Yes first coil sprung we have had.. When I first drove it , it was as sloppy as buggery & all over the place like a fat lady on a roller coaster.. Havent realy driven it since the new suspension went in.. But I recon it will be about the same just a little softer .. But if the series was loaded up it would be the same , As the parabolics work best when theres load on them..

The green car is now BACK in use as Karen & Cody had a prang in the boy toy (subar now rooted )..They turned into our street at the pie shop with a car in front of them & it pulled over to the side so Karen drove past ONLY the other car desided to now pull into the pie shop driveway & straight into the side of the boy toy all over both doors & smashed the passengers side window . Lots of dents & skid marks .. The other driver said oh I forgot to look .WTF !!. So now waiting to hear back about insureance from her.. GGGGGRRRRRRRRR

banjo
24th September 2013, 05:54 PM
THAT WAS JUST THE ICING ON THE CAKE. Karen has been having blood tests over the last few weeks .. We now know she doesn't have aids or hep A, B or C.. She now has to go see a specialist. As her kidneys aren't working very well nor is her liver.. Karen read the report for the specialist & looks like she has sists on her Kidneys & says Kronic liver disease.. So has specialist appointment next Tuesday at 9.. So more blood tests & scans , she has had one scan already.. So we have put a stop on spending at the moment..

There is history in the family for kidneys & live disease..I went with Karen to the doctors on sunday.. He said theres NO cancers that they can see or secondery cancers.. But theres something wrong & its not something they can fix with medication he said.. So we have to just wait & see the specialist on tuesdy.. Its worrying I tell ya..

All Karen is worried about is not being able to work & having to goto hospital..

Dunno its not good either way.. Will fill use all in as we find out ourselves.. Well if ya interested anyway..

YES we realy don't need this right now. Where both stressing over this specialist appointment on Tuesdy. Karen has sists on her kidneys & there not working efficiently enough. Her Liver isn't working efficiently either.& its going to be a hospital stay for her & she stresses over that as she worries about us all here, tho we can survive ..
I need to finish off the disco so can sell the green one , But its a bit hot out there in the sun & a bloody WHITE car don't help..

Only have to put the control box on for the winch & wire it up.. Put the awning on the rack legs..& find somewhere to bolt the second battery & wire it up. And flush all the brake system out replace the rubbers under fluid resivor put the new pads in on all 4 wheels.. BUT if I do the brakes now first I don't think i'll get it back long enough to do anything else to it.. It is registered & drivable but the brakes have to be done as i'm not happy with them .. So I think i'll be doing them last..:angel:

Had a confrontation with the dickhead across the back this morning.

Last Saturday night he decides to throw bread across our fence and also (I don't believe it) meat wrapped in a plastic bag which he throws on our awning area out the back, makes terrible racket and scares the daylights out of Mrs Aus. I had gone to bed early as I had an early start the next day.

Our back fence is 6 foot high as we have had previous problems with him and I had the fence built to keep him away.:mad:His paddock would be about an acre in size and filled with trees.

Well, I'm fuming and as I know he likes to go for a regular early morning walk I decides to wait and nail him when I see him.

Bingo, it took a week but I caught up with him this morning and I let him have both barrels and get this, the slimy worm denies he did it.Neighbours on either side (who I get along fine with) had previously denied any knowledge after I asked them politely.

I told him, if he does it again, I will be going legal, I had steam coming out of my ears after the worm denied he did it.. What a "man", he won't face up to what he did.

Bit like our accident Karen had.. We have found out now , That they put the claim in saying Karen was in the wrong , BUT there saying the woman stoped in the middle of the road with blinker on to turn into the driveway & Karen went around her on the right..ITS TURNING INTO A NIGHTMARE .Where not sure where to go or what to do . Just playing the waiting game at the moment.. Karen did go back to the scene & took heaps of pics of all the GLASS on the road from there car ALL OF WHICH IS ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ROAD.. We have to write a letter saying Karen denies she was in the wrong & email it to the insureance so we are going to put all the pictures in with the email aswell..

And to top all of that off I spent allday under the disco yesterday .. I put all the new brake pads in Then bled all the brakes YES correctly.. & when I started the car to try them out well there just as bad as before I did this.. The pedal is spongy as buggery & you need lots of pedal pressure to stop the car.. OH & the brake lights are still staying on.. I read on the forum about the lights so can fix that.. The Brakes are ****ing me off big time. I will replace the master cylinder Maybe tomorrow after Karen finishes work if we have enough money as we have to see the specialist on Tuesday.. The master cylinder was leaking out the 2 rubbers under the resivor so I replaced thos BUT I think its leaking elsewhere in the master cylinder.
I also read on here to check the flexable lines for swelling so will do that aswell. & replace if needed. other then that I have no idea..& i'm getting sick of being under this car already & just about had enough of working on it.. We just want a decant car that we can use for what we like , Up the bush & the rougher the better .. That why we got the rims & tyres the winch & everything else we bought so we could use it for & how we like to use them..I'm sure I will sort it eventualy I spose..

Not to much need to sort the brakes on the disco. I think it needs a new booster . I drilled the holes in the roof rack legs to bolt the awning onto But cant hold it by myself so couldn't finish that job either.. Still have to find a spot for the second battery & put all that in.. But other then that not much.. Took Karen to the specialists today. $205 for a 10 minute visit just to tell us to go get more blood tests which he thinks will show nothing more then they have , So Karen will have to go & have a liver Biopsy . We go in 3 weeks for the bloods results but its only $105 then.. The Biopsy is at John Hunter hospital & only take about 4 minutes BUT Karen has to stay there for 4 hours laying down after it.. So needless to say I wont be going to that one with her.. SICK PEOPLE GOTO HOSPITAL..

Haven't heard a peep from the sniveling worm over the back since I blasted him last weekend. Problem with these sort of people is that you try and be nice to them and bend to their wishes and they then start to keep pushing the envelope.

I'm a person that will be very nice up to a point and if people keep pushing then "BANG" I've had it and do my block.:bat: Really, you should let these type of people know where they stand right from the beginning, saves problems later on, I think.

No, it started over my wife feeding birds, don't forget he has a large paddock backing onto our place. He objects to this, reckons birds spread disease!!!

He started patrolling up and down the fence when my wife was out the back, my wife felt uncomfortable, with him there all the time, so I built a 6 ft fence so he couldn't see over. I won't have my wife feeling uncomfortable in our OWN backyard. What we do in our own yard is our own business.

Problem escalated when a neighbour on the side of us decided to feed the birds by throwing breadscraps over onto the idiots property, the neighbour was unaware of previous problems, the idiot thought it was us. My wife uses a specially made up seed for wild birds that she buys at a pet shop, she does not use bread.

I have asked the neighbour on the side not to do it as it is causing problems for us, he understands.:)

Get this though, neighbour on the other side of me coincidentally plans to build a bird avairy, I can't wait for this.:twisted:

Hey Jerry is that for the engine conversion you've put into the door mobile ?? If your ok at reading the wirring diagrams You can get the one for the series & the one for the engine & car it came from to make a new harness.. I rewired all the green one using a series 3 diagram.. You just need to find each wire on the engine & cross reference it to the wirring diagram for it so you know where it goes to & what it was for & then you can splice it into the series wirring loom so that it works as it would in the original loom..Or splice the series loom into the one from the donor car & engines loom..

jerryd
6th October 2013, 11:16 PM
This is a mess that came with the car after it had been vandalized  I've just found those extra switches buried out of sight after I was tracking a spark that kept appearing near the windscreen

Regards to the first pic it shows the starting system :D

Turn original ignition key to unlock steering, turn other key and headlight switch on, flick switch on underneath next to 12 volt socket, then press starter button and stand back :lol2:

I was going to try and figure out how to put it back to the original ignition but it's complicated. So instead I've recovered the dash top, fitted a bit of defender dash, sorted the damaged wire and hidden all those other switches again ;)

OK so I got a return spring for the pedal & now the pedal comes all the way back & the brake lights are now going off.. I also rebled the front brakes as I think I may have done them separate not the 2 together so redid..

I took the car for a drive today up hills down hills stoping lots.. They still feel spongy but are working ok. So ill give it the benefit of the doubt with the new pads.. Doesn't skid if you hit the brakes hard but it does stop..Doesnt seem to need much pressure on the pedal to slow down & stop..

I will get the wife to take it to ALL4x4 again just to get a second opinion BUT I THINK THERE FINE .SO ill say there sorted & just need to bed in.. Now to get out & enjoy it.:D:D

I thought she brought me the disco ..:(:(:(

I still have other things to do to the disco. BUT I want to do something with the seat as the front sits up & its hard to get the accelerator cause you have to push the front of the seat push it down as such.. The bottom seat swab is worn out must of had a fat ass in there. Will either raise the back with spacers or put a towel on the bottom at the back of seat to level a bit.. Hi Lional How are you how have you been keeping hope all is well

G'day Jason,

I am still kicking.

It would be good if I could land a full-time permanent job which had some meaning and was actually worthwhile. One where I could use my skills for good and not evil .

Otherwise how can I support my Land Rover habit and get one on the road to take for a spin with full registration?

Good to read that you have sorted your brake situation out. :)

I hope your second opinion on your brakes confirms that the problem is sorted and you can take Karen on the trip away that you both deserve.

Having to circle the wagons and fight off the Injuns all the time like you seem to have been doing lately can certainly take the gloss out of life. I think you and Karen need some quality time together!

Kind Regards
Lionel

G'day Banjo,

Gee what is that green stuff that you parked the Disco on - it looks newly mown too. It has been a long while since I recall seeing grass that looks green. Here in Bundaberg we have a very brown variety that crackles under foot.

Oh and the Disco is looking really good too :D

Looking good Jason :) Can I ask what make the awning is ??? and where did you get that green grass :D Ours is almost dead as we've had no rain since April.

We ran out of water last night  and after ringing around this morning I was told monday/tuesday was the earliest I could get a delivery, it seems everybody in this area has run their tanks dry.
I was lucky this afternoon, I hijacked a water carrier and persuaded him to fit an extra load in to busy schedule

We normally rely on rain water, but thankfully we have a council trickle feed for one of our 3 tanks. We had to turn that on 3 weeks ago. The other 2 tanks are dry.

It pains me to pay for water, especially when the council stuff tastes like crap, but it's not something you can do without.

Jerry the awning is a G-camp I got it off ebay for $185 delivered. Its 2 m wide & 2.5 deep .. So easy to use..

My parents used to have to buy water in once a month when they had there small farm at Patterson..

Could use put a bore in ??? But I guess the cost of that would probably cost more then what use have to buy in , & a lot of people cant handle bore water & get the trots a lot from it..

Also found out you cant buy the retaining clips for the headlights separately you can only get them in a bag of a veriaty of clips & that's $90 .But I guess you could get them on there own if you where'nt in a hurry for them.. Mine is a 1992 model.. Not sure what is the original , But I need the round barrel type so I can move my power steering fluid resivor & theres a ball thing with 2 hoses going into it If I have the round one it will give me some room in front of it to put these that way I can put my second Battery under the bonnet on the passenger side :D:D..Theres nothing wrong with mine its just to big & in the way :(..

Hi there Jase, you can do a second battery without replacing the square air filter - here is mine, you just have to modify the airbox outlet to the snorkel - block off the old one that points towards the battery and cut a new one on the other side - you can just see it in the pic. The power steering reservior bracket can be bent out of the way. By doing this i was able to fit 2 blue top exide batteries which I wired in parallel rather than use an isolator - that way you always have 2 batteries together for the winch and the fridge draws evenly off the top of both batteries - just make sure you set your low battery cut off on the fridge. It is, I believe, kinder on the alternator too, or so I was told..........

Well we heard back about the insurance late today.. They have ruled KAREN"S in the wrong BUT we know she isn't at all.. The other party have comprehensive we only have 3rd party. & there word & diagram is worth more then our word our diagram & OUR PICTURES.. ****ing ****s they **** ya off.. Ive had enough & ive been fighting depression bad lately & the only thing keeping me alive is I don't want Karen or the kids to find me.. We also want to go away BUT its very hard to let go of the kids & leave them home alone .. We have never been apart from them because my agoraphobia is just a joke to our families so they never baby sat ever as , well use don't go out use don't need a baby siter so wouldn't even just take em for one night for a break .. So it is hard for us cause we have been around them every day since birth.Plus with the bull**** nit picking they do to each other they would just fight & I think Cody may just take it a bit to far..Theres never been anyone in our families to help out that way as im just a ****ing joke. & I am getting sic to ****ing death of allways being a nice person . Need to be like I was in my old life.. But I don't think id keep many friends being that way again..Broke my fone so got the old iphone 3 out to use , Had to get a new sim for it as it don't use mini sim Then we ****ed that up aswell since we used karens fone to ring them to activate it , its now activated to Karen's number so have to redo all that again.. Still have to get a swag yet to go away . Looking at those roo systems double swags there good value for money them so will get one of them..And im sic of these bloody rollies GGGGGRRRRRRRRRR..We just cant afford to fight them over it all.So it wont be getting fixed at all..

Also the little Subaru we got for Cody for his Ls the one that got smashed ..
So I am going to swap the green series 3 LWB for a small car for him , would prefer a manual but will look at anything . If anyone is interested or knows anyone that may please tell them to contact me please & I can tell them all about it . Value I will put $4,200 ono on it..I will put it in the markets aswell I just cant be bothered just now. To ****ed off to do it now..

Also have those wheels here the alloy ones with good tyres on them..

Got to get out of this ****ing house. all I do is sit in the shed & look like the retard that I am.. ive just had enough.Life for us just goes backwards no matter how hard we try to go forward ..We never finished getting stuff for the disco as Karen's health is more important than anything else .. Its the waiting around that's a pain in the ass..

Its true what they say all the bad **** happens to nice people .. The bloke we deal with at all4x4 asked Karen if she was ok as he noticed she has lost so much weight, So Karen told him about it , he seen Karen outside not around everyone.. & he said the same thing **** always happens to nice people , his wife is fighting breast cancer. & he is a nice bloke always helps Karen . has become a friend . Not that we go out & do anything with them just a good work friend I guess that's what im trying to say..

On a different note Fred is still working at macas & has been offered a traineeship a sertificate 2 in hospertality .She's glad she is working she was telling me today because she likes the money. Actualy she likes spending it more then earning it. She loves her tattoos & had her stomache tattooed lastweek hurt to she said, I said na just be like me & enjoy it & go to sleep :p.

well that's about it I guess.

Goodluck with the rest of it and our best wishes to Karen.:D

Had a bit of a drama at work last week. One of the busdrivers had a heart attack in the lunch room. They had to get the ambulance for him. Lucky he wasn't driving at the time, otherwise it may have been a disaster.:o

He will now have to have a full and comprehensive health check, to be able to drive again ( he's OK now and at home, recovering) but I doubt if he will be able to convince the company's doctors that he is well enough to drive buses again.:( Nice bloke too, as you say Jase, **** happens to nice people.

Yes I know what you mean .. Its wrong but.. I cleaned all the glass out of it thismorning. We where lucky in the respect that the paint isn't damaged , So I am going to try & straighten what I can & push the door handle back out . Then all I need to do is find a window for it.. Theres a lot of tyre skuff along the car so i'm hoping I mite be able to buff it out.. & because its black you cant realy see the big dents so when I straighten it you shouldn't see it unless you run your hand over it. That's pretty much the only way to see it now..Karen wants it back to use as she likes it.So I can get the disco back then :D:p..I don't like small cars feels like your dragging you bum on the ground . Tony,

Be very careful buying anything from eBay Hong Kong or China. It all goes through the Hong Kong Post Office and they have recently introduced a scanning policy whereby EVERYTHING is now scanned. 'They' say it only adds a week to the shipping time but I am still waiting for stuff I bought at the start of September.

From the eBay website:

Recently the Hong Kong Post announced that all items posted by air are now subject to x-ray screening for regulated materials. This additional screening may cause delays in shipment due to no fault of the seller, so if you purchased an item from a seller in Hong Kong, please allow extra time for delivery - at least a week more than the seller's stated delivery time. Also note that items containing the regulated materials are being returned directly to sellers and not delivered to the buyer. These items may include:

Items with lithium batteries such as video cameras, walkie talkies/2-way radios, GPS devices, radio-controlled toys, Bluetooth headsets, smartphones/mobiles, laptop computers, shavers, power drills, tablets and portable DVD players
Liquid beauty products, including fragrances, colognes, lotions, and toner
Items with "eliquids" such as electronic cigarettes and lighters

If you don't receive your item after waiting the additional week, please contact your seller. If your item was returned to the seller, you should receive a refund. If you have any problems please contact cutomer support (http://ocsnext.ebay.com.au/ocs/home?). Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Regards,
The eBay Team

I have been buying photography gear from China, usually takes 3 to 4 weeks.:D I would expect that as they usually say "Free Delivery" so of cause the cheapest way for them is surface mail.:D They are not large items, things like lens filters, Sandisk cards etc. The largest item was a camera tripod.

I have Paypal, too, so I could get my money back but the principle of the whole thing is I have ordered something and I expect delivery. 6 weeks for a couple of cup holders is about 3 weeks too much. The seller keeps telling me it is the fault of the HK Post Office but I really don't believe them any more.

It is only $12 or $13 so that doesn't worry me - it's the delay.

I ordered some coffee capsules from Italy and they were here in a week.

I ordered a Watt-Meter from the UK and it was here in a week.

I'm just getting a bit wary of sellers in HK and China.

Gee Tony, the bum of your series is sitting down:( Is there a lot of weight in the trailer? We noticed it at Glenreagh but figured it was all the camping gear.

Jason, we have the body of a round air box  should it be called air cylinder :D but not the end cap:( We will look, still we may find it. How hard would it be to make something up? Maybe get the bit from a wrecker?

Mrs hh:angel:

Hi Mrs H I don't think I will need it anymore sorry for the trouble. I moved everything out of the way yesterday to put the battery in BUT the bloody battery doesn't fit in there its huge so I will just have to put it in the rear of the car.. Thanks for taking the time to look for me though..Again sorry,,.

Land Rover Spare Wheel Cover | eBay (http://www.ebay.com/bhp/land-rover-spare-wheel-cover)

The link didn't work for me.. But why a spare wheel cover for a series 3 .. You'll be called a YUPPY if ya put it on .:p:p..

Becarefull with your springs . There are some crap sellers around here for springs ,Trust me I know as ive brought so many. Just go Parabolics there not much more dollars & worth every bit..SWB paras are all 2 leaf packs . Dungog motors stock them & there not far from you..I think under a grand will get you 4 springs & 4 pro comp shocks.. I think I have a heap of polly bushes here for series . Actualy I think I have a full set .Will have a look.. If you are going to park it up for a while you can stretch them a little by putting the rear on stands , take the rear shocks off & put a bottle jack between the diff & chassis & jack em up to stretch .. Its not the best but it will get you out of trouble.. Also Dumbrells at Wallsend charge more then the price of a new spring just to reset one .. I was going to do that but after buying the paras I still saved money..

I gave up buying from the US - too much effort - even my steering wheel cover took 6 weeks from the US.

Jason, what sort of plate are you getting for the spare?

My spare is mounted on the back door but when it is on there isn't enough clearance under the tyre to hitch the trailer on - and I can't shift the current plate any higher. I was looking at buying one of those swing-away mounts.

Spare Tire Relocator

https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2013/10/488.jpg
Britsh Parts of Utah offers a brand new product for relocating the spare tyre on the carrier on the rear of the Discovery I and II. The relocator works by slightly shifting the spare wheel up (by about 1 1/2") to clear the rear bumper, enabling the fitment of larger tyres.
The Kit comes with all the hardware you need for one of two install options. The first install would be a bolt-on method (no cutting required). The second install requires you to cut the factory wheel studs on the carrier (this is the recommended install). The product is machined from 1" 6061-T6 Aluminum plate and then black anodized for looks.

Mrs Aus and I attended a birthday party for an aunty of mine today. She just turned 90, which is not a bad innings.:D Caught up with a few cousins, one I hadn't seen since 1966!!!:o when we had a fairwell for him as he was serving in the army and leaving for duty in Vietnam.:D

Speaking of army, we are an ex-army family, there was my cousin who went to Vietnam who retired as a Major. Two ex-Sargent Majors, one being my uncle (the auntie's hubby) who fought the Japanese in New Guinea, another ex-Sargent Major couldn't make it as he was on business in Melbourne, and of cause little ol' me who is an ex- artillery Gun Sargent.:D

Naturally a lot of the talk amongst us was army, particularly on Bofors anti air craft guns which most of us served on at one stage or another.:D

Oh, nearly forgot the aunty had a good time too. She actually served in the Womens Land Army in the second world war.:D

Bloody fridge is big I had to fit it long ways in the back, but that's not to bad atleast the battery fits in behind it. & I can get 2 drawers next to it & I will make storage on each side where the panels go in . its going to be a lot of weight in the rear.. I'm making them out of 12mm MDF & when i'm finished them i'll cover them in marine carpet or the like..Fred signed her papers for her traineeship tonite .Had to go into the Newcastle Macas to sign up..Got all the lawn wiper snipped & mowed the back lawn will do the front tomorrow..

Well, the good bit is rapid delivery - it arrived today.

The not so good bit is the instructions and the bag of bits that come with it. None - and I mean NONE of it matches what is in the instructions and the instructions are for a different device - actually for a nice looking unit for a Defender...

I reckon I'll get it on with a bit of fettling but I am sure he could have done a better job of it.

I did think of that, briefly.

There is one of those strengthening panels in behind the galv and it doesn't have crush tubes so I would have flattened it.

I haven't tried to put the trailer on yet - have had other problems, including spending most of the morning in A&E so it won't get looked at until I have 2 working eyes again...

If the trailer doesn't fit then I'll take it up another inch or so...
