Yeah me to but for fishing.I like fishing but i dont want a boat cause ya need to rego it & rego the boat plus ya need a licence nowadays..I always look on ebay at Kayaks but have been told to stay away from the 3meter ones so the ones i look at are longer & dearer.I'd have to say i realy like the Jackson kayaks there out of the USA but there a great kayak & you get what you pay for..They have one i realy like its called cuba & the cusa But they have one i cant remember the name its there bigest can take 4 people..bug tuner i think..You can get them in Australia off ebay but i guess cause use all get out more then me use could find a shop somewhere..

You can get all sorts now sit on top ones , sit inside ones & even stand on top ones..

What you should stay away from depends on your skill level, ability to learn, and what sort of water you do want to paddle in.

The poofy Pink Mega X-ray Kayak I was wanting to buy-- not because of its color, was cheep for that type of Kayak, but it would not be a kayak for long flat water paddles, as it is mainly suited to the surf. If I wanted to paddle rapids, something I did when younger then some 3 Meter "Dagger" sit in Kayaks would be very suitable, and I could paddler these on flat water as well.

As far as price, I have 2 Fiberglass sit in Kayaks that need repairs for only $25 each, both have been patched before--and I purchased a kayak for only $20- at salvos once. [paddle, etc., would be extra]. I am not recommending these, but give them as examples of how cheap a Kayak may be, if you are in the right spot at the right time. One of these appears to be an old Down River racer, and the other I purchased for $60-- in a clearing sale. It is a 4 meter long Letman Slipper Slalom Kayak, great for white water touring, but needs work. I am about to fix and paint it, but price would increase then, as I want to sell all my Kayaks to get a plastic surf Kayak-- no more repairs, or if a repair because the plastic goes brittle when it is 10 years or so old, by plastic welding.

I am putting these into the Tender Center to sell them.

I did surf a Canoe Polo Kayak 3-4 days a week, for nine months, a Kayak that cost me only $49-- from a Kayak shop-- it needed a repair, which I did when I purchased it. I am planning on doing a repair andoffering it to an interested man for $195 with a paddle-- it was the one I was going to keep as a spare, but this guy wants this 2.75 Meter Kayak, and I want the money to get that surf Kayak-- similar Mega X-ray on Gumtree Mega X Ray Surf Kayak 3 Metre | Kayaks & Paddle | Gumtree Australia Noosa Area - Noosaville (http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/noosaville/kayaks-paddle/mega-x-ray-surf-kayak-3-metre/1010578120) but the ad is wrong, they are 2.25 Meter, not 3 Meters. But the poofy Pink one that I was chasing was only $350-- a better price, but in South Australia, hence transport/distance problems. These are $1000 New, which I cannot afford.

I also have a early Lettman olymp Slalom Kayak that I hope to get $195 for with a coat of paint paddle, spray skirt and helmet.

Also I have an old Chez C2-- two man canoe like a Kayak, but normally paddled differently, like a Canadian canoe. It needs repairs modifications and I would let it go for about $200 with crap paddles. And I do not recommend this one for an inexperienced paddler.

Do note, I am not saying you guys should buy any of my Kayaks, I am giving examples of how cheap old second hand white water Kayaks can be.

And I no longer paddle rapids but used the slalom single man Kayaks in the ocean--near to shore, and have surfed waves with them.

I should tell you why we should not surf these. The 4 meter long slalom Kayaks turn sideways to the wave, so while you are bracing with the paddle, in an effort not to be tipped over, your Kayak is mowing down little kiddies with their floaties, as you have no control over it, and they are too young to get out of your way.

The Canoe Polo Kayak at 2.75 Meters was controllable in that I could miss people who got in my way.

I used both of the slalom Lettman Kayaks, and the Canoe Polo Kayak to explore numerous coves in the Tweed River when it was too windy choppy to go out, and paddled them a couple of Kilometers along the coast, etc.

before you go fishing look at this thread of mine http://www.aulro.com/afvb/general-chat/173112-i-will-not-take-up-kayak-fishing.html

And look at the picture showing the Kayak in this link The true story - Thomas P. Peschak (http://www.thomaspeschak.com/kayak-great-white-sharks-/)

and then repeat after me. "I no longer am as interested as previously in Kayak fishing."

Oh, and if after this you do want to go Kayak fishing, consider a old surf ski-- can be had for under $100--. I have 2 for sale for half that. One wont float my 80 kilograms, one is for a guy whose legs ate several inches longer than mine. And I have another that is better and a bit more money. All surf skis and Kayaks have been sitting unused for some years.

Of course if you fish up little creeks among the mangroves in your Kayak the only bities to worry about may be snakes & Mossies. These pics do not make me give up on a Kayak, but I am not attracting sharks with wounded fish and fish blood in the water.

I paddle out to a couple of hundred Meters from shore, and this season hope to see a Hump Back Whale up close from my long sit on top which I got curb side shopping on a clean up day. I do not plan to use this one for anything other tan whale watching, as it is not my sort of Kayak-- you are not legally allowed closer than 100 meters to a whale, but they will often swim right up to you.

I had dolphins bump into my canoe Polo Kayay in the surf. A male--I think, was chasing a female, and she swam under my Kayak and around a Japanese girl on a boogie board, trying to get away from the male who was chasing her.

You need practice not to tip over in such circumstances, but it is hard to tip over when you have had some practice.

I'm not to worried about the sharks .If there gunna get you there gunna get you..I used to do lots of Snorkling & spear fishing & ebaloney .I remember diving out at Cathrine Hill Bay under the big long jetty Dock..Had a bag of fish & crab & a bloody shark came past & desided to taste me bag & dragged me for about 10 meters ..Left after that i think it was just trying to give me a scare. Sorta worked But i still kept fishing for a couple of hours..

Visited my one and only nephew who has had a stroke and is Maitland Hospital!!!! All appears to be OK, he seems to be talking OK. You never know when a stroke can hit, he is 55 years old.

If anybody thinks they are having a crappy life.....try this on for size.

Kevin (my nephew) is the eldest son of my older brother. Kevin used to have three brothers..... now have a look at this list....

1) Paul died in 1969 at the age of 7 with a hole in the heart.
2) Greg age 18 was killed in a car accident in 1978, age 18.
3) Tony died of aids in 1995 aged in his 30's.

Cliff, Kevin's father (my older brother) died in 2003 of a heart attack at the age of 67 and Kevin's mother died a year later after 6 strokes aged 69.

Kevin is separated, living on his own and has no contact with his former partner and his 17 year old daughter. This distresses him somewhat. Upsetting for Mrs Aus and me too.

Sooooo, I think Kevin has certainly been hit with the bad luck stick.

Sorry

they certainly can be very scary as like heart attacks can really happen to anyone anytime

but our lifestyle can greatly lessen the risk--and I have had a heart attack.

Well had a very busy week this week . got some parts in for the landy engine..Did our lawn also did Garry's lawn as im doing for him while he is away in Europe.Micayla had a job interview this week on Wednesday out at Omalley's Quarium at 11.. Wnet for the interview & got a trial on Thursday at 9 So she went for that & was showed around & did some jobs..Was there for about 3 hours & the boss said Thanks & he will give her a ring ,Has others doing the same thing,So fingers crossed for her..I'm very proud of Fred for it as she does have a lot of my anxieties..She is still doing her work placement at Argy pets for the 4 hours on a Friday & a Saturday mornings..She can go for her Ps in June i think the 14th at the earliest so she said she is going to book in for the 14th..She has been going to talk to tattoo shops on her own as she wants to get a full sleeve & is talking to then about what she wants , Its all grey wash & will look good when its all done . She has the money saved for it so just needs to sort what she wants & book in..She will sit for about 6 to 7 hours At a cost of about $500 to $600 for the day..Looks like it will rain today ..Have a few things to do today but a bit slower ..Its been bloody cold here most mornings ..Even had to have the heater on of a night ..

tell Fred that some of us are proud of her as well, and some of us also have anxieties.

Just about done.& ive been working on the V8 out of Harry.Checked all the numbers today & it was built on the 9th of April 1973 at 5 o'clock..& its still all standard theres been no work done to it at all..Will be deburring the inside of the block soon then it will go around to the machine shop just around the corner to be chemicaly cleaned & have the machine work done..Being bored 40 tho decked & the cam bearings will all be bored & new cam bearings fitted. The crank Bearings will all be bored so will all the rods..I have to check the engine number just to make sure it was'nt stollen..NOT SAYING Drifter stole it .Just incase, The person Drifter brought it off never got it registered so i'll just check..Hope not i hate getting new engine numbers..LMAO..It will be running ALUMINIUM heads with stainless steal valves & seats for the ULP..A new electronic dizzy with built in coil.New inlet manifold With new holley with new offroad kit through it that way it dont stall on angles..The crank will get a regrind if i dont use a 308 crank. Also looking for some block hugger headers for it or i'l get the kit & make some..Its been awhile since i've been working on the holden V8s its starting to come back..If i end up getting a garage here i'm going to start making alot more stuff for the landy's & i would'nt mind doing engines again.I'm also looking into getting a TIG welder & a plasma cutter to make life a little easier.I've never used a TIG before but know how they work & whats involved so a bit of practice should get me going on it..cant believe how cheap plasma cutters are now..TIGs are'nt that dear these days..Just stuff i'm thinking of doing or dreaming of doing..I would'nt mind making some aluminium fuel tanks & door tops , I've just got to find the right shape for the door tops & i'm nearly there on that..But if i can get some the right shape i'm going to do door frames aswell..The landy engine is all Brandnew..Brandnew cam bearings main bearings rod bearings .Brandnew fuel pump,Carby, Electronic dizzy. These are designed to work with a standard coil.New hose & belt kit.brandnew clutch went on today has new throwout bearing & the little clip.New rings mostly all new bolts on the manifolds New bolts on the rocker shaft. All gaskets done & new cork in the rear main. I dont know why everyone has so much trouble with them mine go in easy using a couple of feeler gauges :D.So its just like a BRANDNEW engine now..& it even looks pretty..

He has a series 1 there i want but if i do a deal on the both can get them both a little cheaper.
I have driven that green one it steered well had a good engine and gearbox needs the breaks attended too as it pulled to the right and the suspension needs doing.
has a little bit of rust in the firewall and doors but overall is quite good.

Yeah its not bad.. when i brought the green one i could put my head through the rust holes in the baulkhead & had to replace the dumb irons .. And to me that was a project car took 3 years to finish..That one would take me anout 3 weeks tops to get rego on it.. Harry probably going to be at least 3 to 5 years before it gets done & finished as i just cant afford to do it.. Engine needs a lot of work ..Dunno bout the gearbox.. & i just dont have a shed..

Got a lot of things in me head that i could build to get extra money in but dont have the money for some more tools or the material to build em..

Landy Smurf

I dont think it had any rust in the dumb irons or the chassis. It has a homemade rear crossmember on it.
there was a little rust in the bottom of the doors but nothing to worry about just little holes and seems like it wasnt going any further.
the rust in the firewall was in the a pillar but you would get it passed rego no problems on that.

New inlet manifold.Block hugger headers. New holly 4500 or the 465 ..New dizzy electronic with built in coil. New pistons & rings.Posable new 308 crank .& probably shot peened rods..
Oh did i mention i used to build up holden V8s all the time mainly did the 308 to 355 ci strokers. & the occasional 253 fully over done..

I would like to buy more landy's to ..I still have to find the front stage one radiator brackets that the radiator sits in & the surport bolts to on the bottom front of them.. cant find em anywhere ..

Tony be very carefull when you open the drawers on that brand of toolbox. They tip over very easily.& usualy onto feet.Or you will try to catch it & save the top only to get your feet smashed by the bottom when it gets your feet while trying to hold the top half..

Sometimes, the cruel truth is, that some things cannot be fixed,.....EVER.
In these circumstances, and as you would be aware, you would not be alone.
The ONLY way that you (and importantly, your family), can "get through" this stuff is with the LOVE & UNDERSTANDING of those close to you. VERY hard on them.....but it's the only way.
Some people NEVER know the true meaning of "LOVE",.....but believe me, it can fix ANYTHING.
Good Luck, Pickles.

Sorry about that. It has rust in all doors and firewall and some chassis, the interior was pretty messy but have seen worse.
had an electric fan on instead and got hot very quickly with the fan on.
I think dad said there were quite a few things that needed replacing.
I think assuming the engine didnt pack it in, it would cost you around 9k at least to get it back on the road, so i decided not too.
The stage one is only good for the running gear and he wants $2500 for that which is more then double of what i wanted to pay for it.

O there was a mention of "Ghost Town" on TV the other day [or maybe my face book page]. Ghost towns are where most people have moved away, and so houses cannot be sold, hence are very cheap. Yes, you may find it is not the greatest place to live, but would be cheap.

Got a tow bar put on the little hatchback, yesterday.:D I had to replace the towing ball on the gooseneck with another (smaller) size ball as my trailor is quite old. Would you believe that Hayman Reese have welded reinforcing on each side (underneath) the gooseneck with the result you cannot get a spanner onto the nut to release the ball.

I don't know why Hayman Reese saw fit to reinforce the gooseneck, what do they think I'm going to tow with a little hatchback, a ten ton trailor???

Adjustable spanner, wouldn't fit, socket set would fit but the screw thread protruded that far through the socket would not reach over the nut. Rang a friend of mine who is a boiler maker, thinking he may have a large range of spanners, no luck. Rang Jason, again no luck. So I took the gooseneck off the towbar and took it back to ISP (who fitted it) and they took the ball off and attached the old one I had.

Alls good now, but I will have to look around for some sort of tube spanner to fit in case I need to change the towing ball!!:(

Yeah it was the 2.25 . Now have some room in the shed.. Thanks Dave i thought it was a pretty average write up .. Well for me it was i usualy go a little overboard with my write ups.. Yep still got the 253 holden to work on.. Its never had any work done on it since it was built in 73. . Its going round to be chemacly cleaned all the cylinders to be bored . & all the cam Bearing & rod & main bearings need to be bored out.. I am going to run VN V8 heads as there aluminium & all ready for ULP. It will be getting an electronic dizzy with inbuilt coil aswell. And i'm tossing up wether to use a water pump alternator or just use the standard type.. But thats only going to get done if i can get this agent to cough up the letter about putting my shed up.. We wont put it up till they give us the letter because we dont trust them or the owner.. They have told us we can put it up as long as theres no cost to the owner. And that the owner has said this.. But if i did put it up without the letter we sure the owner & them will turn around & say we never said you could do that but cause you have then it has to stay..

That diesel would be a good buy.
Still a little bit interested in the v8, I really need something with rego or that needs no or extremely little work for rego as I do not have the tie or space to do work for a while.
I may be on too a nice s3 swb just need to talk to the owner a bit more.

You link to a 3.9 diesel, then say a V8??? We had one of these diesels-- some rust in the hangers, and did drink a lot of water. But was a great car otherwise. It had almost a million Kilometers on it, and the head had never been off.

Well Last thursday night i was mucking around with fred & i got so out of breath & having trouble breathing.. So Friday morning when i got up i put on a patch on. Didnt smoke all day . I had 2 & a half packs left so sold them to one of Fred's friends & they saved a few bucks & i got most of me money back. I did have a smoke late friday night BUT it was a rolly. I put a patch on again saturday & lasted till about 2 ish then smoked some rollies.. Sunday i only lasted a few hours on the patches. But by this time all the chemicals in the taylor smokes was out of my system..So i have gone from smoking every half hour on the taylors sometimes every 20 mins.. To now where i have a rolly around an hour But sometimes its 2 hours in between them.. Since last thursday night we have saved well over $100 but by this sunday it will be well over $200. I will probably always smoke But am glad to have cut it in half & more then half sometimes.. & it should slow right down. So we probably spend $40 ish a fortnight instead of $150 a week.. YAY..

I have also been recieving this week alot of HIKING gear as we are going to start to get out once the weather is a bit warmer.. & its something i really want to do.. I have also brought a 1 man tent as i am going to try this on my own.. Should be interesting. But its something i want to do.. Funny i hate walking around here street walking as such.. But i love walking in the bush.. I will walk on trails but i love to walk where there's no tracks. You see so much & so many animals. & i can walk around till i find enough room to just set up my little 1 man tent & no one is going to walk past & i dont have to share a camp ground.. Unless i have no choice at all then i'll just have to suck it up & stay in a camp ground where there maybe others aswell..

Oh & the little smoking i do now must have some effect as i put my 1 man tent up today & pulled it down & packed it up again about an hour later & i was'nt out of breath or needing to sit down. Was fine to just keep going & i was'nt trying to rush it which is something i usualy do because i get out of breath..

Jason, please give up completely. I do know people with Emphysema. It is not reversible and it cannot be cured. Stop Smoking now and do not get worst with Emphysema.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emphysema

If you cannot give up keep using patches, or try nicotine gum. But stopping completely is best. You can do it, do not give up.

Drinking lots of water and having a few showers a day helps. Nicotine is excreted through the kidneys as well as the skin, showers do wash it away before the nicotine can be re-adsorbed through the skin-- that is how a patch works.

Lots of fruit juice, clear broth soups, etc. will also help.

this is from the original five day plan to quit smoking:--

http://sthelena22.adventistchurchconnect.org/article/144/ministries/health-ministries/stop-smoking-in-five-days

http://www.adventisthealth.net/smoking.html

http://www.uhs.wisc.edu/health-topics/tobacco/documents/Five_Day_Plan.pdf

Jason, You can do it, and this five day plan does not cost you a cent.

If you can stop for five days only, you can quit forever.

I have to agree with JohnF on that.

It IS hard, no doubt, I've been off them for over 3months now and still have intense cravings.

I recommend the "livestrong" quite smoking app on your mobile phone (if you are in to that kind of thing) and I used the nicotine spray as I was allergic to the patches.

I definitely don' get short of breath as easily now.

Vald, glad you have been free of your legal drug addition for Three months. If you can last 3 Months you can last forever-- knowing if you smoke just one cigarette you will be hooked again

Caffeine & Nicotine are chemically similar -- note the "ine" on the end of both these names which in Chemistry does mean they are Chemically related. So drinking Caffeine does increase your cravings for nicotine. So do drink decaf or a caffeine free Herbal Tea, Natures Cuppa, etc., for a while may help with cravings.

Drinking alcohol--lowers will power, affects Judgment, etc., according to Medical Science testing, is a very good way of again getting back onto smoking Cigarettes again, so do be careful of this.

Having "FRIENDS" offering you Cigarettes is a way some get back on to the nicotine habit, so be very careful with that.

And being in a room where you can smell people smoking also will not help.

So please do be careful to avoid these temptations.

If you are tempted to a point where you think you could give in have a cold shower-- Cold shower is healthy as it stimulates the Immune system, and you cannot smoke while in the shower. The strong urge often passes within five minutes and lessens after that time.

Thats the thing it is very hard & everyone is differant in how long it takes to cut down or to stop.. I myself was happy to have cut down to half.. I dont smoke every half hour or the sometimes every 20 mins.. I now only smoke one an hour but most of the time its out to an hour & a half to 2 hours inbetween smokes.. BUT i still enjoy a smoke so am happy to have cut it by half & more most of the time.& Karen is very very happy where i am with it as we are saving over $100 a week.& i'm sure my smoking will cut down even more over time , & the inbetween times will get longer as i now roll my own & i dont sit there of a morning & roll a heap of smokes for the day , If i did that i would smoke every half hour or even 20 mins.. So im happy where i am at the moment & again i'm sure this will get even less smoking over time... BUT I DO ENJOY A SMOKE SPECIALY AFTER T..:p:p:D:o:eek:

Awesome work.

Do it at your own pace. Every one less you smoke is better for you than if you did smoke it. Only you know what your body will tolerate.

There is NO quick solution. Just as long as you are cutting back.

Keep up the good work!
