the back in the rear toolboxes..
Also Cody has a job interview today at 4.00 this afternoon at Maccas at edgeworth..He's a little nervouse but realy wants the job..
Fred finaly got her feret a little female & she completely looks after it as she got a talking to if she wanted it she had to do everything for it & has .Her confidance is getting better now still slowly but she is getting much better. She called her feret Lucy & she goes everywhere with Fred..
Karen lost a couple of jobs but has been offered some more so is happy about that.
I myself mite be going back to work doing the trucks again , Dont realy want to specialy now its cooler as washing them tends to turn my hands blue in the cold water ..
I just have to weigh a few things up as i will have to replace some tools i sold & get another grease gun the type that goes onto the drum there about $2000 new give or take but realy need one as i wash & grease them & doing about 4 to 6 trucks at a time makes the hand guns useless as your allways changing cartridges..
Will see what happens.
Other then that we are all good & well ..

Would LOVE a Freelander 2 (they don't have any problems) but they are above our budget!!!:( Went to Cardiff Toyota this arvo and looked at a nice 2010 model Kia Cerato. Yep, I'm afraid that's it for me.;) Still interested in LandRovers though and when I retire would love to spend my leisure time rebuilding and old Series Landy. With the "Guru" there to give advice I'm sure it would be an enjoyable project!!!:) Getting involved with the Fort Scratchley Historical Society is also on my retirement agenda, as you know I served there in the 1960's. My patience has run out with the FL1!!! However, with the transporting of my wife's elderly mother and also the grandkids ( you know the problems there,Jason, with the grandkids parents)we need a reliable every day driver and this car, unfortunatley, does not make the grade.

While I am still Pee'd off, to get this Freelander up and running would cost this:

1) Work on Auto Tranny .....up to $2,500.
2) T-Belt replacement.....up to $2,000.
3) Repair dent to rear left hand corner...up to $500.

So you can see, I am not a happy chappy. By the way we rented a Toyota Echo for a couple of days so as not to risk a major breakdown with the FL 1( it drives OK, just bumps badly going into 2nd gear) we were on our way over to Cardiff Toyota to look at cars this arvo and we passed the "Green Machine" going the other way!!:) While I'm at it, the little Toyota Echo had 151,000 k's on it and was a renter (and been abused) and it went like a rocket. When you stopped at traffic lights , you could not even hear the motor idling.

Haven't lost interest in LandRovers though, when I recover a little bit financially I think I will be in a better position to rebuild an old classic myself, as the Freelander was a constant drag on my finances!!!!

Yeah I know Jason and Karen, but we had to make a difficult descision, throw more money at a money pit or bail out and get a late model small vehicle that is reliable and economical.:) It will be easier for Mrs Aus's elderly mother to get in and out of plus it is a hatchback and there is plenty of room in the back for the shopping as the Freelander was mainly used for.:)
The engine is a 2litre init with 115kw of power and it is VERY quite and goes like the clappers, we took it down the Charlestown bypass on a testrun and it eccelerated up to 100kph in no time at all with no fuss.:)

Well use all know Fred has the same as me aswell as OCD, she's not as bad as i was at my worst thank god.
But Freds animals are her world she loves all animals , she now has a feret after years of us saying no we finaly said yes & turns out Lucy (the feret ) is nice & gentle..
Fred was a Wreck lastnite cause we have every second car around here thinks its fine to do 80 to 100 in a 50 zone. The poor cat got ****barreled lastnite by one of the speeding clowns & was in a bad shape so Fred & Karen took her to an allnight vet at Broardmedow..We had to have her put down as she was real bad..
I was outside havin a smoke & a leek & heard it & the cat scream which Fred heard to & went running i was yelling out to her to stop (Fred) while peeing on me leg & foot then i ran to the back door to get Karen to go out there quick & still managed to pee on me leg & foot..
Could'nt believe the cost to just see the vet $165 just to get them to look at her..All up it cost $300 but they sorted a payment thing called VETPAY its a finance thing so thats all good.
But Karen & Fred are very upset about it as she was a realy good cat, We used to say she is a dog in a cats body..
We still have the 2 kittens thankfully they are eating & pooping on there own..
Puss Miss Cat that was the cats names she answered to all, didnt want Karen or Fred to leave her .. She was a funny cat in that way she loved all our company & i could be out in the shed working & whistle & she would come running just like a dog..She just wanted to please us all in her own way..

Like Karen said lastnight how many more kicks are we sposed to take in this ****ed up ****y life of ours..

Its hit Fred very hard as she was always with her as her animals mean so much to her , They are her life.

Jason - so sorry to hear about the cat. That is terrible and I feel for you. We have hoons around here, too, and I won't let our dogs out the front of the house. You just can't control where a cat goes like you can a dog :(

Lucy looks like a cool pet.

BTW - how did an ugly ***** like you get such a beautiful daughter? I reckon it must be Karens genes coming out in her! :wasntme:

You know? If you do manage to get back washing trucks it means you have met, faced and destroyed another stage in your 'treatment' - which is a GOOD thing for you. Well done (if you do it).

Yes, there are periods in life when we all wonder what we did to get so much bad luck. And it always happens to the good ones, not the ****heads.

Mrs hh:angel:

and there was a poster around Rainbow bay of someone who was looking for a lost ferret which had got off its lead, so do tell Fred to be careful.

There was also a Tigermoth racing, but it was a bit knobbled., it had to do loops to make the race fairer.

Weekend finished Monday so I've been back at work, :(

We were going to go to Edith Falls but as the swimming was closed due to high water flow and the walking trails were also closed we went to a caravan park on the edge of Litchfield National Park. Being early May it was very quiet which was nice.

Went to Florence Falls on the Sat arvo and that was the first time in 28 1/2 years. Last time we were there we were the ONLY people there. Sat there were about 50 people swimming in the pool. :BigCry:

Sunday we went to the other side of the park and swam at The Cascades (Curtin Falls). Was quite nice there - a little more like our camping days at Gove. Less people too. ;)

Different experience doing everything on the blacktop though. :eek2:

Yeah i have been busy all week working in the yard tidding it up clearing some trees & an old compost pile the last people left here..Havent been feeling the best in the guts for awhile to & been depressed aswell.NO i dont know why it just hits & takes a bit to climb back out so have been trying to keep busy & pushing through it slowly getting there..Havent been out in awhile either i like to go out in the mornings so i can do what i want wen i get back home Usualy working on the car.I'm not liking this one car stuff used to having my car here ,I would atleast go down the road on me own to get smokes & even went & got some steal on me own.Like Karen says now its a bit silly her coming back home after work just so i can go down the road when she is already out & stops on the way home.I've been feeling the cold realy bad for the first time this year usualy its Karen & i wear me shorts & Tshirt right through winter dont think i''ll be doing that this year.I will get to your place again Jim dunno when but i will get there..Karen said she seen you in the bus the other afternoon think it was friday. Micayla has made some real good progress she has been shopping on her own to Charlestown which it a BIG shopping center & to Kotara shopping center i think she court the bus to charlestown & Karen picked her up inbetween jobs as she was going past the center I'm very PROUD of Fred for doing that on her own...Did use hear about the murder cuiside at Lake Macquarry the other week .It was a close friend of ours Family friend from awhile ago we last seen him when we where working doing the trucks a few years ago..
Looking forward to geting me beannie in the mail so i can wear something with landrover on it.Hey Jim i got a LANDROVER Hat hear for you i brought it but dont like it , had it awhile been sitting in a draw..A week ago thursday just been we had a huge fight in the street at half past 10 at night they desided to start so i was standing out the front in me undies watching :D well till the cops turned up that was my que to leave well sorta i sneaked out the back to see what was going on so fred came out aswell to see.Had the paddy wagon turn up then a small bus full of coppers then the ambos got here..the police ask to many questions so we came inside once they started shinning there torches on us ..Most police see me & then have to ask what im doing & why or if one drives past & im driving sure as they turn around & pull me up with lights & siren full boar .
Was going to buy one of those ozpig fires so i could work in the shed once it gets cooler & of a night. They are $300 at the camping shop but up at thornten were mum lives is a guy who makes them so karen called in there today as Cody had footy there & she was up there to take the kittens back a coupla weeks ago & thought she saw that they were $200 but when she called in there today they are actualy $260 & you dont get what you get with the ozpig..But i mite spend the money on another one of those supercheap carport things i used to have the white one & some GOOD rope to tie the damn thing down better , But then i'll be cold & wont want to go work out there :(..

Well thats it for me were off to bed..:p

Well Jim as it happens i got a phone call today about someone who has just brought a new series 3 & now has to make room..So as it turns out this person needs to sell one which is right up our ally. Its a Series 2a my favorite & a late model one so has the headlights in the gaurds , & to top it off its a 5 DOOR wagon which is just what we need as a good family car as the kids are screeming to have forward facing seats with there own doors now that they gettin bigger & the novelty of the side facing seats have worn off , so this would be perfect for us .Now the price is right for us with the school money comin through soon. BUT i have to get it home FROM Canbera .The person has givin me a month to say yay or nay on buying it so i have to look into some things about getting it home. A backload or a car carrier company or someone to get it picked up..:D:D

But i wont be doing anything to it except gorking at it for awhile till i get further along with Harry..Today i spent the day rearranging the shed to give me some more room to work..Karen is going to the caravan & camping show this weekend coming with Vickie who is excelent in HAGGLING for a ozpig as i read on the forum about guys who got theres from similar shows for just under & just over the $200 mark & its the genuine ozpig so has the bag & cooking plates so they going to look at them for me there..

Even Karen is keen to get this other series after we talked about it.. So if anyone knows anything about car transport let us know PLEASE..

Phone calls to a friend of mine who is a computor whizz and also to my Internet Provider seemed to indicate the Moden needed replacing. A quick trip to Dick Smith today and a new Modem later I am back on line!!:D:D
I guess these things happen!!!;)

We loose the phone or the internet or both regulary..Its called a LUCY she pulls the cords out only on the internet or the phone nothing else. I swear she knows what she's doing cause we have to go look see which one it is..She thinks its fun

Doesn't appear to be much happening on your Courier Thread Banjo.;) Do you have a Plan "B". I have a Truck Licence and Log Books, all we need is a truck capable of carrying a Series 2A.:D

Although, it would probably be cheaper to pay someone to bring it up as a backload!!!!

Yeah, a car carrying trailor would be the go. Unfortunately my car does not have a tow bar, anyrate I think it is a bit small to be towing that weight. Do you know any body with a Holden or Falcon or similiar, we could hire a car carrying trailor and I will drive down, maybe Drifter would be happy to put me up for the night and I can load the Series 2A onto the trailor and I can drive back next day. Don't forget I am on holidays now for two weeks.

Still thinking on it........when you factor in cost of petrol and hiring charges, to bring it up as I suggested....... $600 odd bucks to have it freighted up, does seem reasonable!!;)

Happy to help where I can!!!!!!:D:D:D

OK so it does'nt come with those wheels just standard ones..

Its a series 2a 4/72 5 door just what where after..

Has a 4.2 or 253 holden V8 fitted to a 5 SPEED nissan cabstar gearbox. So the engine wont be working hard at all & should cruise just nice for us.

I know what work & how much work has been done by the owner so know i am getting a good buy for us..
Pretty much only needs engineering for rego..But i will be doing just a few things before that..Also Karen said if or when we get it we should just leave the steering standard, I was going to convert it to power steering for her but will just wait & see how things go..
We are all looking forward to getting it if everything works out for us..

Its a deluxe bonnet.. the intirier is deluxe to by the look of it..Dont know if it was a deluxe model, BUT i think all the series models had a deluxe version even the series 1s..But the best part is the DASH steel no plastic..Its a real landy :D;)..

Dont be jealous i recon i could come up with a good deal for you later for the green one..I wont sell it but if you seriously do want one later i would sell it to you.Otherwise i keep it in the fleet just with no rego or some club rego..Plus i have some camping gear here for you to go with it or if you get a differant one Just get one you can take all the grandkids in & we can go away together..;);)

Glad you got all the pics.

Note the glovebox? :D

This one came with all the 'deluxe' fittings - including that bonnet. There are vents in the roof so the kids can have a stream of air back there, even when it is raining.

All the window seals have been replaced (you can see in a couple of the pictures where the left back window was removed while the seals were replaced).

From memory i has new universals n one of the prop shafts - the other shaft felt pretty good. New main pinion seal on the diff. New handbrake shoes.

I changed the engine oil and filter - the old stuff was pretty manky. The right hand manifold had a hole and 5 cracks in it - I had it welded up but the front pipe studs were pretty bad - so I have a replacement manifold that will be in it. (I'll let you install that - it's a terrible job holding the manifold with one hand, the gasket with your feet and doing up the bolts...

I have a heap of stuff that just looks like garage crap that will be in the back of it. It's actually some of the old door liners that the previous owner used for templates to make the new liners - and there is some other bits of the metalwork for the deluxe kit - some is spare, some is I dunno :)

New vent seals and, actually, new insect screens on the vents.

By the battery you will find a relay - that is the spotty relay - and it activates from a switch on the dash - only when the headlights are on full beam.

As you can see, there is no fan on the front of the engine - no room! There is an electric fan on the front of the radiator - you can see the bolts in one of the pics. The fan is thermostatically operated. I have a spare fan thermostat here somewhere.

Thinking of spares... I have a brand new unused brake master cylinder here that won't be of any use to me. Arrr hell, I'll throw in the brand new brake booster, too.

I'll be removing the D1 wheels, the UHF radio and the spots. I'll leave the 'defender' windscreen washers (operated by the pushbutton in the middle of the dash).

I am completely deaf in one ear so I put a remote speaker for the UHF up top behind the driver (by the interior light) and hid all the wiring - I won't remove it - you may find it handy to listen to the CB chatter at highway speed.

Thinking of interior light... the panel light switch on the dash is now a 2 position switch - and the second position lights up 2 interior lights - one above the middle front seat and the other at the inside of the rear door. All wires also hidden ;)

I ran 3 wires up the middle of the windscreen (see if you can see them in the pics). One is the interior light wire, one is a permanent power (for a radio or something in the over-head console) and the other is for the UHF and is operated by a switch on the switch panel by the drivers knee. That switch panel also has the heater fan control on it - and it works! Variable speed heat!

The freewheeling hubs on it work.

There is a fitting under the passenger seat for a second battery - that is where the main battery used to be. So you can still have a main AND a house battery in it if you want.

I could probably go on for hours :) I have certainly spent hours on it! Um - I can't remember if I refilled the diff......

There is a tool box on the front bumper - can't remember if I sent you the pic with that in it. It is lockable. The previous owner used to carry a jack, some chocks and a tow rope in there - he kept the jack and the tow rope. They are the same military tool boxes that the Army Workshop 2a's sometimes had on top of the mudguards. It's bloody handy to stand on when leaning over into the engine bay to work on stuff!

I have a full set of new 2a door hinge pins for it - they will be in it for you to install when the current ones cark it (they are OK at the moment). I have replaced some of the door locks with brand new ones, too.

Remember - this is the last of the 2a's - so it has the 27mm wheel nuts - not the smaller ones the earlier 2a's had - but the same as the Series 3 ones.

Any other questions Jason, feel free to ask.

Oh - that little black design on the front guard by the drivers door? The previous owner had a neighbour who was learning to be a tattoo artist and he did that design as a practice :)

Do they have a timeframe in mind?

Oh - you will need to check the location of the pick up place for the trailer. There was one on Northbourne but it shut down a year ago. Like anything, it wouldn't surprise me if it was still being advertised.
