Ausfree,...Brilliant video.
Mustang & Conny would make my day.
Pickles.

Thanks Pickles, it was a day we thoroughly enjoyed. Would recommend it to any one interested in planes.:D My interest is in the old piston engined ones.:D Love the sound of the Rolls Royce Merlin in the Mustangs and Spitfires.:D But I absolutely looovvveed the sound of the supercharged radial engine in the Aussie Boomerang fighter.

You can hear a little bit of it 35 seconds into this clip.(turn the volume up). Still not a patch on hearing it in real life though.:D

had a guy wanting to buy both my series ones and defender. he said he was in wa.
he sent me the money for them plus 4.5k for shipping through western union but i had to pay the shipping to some mob who had their head office in china before i got the total amount. I simply told the guy well i dont have 4.5k on me to pay the shipping, not that I would anyway, just in case it was a scam of some sort.

Yeah its a scam , anything with western union is a scam. Be a smart ass & tell him you paid for the freight so where do I take the cars to or when will the company be here to collect.

Yep, as Jason said, it is a scam Tony. I have read articles on scams many times and they all mention that scammers use Western Union.

If he is genuine ask him to do a direct deposit into your account. Anyway, why would somebody want to pay that sort of money on something sight unseen.

Definitely a scam. I would ignore it.:)

I put one of those fuse boxes in the Stage 1 for the second battery. I then ran wires from it to anderson plugs at the front and back of the vehicle so I can plug my solar panel in from either end of the car. I can also use the rear anderson plug to provide power to the camper so it charges the battery in the camper, too.

It doesn't take long to use up all of those connectors on the 8-way fuse box.

Driving my bus last night, (about 6pm) I stopped at the layover spot at Fletcher, which is reasonably isolated with bush surrounding it, there are houses about 200 metres away.:)
I hopped out of the bus and spotted this cardboard box, laying on its side, it was about 1 metre square and looked like it hadn't been there long. At first I took no notice and as I had ten minutes before I did the return trip to the University, I decided to have a look inside it.:)

Could you imagine my surprise when I looked in and peering back at me was a live CHOOK, fully grown and orange in colour, it gave a little braaack, braaack.:o:o:o

I thought, what am I going to do, I can't leave the poor thing to die and I can't take it with me on the bus. So I rang Mrs Aus. and asked her to come and get it, we live only ten minutes away.:)

I had to leave, but she managed to find it and took it home, and gave it something to eat and a drink of water, she said it just drank and drank.

My eldest daughter, who lives at Belmont keeps chooks (the ornamental type) and she also looks after stray injured and sick birds for a local wilderness society,so Mrs Aus took it over there. The daughter had a spare cage, so she put the chook in there to keep an eye on it to make sure it is OK. She also wanted to isolate it from her own chooks for a while in case of disease.:)

The bottom of the box was taped up with blue "Duc" tape and had Kennard written all over it, so the only thing we can think of, that somebody was moving house and the poor chook, has fallen off a ute or something.

Lucky it was where it was because if had of fallen anywhere else, nobody would have looked.:)

Chook Update

Mrs Aus rang the daughter yesterday to check on the chook. It appears it may have been injured in the fall. It won't walk so there may be problems with it's legs and one of its wings is not right.

The daughter knows a lot about chooks and she says they heal quickly, if it's not a major injury. If its not right in a couple of days she will take it to a Vet. she sees the vet regularly through her work in looking after sick and injured birds.:D

Na not yet.. I have finished all the wirring now so everything is hooked up.. Need to fix some holes & a couple of leaks ..Need the tail pipe welded on. & need a realy good tune up. I cant do the tune up to computerised for me. But I will but all new plugs & leads & change all the filters & fluids that way it can just go round & be tuned up..

We cant get into see the specialist till the 14th of Jan , Karen is still sore from the biopsy & I don't want to bounce her around up the bush to much..

We where going to go stay up at Samurai beach for a night , But have found out they have a huge new years eve party up there , they even set up a bar and all.. The beach is only a kilometre long so will wait a little before we head up there..

sorry to hear that john also glad to hear you are ok because that is the main thing at the end of the day.

we spent hours lat night putting the roof rack back on, as I picked up two surf skis today--n I am selling some surf skis. That is it is now driveable again even if the body is bent and looks very rough, the chassis is NOT bent--I drove it 75 odd Km today. Hand-brake no longer works though, have to fix that, tomorrow if its not raining, after taking some RR brake calipers off-- we are doing up a RR which will be converted to Isuzu diesel as a replacement for the disco.

Hey Guys,
Just saw this on U-Tube, gives you a small idea of our day at the "Warbirds Downunder" day at Temora recently.:D:D

Temora air show 2013, Warbirds downunder - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IobUopjyyvw)

Love the sound of the supercharger on the Mustang, on the Australian made Boomerang fighter it sounded even better.

Though I would like to get to Temora it has never happened. However my name is down to help the RFS Northern Rivers Support Brigade set up a display of Water Bombing at the Even's Head Fly in on the 10-12 of January [I help set up on Friday the 10th and I am helping out as a volunteer on Sunday the 12th.] Not sure if we actually will have a water bomber flying though. This will be a first for me. Taking a Sleeping bag and finding somewhere to camp.

My cousin from Melbourne spent a couple of hours here. The disco is a 2007 model with a diesel motor. Only done 147,000k's. He hasn't used it much lately. Before this one he owned a Disco 1. He is not on AULRO, he is more a loner type LandRover enthusiast. I mentioned AULRO but he wasn't interested.
I guess there are a lot of Landy enthusiasts that are loners out there. Just like to enjoy their interest on their own.:D

p.s. He is a member of a four wheel drive club in Melbourne. On a previous visit he showed me photo's of him desert bashing, complete with sand flag and amongst a whole lot of Toyos and Nissos.

It was quiet quiet on the roads But gees there was a lot of young people in the Macas car park just sitting around & one doing burnouts behind us as we drove in.. Apperntly a lot of the macas car parks are getting like that around here seems to be the new hangout spots.I noticed there was no security on when we picked up Fred this morning which is strange as Fred said there usualy is a guard on the door , But she said they mite finish earlier as this is the first late late shift she has had to do..But they where all P platers & Younger kids .. Ok so I haven't touched a banjo for going onto 4 years so very rusty & have to get used to the shorter scale so there's less gap between the frets & the bridge is a little higher then on my last banjo.. This one feels really good & comfortable.. There's no shirt as its still way to hot in here as Karen cooked me a roast lamb for my birthday.. So here use go something to give use a laugh since its Christmas..

If you are a casual, yes, it is definitely worth it. Not so much for a permanent and I use this example. Say you work as a permanent on a public holiday at double time, sounds good but in fact you are already being paid for the day so you are in fact working for a single rate. I'd rather have the day off.

Casual rate is normally higher than permanent rate and you are not paid for the public holiday so at double time you are laughing!!!:D I might add, I volunteer for Sunday shifts at double time, because as a permanent I am not paid for Sundays, anyway, or Saturdays at time and three quarter.

Well I was holding off with these photos but for the sake of this thread I will put some up. I hope Gus doesnt mind.
For of those who have not met or seen Gus's thread or blog, he is an american guy driving around Australia in a series one 107".
It must have been early December he came to our place.
We decided to go for a drive around the property with dad riding shotgun with Gus , so he could tell him about the place etc and also I thought it would be nice for dad to have a ride in his series one. I got gate and photo duty on the motorbike.

This is an old house/hut and old shed. the house/hut was built in 1876(I think) obviously over the years it has had repairs etc. I dont know much about the shed.
The grass there use to be plowed up and there were chook pens and milking/stable areas.

Where are there parents & why are they out so late ..

I think Karen & I mite doze off sometime through the day . Getting to old to stay up that late..

You do need to pick up Fred. Some decades ago some girls waiting for buses late at night in your Newcastle area were murdered. Ivan Milat was questioned over this, but never charged. I have read everything on Ivan Milat as he once raped a girl, Wendy, a girl I once wanted to marry.

I discussed this with pappa. Unfortunately it is just the wrong time for me to take this on. If we had sheds and I had a bit more money with less projects than I would definitely do it.
I had good plans for it to :(

I can confirm that the rolling chassis that goes with this vehicle was stripped to bare metal, primed and painted ;) it's a good one.

I know, I want it so bad. Unfortunately it is just going to cost me to much money that I need for uni......damn uni

If I was going to get it, I would have galvanised the chassis and firewall and painted it camel trophy yellow and made it to look like one

Did they give any reasoning for the shortened hours?
Would it be because it is holidays and more younger people can work ore often?

I have only flown twice in my life, once when I was two years old--cannot remember that one, but my Late parents told me, and once in the 1970s from Canberra to Sydney, a short flight in a big jet. I always wanted to go up in a small plane. Last weekend, on the Friday and Sunday I was a volunteer with the Rural Fire Service at the "Even's Head Fly in." Met one gentleman who when I told him this said he would take me up in his ultralite Foxbat tomorrow. I was excited, but told him that I could not go up till Sunday as I keep the Sabbath. But later I reluctantly decided against accepting his offer, because everytime I saw him he was pouring himself a Gin and Tonic, so did not get my flight So sad for him

JohnF
16th January 2014, 04:49 PM
I thought it would be dangerous to fly with him. At first I felt sorry for him after he complained that none of his four children or nine grandchildren would fly with him. But after seeing him pouring so many Gin and Tonics I finally understood why they will not fly with him. I think that is so sad.

Oh boy, what a day I have just had!!!!:( The "Gastric Monster" came back and bit me with a vengeance. Up all night, spent most of it on the toilet.:(

Rang the boss at 4.15am this morning to tell him I can't drive today, I was due to start at 5.40am. He was just getting out of bed. He starts at 5.am at the Depot.

Felt as week as a kitten and drained of all energy, so Mrs Aus took me to Belmont Hospital Emergency. They put me in a segregated area, asked me a heap of questions, had to strip down to my undies and they put one of those "bum flasher" gowns on me. They stuck a cannula in my wrist and started pumping saline salution into me, finished up giving me two bottles of the stuff.:o

Also gave me something to ease the pain in my stomach, which was unbearable last night. I started to feel a bit better after two hours and because of my bowel cancer history they really went over me. Took blood samples, had to pee in a bottle, had to poo in another one but couldn't do it as it all came out last night and went down the toilet.

They said I was a "high risk" patient because of the bowel cancer, so they also gave me an X-Ray and did an ECG. Everything came back clear (phew)!! Oh, and I also had the gloved finger up the bum, which hurt like hell.

Started to feel hungry around 1pm so they gave me a couple of sandwidges, which I ate, this was a good sign as I was not hungry all morning and had nothing to eat since yesterday at teatime.

Back home now and hoping to have a good nights sleep tonight.:)

I didn't watch it but James Faulkner certainly dragged the Aussies out of the poo [wink11] if you know what I mean. the Poms can't take a trick. Don't feel sorry for them though.

The poms even had some luck go their way.
They should have played their one day side in the ashes maybe they would have gone better.

Yeah Tony, Random Task is a rip off of a villian in an early James Bond movie who threw his bowler hat that had a steel edge that could severley injure somebody and I can't think of his name off hand. But Random Task threw his shoe not his hat and I can't remember which Austin Powers movie he was in.:)
