Well this is from when Tony was at my place the other day.. Pics not the best as im now using an old iphone since the new ones don't like being thrown around..

& this is what ive been building for the back of the disco..Dont look to hard there pretty rough.& im not happy with them , there heavy as I made them from 12mm MDF.& with the fridge & just them the back sits down & I still have to put the spare on & the second battery in there , the battery alone weighs 30ks..then the jack & just other stuff I think its going to sit real low..Mite have to swap the medium load springs for heavy load springs ..Hope not as I realy don't want to have to do that..
I don't like working with wood it never turns out out I want it , mind you I have a circular saw & I can cut circles with it that's how good I am with it.

I still have to make some small plates to go behind them to bolt them in. Also on the passenger side I am making a shelf to sit the second battery in there , it will be secured in there ..Plus another on the drivers side & the compressor will be mounted on that side..Still not happy with them though..

Same fridge as mine - just another name stamped on it.
Have you thought of making an angle-iron frame and bolting thinner wood on to it?
Moved the spare wheel on mine - again. Pic later.

These fridges draw a lot of currant it sent my last 100ah battery flat overnight . Though I think that the battery mite of had something to do with it as it was just about dead.. Will see how it goes on the new battery. Hopping it will be fine.. We're used to the weaco that's what we had before this one.. This one is a 55ltr ..

Yes we are going to put 2 new headlights in & some driving lights.Plus my aerials on with my radios..
Just cant spend any more yet till me get Karens health back on track.. I think its going to be a long haul for her..
I too have kidney cysts, but my urologist isn't worried about these, and say they are common. cannot comment on Karen's liver.

And to top all of that off I spent allday under the disco yesterday .. I put all the new brake pads in Then bled all the brakes YES correctly.. & when I started the car to try them out well there just as bad as before I did this.. The pedal is spongy as buggery & you need lots of pedal pressure to stop the car.. OH & the brake lights are still staying on.. I read on the forum about the lights so can fix that.. The Brakes are ****ing me off big time. I will replace the master cylinder Maybe tomorrow after Karen finishes work if we have enough money as we have to see the specialist on Tuesday.. The master cylinder was leaking out the 2 rubbers under the resivor so I replaced thos BUT I think its leaking elsewhere in the master cylinder.
I also read on here to check the flexable lines for swelling so will do that aswell. & replace if needed. other then that I have no idea..& i'm getting sick of being under this car already & just about had enough of working on it.. We just want a decant car that we can use for what we like , Up the bush & the rougher the better .. That why we got the rims & tyres the winch & everything else we bought so we could use it for & how we like to use them..I'm sure I will sort it eventualy I spose..
we had some disco brake problems. On our first disco we had rotors that were worn to under specifications. We replaced these with early range rover rotors from our wreck, which had to be drilled out bigger holes.
We also have a vacuum booster not working, hence high pedal pressure. just purchased an aftermarket one.
on our series 3 we had a total fail when the brake pipe burst-- rusted pipe. Was easy for a mechanic to fix. I watched him, as we did not have the tools.

Not to much need to sort the brakes on the disco. I think it needs a new booster . I drilled the holes in the roof rack legs to bolt the awning onto But cant hold it by myself so couldn't finish that job either.. Still have to find a spot for the second battery & put all that in.. But other then that not much.. Took Karen to the specialists today. $205 for a 10 minute visit just to tell us to go get more blood tests which he thinks will show nothing more then they have , So Karen will have to go & have a liver Biopsy . We go in 3 weeks for the bloods results but its only $105 then.. The Biopsy is at John Hunter hospital & only take about 4 minutes BUT Karen has to stay there for 4 hours laying down after it.. So needless to say I wont be going to that one with her.. SICK PEOPLE GOTO HOSPITAL..
and healthy people getting horrible tests like colonoscopy. Hate them.
I spent 4 weeks as a volunteer guide at a local archaeology exhibition, Tutankhamen's tomb and death mask, dead sea scrolls, etc., so am behind on this thread. But will catch up.

Jase, apparently RRC seats fit with a little modification to the rails, and are more comfortable than the Disco ones. Worth finding one and having a sit in?
we have been thinking of putting RRC seats into our disco. But the disco seats are not too bad.

Ok so I need some help, your help may or may not make my decision but I am really confused and a few friends on facebook are saying different things to me.
I am not saying everything I did was right, but when feelings get involved sometimes decision making is hard.
Ok so as you know cornelia and I broke up in march and most of you know the circumstances in which things happened.
We had a joint account and I worked it out that in that joint account she had $5000.
Originally she said she didn’t want any because she didn’t deserve it or something after what she put me through.(not really an important point).
I gave her $2000 of the $5000. Those of you who not so great at maths that means I owe her $3000.
My flights cost $2500 and she said she wanted to pay for them after I gave her some money.
I think she should have, because I missed out on uni and was a wreck for a long time where she wasn’t.
That leaves $500 which I was going to use to send her things back to her.
She wants me to send everything of hers back.
I am ok with sending her things back to her. To send everything back to her will cost $1500. I would sooner fly over there and drop off her things to her and pick up a few things of mine and have a holiday.
We barely speak now probably for the last 3 months it has been just when are you sending things etc. Well she has called me many names etc.
One of my friends thinks I should just send all her stuff so she is out of my life etc.
Another thinks try and discussing things with her about how much it will cost
She is supposed to be going to Tasmania for exchange in February so I have suggested sending things to her down there. Most of the things she will just throw out anyway. A lot of clothes and books she has read and won’t read again and was only cheap anyway. And old clothe she rarely wore the whole time we were together.
I probably have left out a few details. But I am really confused about what to do and any opinions would be appreciated even if they are saying I am an idiot do this.

Well I had a MASIVE MASIVE Panic attack lastnight.. I don't know why , I was sitting on the lounge & had enough time to get up & make it to the bathroom where I just about passed out.. I was in cold sweats to the point I was wringing wet inside 5 minutes..Had to get Karen to get me a bucket to sit on & get my head between my legs & deep breathing , had water & a wet face washer to cool me down .. Once I got sitting down in there & breathing it passed , But it was big & I haven't had one like that in I don't know how long. BUT I held it together & calmed myself down reasonably quickly for once .. Once it was over we went to bed which is a first usualy I need to sit around for hours BUT it passed & I was OK for the first time so we had showers & went to bed .. I guess with me talking on here with all you guys has helped & use have all helped me to the point I had it , it passed & I got on with things for the very first time ever.. Other then Karen getting my water & something to sit on I delt with it myself I think & I think I did alright..I didn't like it at all but I beat it & forced it to go I guess as it lasted short & I just got on with it after.. BUT im glad there was no one here to see it as it is emmbaracing I can tell you .. Makes me feel like some small child who is extremely frightened shaking & looking like im ready to pass out .. I realy cant explain how it feels or what it does .I did feel quiet sick with this one though & dizzy thought I was going to crap myself for a bit :( & breathing is very hard to control but I must of got it under control as it passed & you get like a pins & needles feeling through your whole body & every time you move it gets worse & movement feels very hard to do , I think it lasted maybe 10 to 15 minutes at most all up. NOT HOURS & I didn't feel like I was hiding in the bathroom after it..
Well there you go .
Now for a shower & I think mite just clean the green one up ready to sell or swap.. Actualy Karen said to me yesterday that she was surprised I had'ny swaped it already ..

Tony, I don't know the exact circumstances of the split (and don't need to know), but I agree with the principle of sending everything to her, rather than flying over. That way you can close that chapter of your life, no more reminders lying around, just move on with life.
I'm sorry if that sounds harsh, but she sounds like she has very much moved on, and you need to do the same. Holding a candle for her, and wondering about the ifs, buts, and might have beens will do you no good.

That must be quite scary. It is good that you got this one under control quickly and got on with your night :)
Yeah I still feel crapy today after it..
Been under a bit of stress lately Karen has booked in for her biopsy at the hospital but cant get in for 6 weeks.. & she is still dropping weight alarmingly..
Cody had his formal on Thursday night & one of his mates mums boyfriend is the sargent of arms for the Life & death MC so he organized for them to go on bikes BUt the after party was back at the club house & they stayed there the night. They where drinking BUT not Cody he doesn't drink he is a fitness freak .. I wasn't to happy about it but turned out ok.. I just haven't associated with bikies for years so was jusy worried about him as I know how things can go..
I also thought Karen was getting a little excited about them & being around them.. BUT SOMEONE TOLD ME NO ITS PROBABLY MORE SO THE FACT THAT HER BABY BOY IS GROWING UP.. So was just my head as usual,,. Anyway things went well for them & cody loved going in on the bike as it was his first time on the back of a Harley.. He has been on bikes with me but not a Harley & he loved it.. I will see about getting permission about putting some pics up here for use to look at.. He was looking quiet smartly in his suit ..I have to sell or swap the green car as its just sitting here doing nothing or getting used. I will swap it for anything of interest or sell it.
Dave answered your question perfectly . That's pretty much what I ment but didn't know how to put it in words..

Hello everybody, I just got back from Temora to see the "Warbirds Downunder" air show. What a great day, was well worth the trip and I took something like 350 photo's which I will post some up here later.:D:D
Looks like things have been happening here, Tony I don't know what advice I can give you but I would be getting rid of all things that bring back bad memories as soon as possible. Jason, that's good you recovered from your attack quicker than normal. Maybe we friends on the Forum have been helpful to you.:D
See ya guys, I have photo's to upload from my camera.:D

Well guys, here is a small example of the hundreds of photo's I took at the airshow.:D The difficulty is picking a small example to show.:D
A couple of shots of some of the aerobatics, there were numerous aerobatics done by various planes during the day.:D

a Constellation airliner called Connie, coming in to land.

The plane with the best sounding motor was the Australian made Boomerang fighter, I just loved the sound of the Radial engine and the whistle of the supercharger.
https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2014/07/520.jpg (http://s756.photobucket.com/user/Ausfree/media/TemoraAirshow2-11-13159_zps2731a894.jpg.html)
A Mustang fighter, the Rolls Royce Merlin engine that powered this and the Spitfire also had a nice sound.
https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2013/11/1173.jpg (http://s756.photobucket.com/user/Ausfree/media/TemoraAirshow2-11-13254_zpsd527ab57.jpg.html)
No airshow would be complete without the Spitfire.

This plane is owned by David Lowy of Westfield fame and here is a picture of him jumping from the Spitfire after giving us a flying demonstration.I note the flowing hair as he jumped down.

This one was really impressive, boy could it go. It is a Cessna A-37 Dragonfly, which is a light ground attack aircraft that was used mainly in the Vietnam war. I was not aware that Cessna made jet fighters.

There was even a Bofor anti aircraft gun on display, being an old birdshooter I had to get a couple of piccies. They had the guts of the gun stripped out and filled the space with electronics to simulate the noise of a Bofor firing. From my memory of Bofors, it was not loud enough.:D

Well, I have looked up the HARS group (Historical Aircraft Restoration Society) , they are the group that own the Catalina, Connie the Constellation and the Caribou that was on show at "Warbirds Downunder".:D
I didn't realise they are so big they have quite a few aircraft, both flying, under restoration and static display on their books.:o
They are based at Albion Park Rail down past Wollongong, so I think my next project in six to twelve months time is for Mrs Aus and myself to go and have a look.:D I notice on their site, they are closed to the public at the moment because of some extensions to their hangar.:D

When we returned to the motel at Young we saw this 1925 Studebaker parked there. We introduced ourselves to the owner who said he was at the air show also.
The car originally belonged to Kate Leigh from the razor gang mobs in Sydney around the 1930's. It also appeared on the "Underbelly" series a couple of years ago. We were very interested as the owner told us the history of the vehicle.:D Note Mrs Aus giving it the "professional" lookover!!!

Been grinding up the old tiles in the house. Bloody hell there is cement dust everywhere, gets into every nook and cranny. I'm using a Rotary Hammer Drill to lift the old tiles and remove most of the grouting.
There is still lumps and bumps everywhere which have to be removed so I went to Bunnings this morning and bought an angle grinder with a special diamond rotary head to smooth and grind the concrete floor so we can relay over the floor. The diamond head cost nearly as much as the grinder.
We have bought the Allure brand of floating floor from Harvey Norman. It clicks in together and the colour we bought is Travertime Ivory and it looks like floor tiles.
The area is 42 square metres, so it is a large area. Mrs Aus rang Harvey Norman today chasing up the order and they told her it will be delivered in the next couple of days. Doesn't really matter as it is a slow job lifting the old tiles and regrinding the floor.:D:D
I want to go back to work to get a rest!!!:whistling:

Hey Jase, what's the latest with Karens health. Mrs Aus has been asking and I am interested too!!!!:D:D
Nothing as yet . Has to have the liver biopsy but cant get in till the 13th of December. So more waiting.. Karen is still loosing weight alarmingly & now fits into freds clothes..
I also had a visitor today . Young Tony called into to show me his new car.. Its a beauty .. He said he'd put pics up later..
I got a LITTLE NERVIOUS while he was here just a little flutter.. Karen says its that time of year & I don't deal with it very well.. I thought I was doing well but obviously not.. this time of year is my birthday & Christmas & has always been a realy hard time for me ..
I was sposed to goto doctors to get a script wen Tony left But when I came in Karen said its to late go tomorrow or on the weekend..
There is noway I could tell anyone of you guys im nervious while use where here its embaracing & just not right to do that..
Maybe i'll get better with this time of year . its always been hard cause of oldman but this is the first since he died so I guess it will get easier each year cause I don't have to think or worry what he will say or do because I don't or didn't go to his house..
I was worried Tony was going to pickup on my nerves cause I felt I was shaking & stuttering & had to get a drink cause my mouth & throat was so dry..How pathetic is it when that's all you think of for some of someones visit.I usualy get nervous to some degree with all visitors cept jim realy .& I think Jim & Mrs Aus are the only people I can sit inside with on a visit.. I don't do that cause I worry if I went into a panic who ever is here will see & hear it so I don't do that cept with Jim & Mrs Aus..
I may have sold the grenn landy.. Will let use know more when we do.. Could be going to QLD..

All good. Back to the photos for a minute. Jim, David also owns and flies that Dragonfly. He works it the hardest so, if you see a really great show with it, David is usually at the controls. When he gets out at the end he is covered in sweat.
The Land Rover is owned by a mate of mine. He is known to a couple of people here on the forum. That's him in the driver seat. It is a 1950 model and is usually used on his property in Temora for weed spraying. Here at his house in Canberra he has a pristine 1948 Landy - in showroom condition.

Yes, Darren is one of their well known guest pilots. I was a regular visitor at the shows for several years - and was there when the Sabre took to the air for the first time. The museum owns 2 Dragonflys - the one with the polka-dot tanks is the one David usually pilots.

Yes, Darren is one of their well known guest pilots. I was a regular visitor at the shows for several years - and was there when the Sabre took to the air for the first time. The museum owns 2 Dragonflys - the one with the polka-dot tanks is the one David usually pilots.
Temora Aviation Museum :: Aircraft Collection :: Temora Aviation Museum Aviation (http://www.aviationmuseum.com.au/aircraft_colection/index.html)
That answers the mystery, the Dragonfly I saw did not have the polka dot tanks!!!:D:D I would love to fly the old planes, but unfortunately the finances involved makes it waaaayyyy out of my league. So, I will have to be satisfied with looking at them and taking piccies.

Well I am about half way through digging up the old tiles when the chisel bit in the orbital hammer drill snapped off. went back to Bunnings but it is not covered under warranty as it is a consumable.....bugga.:(
So, I bought a new one (chisel bit that is), this one is twice as wide as the old one (40mm versus 20mm), so I will see how I go tomorrow. couldn't be bothered starting up again today (too hot, anyway) so I called into the local on the way home and had a bit of liquid refreshment to wash the cement dust out of my mouth. I will start up again tomorrow.:D
Had my second visit to the dentist earlier this morning, having some root canal work done, not cheap either!!!:o two more visits to go, all this to save one tooth as I don't want dentures, even though I'm an old bugga.:D
Harvey Norman (Hardly Normal) rang, the flooring has arrive and will be delivered next Tuesday.:D So that's it from me, as you can see I have been a busy little black duck.

The wider bit should be easier as long as it isnt too much resistance on it.
I think root canal for me a few years ago was $1500 I opted to get rid of the thing only because they said it would probably come back again and need doing in a few years. Now the neighbouring tooth isnt very good either.
Oh jim how is the swear jar going, getting a bit more full ?

If it's misspelt, it's not swearing, Tony!!!!:p Yeah, I see your point about resistance on a wider bit, I think the original one snapped because I was applying too much pressure. Anyrate we will see how it goes, if it doesn't pan out, I will go back and buy the 20mm one.

Well, I'm still make slow progress with ripping up the old tiles. they are a mongrel of a thing to remove, they are slate and they shatter when you try to remove them, eye protection is a must as I have been hit on the goggles several times with shards of slate.
This is the floor tiles I am removing, whoever laid them did a shocking job as the are very uneven, you can even stub your toe on the edge of a tile if you are not careful, that's how bad they are.

A partially removed area, you can see by the scow marks left by the hammer drill, the tiles do not come up in one piece.

It was better Tony.:D Mrs Aus bumped into a friend of ours who has done a few tile removals and he said I could easily go wider, it would make the job faster and easier.:D
So, off to Bunnings tomorrow to see what they have in their range, probably get something in the range of 80mm. I wouldn't like to go any bigger than that.:D
I am a bit over halfway and I just want to get it finished, then I can angle grind the floor to make it level for the new flooring material.:D

Well, the day just ended on a sad note, Bindi our youngest daughters dog that we have a permanent loan of, has died.:(
She was off her food from yesterday and she was laying on the lawn at about 6 o'clock and she was breathing very heavily, Mrs Aus said we had better take her to the vet tomorrow.:(
Mrs Aus, was patting her then when she walked inside Bindi followed her in, lay down on the floor and ten minutes later she was dead.:(
Bindi is 10 years old, so I guess that is a normal dogs lifespan. We have had dogs live as long as 14 years.
Mishi, our own dog, won't know what to do with herself now as she always follows Bindi around.:(

Oh, when I said 90% done I meant the jackhammering part, still have to angle grind the floor for a level finish. Daughter did about 20% of the floor area yesterday. Also have to fill a few holes where I have been a bit keen with the rotary hammer drill.;) We'll get there though.:D Be glad when it's finished as there is cement dust everywhere.

well have been selling a few things on facebook, and a while ago i was helping a guy on a farm with old cars. For payment I got given a few things and on e was this bee hive smoker. I had no use for it so i sold it online and the owner of the property had his wife facebook me and buy but he came over and picked it up and paid me the money and then a few minutes later said this was stolen from my property i am reporting you to the police, why he gave me the money is beyond me. Anyway after my cost out there with fuel etc my care factor is zero.
It is currently flooding here and at my dads place he has had 5-6 inches of rain in the last 24 hrs, which was really needed, However that does mean we will probably be doing fencing

Get up some photo's when I get a chance, but I know looking at someone's floor is not that high on people's excitement factor.:)
Caught up on what has been happening in "Embarrassment Land", good to see that you have sold the "Green Machine", Banjo.:D
The back area has been done, which is probably 50% of the total area, so tomorrow we move in to the kitchen and start down the hallway to the front door. A lot more cutting in involved so that will slow us down.

G'day Landy Smurf,
It is called watching the market to establish the highs and lows of what realistic market prices are. So when an opportunity comes along in real life you know whether to swoop and pounce or to simply walk away.
It can also form a reference library when one comes across the rare sellers who think their stuff is rare so they can offer rare high prices. However, this approach rarely works on their ilk! Go figure.
Kind Regards

My dilemma is I have 4 assignments due in the next 4 weeks.
On the other hand if I really pulled my finger out I could do them and would earn at least 2k after expenses plus there is the opportunity of work after those 3 weeks if they are happy with my work.

I still have to put the second battery in & wire it all up.. The winch needs to be wired up , the wires are all in just need to hook up to battery for winch.. I don't like all the weight in the back so dunno what i'll do about that.. I need to save to buy a new better swag a dome type. Have found one on ebay we like its onlu $180 with free postage..
I took the car out on Friday for a few hours to pickup a new washing machine & went to supercrap & autobarn.. Car goes ok BUT the backlash in the diffs & axles is way past a joke so need to rebuild both diffs now.. Id say its had a hard life..
I used the incar camera while we where out & I will load it to utube & put a link up its just everytime I try loading the 2 vids it says its going to take at least 2.5 hours to load so end up cancelling it..

Well not only did I not end up getting that job or doing that job which would have helped towards uni, one of our dogs died yesterday he was only about 4-5 months old and got a tick or 2.
My dad finds out if he loses his job on friday and his car got a little damaged and flooded as the creek crossing got eroded about 70cms deeper then what it was and created a big hole on the right hand side.
so if he loses his job he wont be able to assist me through college so i dont know what i will do , am thinking I may have to just sell up all y land rovers except the s3 and sell the defender and just get a cheap run around car.

That was my thinking.
I have been comparing it to the 2 hiluxs I have owned and this is what I have come up with.
the dual cab was the best on fuel then the defender then the single cab
the best ride was probably very close between the defender and dual cab, the single cab was terrible as it had no weight in the back and probably stiffer springs and the seats were not as comfy as it was bench seat.
the hiluxs were a lot easier to drive and quiet a bit of power.
the defender is cooler and fun to drive and it goes more places.
The hiluxs never let me down and only ever had to do oil change where as I feel the defender will have some more to do , it already needs some seals looking at and steering dampener. The lights on the rear and driving lights and I was expecting there to be less rust and dints in it due to how he described it, not due to age.
If I had the option right now to have either of the hilux for 7k which is what i sold them for or the defender, I would probably go with the dual cab hilux as it was cheaper and easier and would prove to be more reliable. If I had more money at the moment I would definitely have the defender. I would not go back to a single cab ute unless it came at a good price and had better seats in it , which I could have changed anyway

Well I said I didn't like all the weight in the back of the disco with those drawers in there. So I took the drawers off altogether now. & I made a platform for the battery to sit on as it wont fit into the side cause of the shape..So just a little more work then I will bolt them in. This way I will have room to stack stuff between them like the table , chairs , BBQ plate & grill ,My portable gas cooker . the kids got me a 2 burner one for fathers day the ones that take the cartridges.

We recently went away camping for the week, the first day it poured down with rain :(
We then got invaded by 26 parrots at 5am and had a cheeky kangaroo sneak into the camp kitchen and steal a loaf of bread :D Did abut a hundred kilometers of beach driving which was fun, only caught one fish though.

Oh dear, never pleasant when you lose your job.:( Has happened to me a couple of times, but I have always managed to get another job within six weeks or so.:)
What does your dad do, does he work in the mines or something??
Landy Smurf

He was a HV electrician in the mines. He now will need to do his licence cert. as he never needed it in the mines, but will now if he wants to apply for another job.Not that there is ever really good timing for these things but considering he has just bought part of the family farm which needs lots of money spent on it and considering the week he has had with his ute getting flooded the dog dying and now this. I just hope he gets a good enough payout and can find a job fairly quickly. Even if he does and can support me through uni I have still decided to sell the land rovers because I just will not have the time or money to spend on them for at least 5 years and that is too long for them to sit. 2013 was suppose to be the worry free year, turns out it is definitely not my year at all

Yeah my grandparents used to live at the end of garth st & a couple of years ago Karen & I took the kids out there for a drive & around a few of the streets & to show them the old salty race track. We left quiet quick as there where cpos everywhere & Ambos.& everyone screaming in the street . Have'nt been back there since.. My grandparents lived right opposite the **** depote & on the other corner from them they had knocked down quiet a few of the houses & built apartment block there with lots of appartments & they where filthy & didn't look very old at all..

Love the sound of the supercharger on the Mustang, on the Australian made Boomerang fighter it sounded even better.

No I haven't put the motor in yet but it's ready and waiting. Since I've overhauled the gearbox it's made the holden motor seem really smooth and quiet, so I'm just enjoying it at the moment :)
