Health authorities have warned of an alarming spike in gonorrhoea cases in the NSW port city of Newcastle.
More than 40 people have been newly diagnosed with the sexually transmitted infection (STI) so far this year, more than four times the rate seen over the same period in 2009.
The infection, which can lead to infertility, has been increasingly seen in young men and women in their teens and 20s, said Dr Treeny Ooi.
"Men who have sex with men have been identified as a group particularly at risk, however heterosexual people have also been infected," said Dr Ooi, who is director of sexual health at Hunter New England Health.
"Gonorrhoea often causes no symptoms and people may not be aware that they are infected.
"... Too many people are unwittingly infecting their partners and the only way to ensure that you do not have an STI such as gonorrhoea is to have a sexual health check at your doctor."
Newcastle-based sexual health services have recorded 41 cases of the infection so far in 2010 compared to nine for the same period in 2009, 29 cases in 2008 and 13 cases in 2007.
The symptoms of gonorrhoea - when present - include discharge from the penis or vagina and pain when passing urine or during bowel motions.
"Untreated gonorrhoea can cause serious and permanent health problems in men and women," Dr Ooi said.
"It can cause painful infection in the testicles or fallopian tubes that connect the womb to the ovaries and may result in infertility."
The test for gonorrhoea is a simple process, Dr Ooi says, and it can be arranged by seeing a GP or at a sexual health clinic.
Dr Ooi said using a condom during sex offered good protection against the infection, and people who were sexually active should have routine tests for STIs.
"There is a high awareness about the benefits of condom use but it can be a very different story when it comes time to put that knowledge into practice," she said.

I don't think they need anymore clappies at the Castle, Paul. :o;)

This item said "The symptoms of gonorrhoea - when present - include discharge from the penis or vagina and pain when passing urine or during bowel motions.". When I first started to working a pathology lab we had a throat swab come in from a 14 year old girl with a sore throat. When the microbiologist looked at the specimen he realised she had gonorrhoea in her throat. So the above listed symptoms are not the only possible symptoms of this Sexually Transmitted Disease.

I run my own little print shop for a couple of years, we had a small folder that would either fold a4 to 3 or just double it. Didnt take long to fold a 1000 flyers for a customer

Yeah, I don't know how he can do it with the Landy, the Yoyocrappa and a trailer, every time I have had to move I hired a truck with a lift on the back and a few mates to help!!:)

When we last moved we hired '2 men and a truck' for all the heavy stuff and then towed a furniture trailer behind the 4Runner 3 or 4 times for all the small stuff.

There is only the 2 of us - I couldn't believe we had so much stuff.

Fatty & Banjo - you'll be tired as all hell about now. I hope it all went well and you both didn't get too stressed.

Hey guys, just back from visiting Banjo and Fatty, they are almost there, have to hand the keys to the old place in this arvo, I have passed on everyone's good wishes. Banjo is suffering withdrawal symptons from being not able to get on the site. Hope to have the phone on in the new place this arvo. He said he would try and get back on the internet as soon as the phone is connected. Trailor disconnected from the Landy and punched a hole in the muffler because the place they hired the trailor from did not properly check the towball. Fatty stood on her digs and they are going to repair the muffler. Any way thats the latest from me!!!:D:D

Great to hear the move is nearly over for Banjo and Co. Moving is a pain. Mind you, I think we should move at least once a decade just so we get rid of all the carp and simplify our lives.
As for kids, well really, sometimes I wonder why we have them. Dogs are much better.
Still, despite the pains they gave us, our kids have turned out to be great (even the one who ran away and disappeared for 2 weeks), so it can work out in the long run. So, I shouldn't complain.
Hope the new house is a step up. All the best.

There are several threads with the same problem. It's because a fairly large number of posts have been deleted from them and that has affected the page indexing.

Edit: If you read downwards from here (http://www.aulro.com/afvb/general-chat/97120-temple-grockle-147.html#post1209662), you will find the answer.

Hey Banjo,

Finished my run of early shifts , couple of days off. Guy coming round on Wed to pick up the Series 1 - I reckon he got good deal , but I am happy. I am not rich enough to start a collection. Would love to get an 80" one day, or my other favourite is a 88" Series 2A...... Wont be for a while though. I've got the series 3 to play with :)

Remember a few weeks back when you showed me your models.....?

You got me all motivated and I have gone and bought a few to build. I used to be right into it 20 years ago - (planes ....of course:angel:) so when I build a few I'll post up some pics.

Yeah she's in pretty good nic. I've got a winch on my Def and I never use it. (S'pose I'm not extreme enough:angel:) - I don't think this trip will be all that difficult so don't expect to be doing any winching. I'll take that hand winch just in case. I've got an old engel that I may take, but to be honest a good esky and plenty of dried/canned food and I'll be fine - then I don't have to worry too much about flat batteries etc. Only really need a fridge to keep the beer cold - I'll just take scotch:angel: ;). Water - probably just take a couple of Jerry Cans - A water tank would be good but not too worried.
I like PTO winches but got the OD fitted so don't really have the option.

Haven't seen Kokoda yet.
Not big on Vietnam movies.
I don't know that one "Run silent run deep" I'll have to look out for it.

You mentioned Jack Higgins banjo, the Eagle Has Landed is one of my favourite war movies. Donald Sutherland, Michael Cain, Robert Duvall, Donald Pleasence - as Himmler and a small role with Larry Hagman as the war hungry Colonel Pitts. There is a great line in that movie that Donald Suttherland, as "Liam Devlin" says ," i realized fear one morning, when the blare of the fox-hunters sound. When they are all chasing after the poor bloody fox, it's safer to be dressed like a hound."

I also read the sequel to this "The Eagle has Flown" which would have made a great movie too.

Yeah Jack Higgins writes a good yarn.

"Run Silent, Run Deep" was a B&W movie made in 1958 and starred Clark Gable ( I believe it was the 2nd last one he made before he died) and Burt Lancaster, it was a submarine movie typical of the 1950's style movies, there was also another one in colour brought out in 1957 called "The Enemy Below" starring Robert Mitchum and Curt Jurgens and while we are talking about the 1950's a favourite of mine is a B&W movie called "Sink The Bismark".:D:D

I have got a couple of Land Rovers put away for when I get organised but these were all my speciality, WWII aircraft - A Shorts Sunderland, a Spitfire and a B-17 (you know like the "Memphis Belle") - they are all 1/72. I am yet to set up myself a little work area so they will all stay in the box for now.
I want to build each variant of the Spitfire - I think there were at least 15 - probably more!

the Spitfire is one beautiful aircraft, I remember one flying over years ago at Rutherford Aerodrome and the sound from that Rolls Royce Merlin engine is never to be forgotten, they had the engine on a static display and it is one large mother of an engine, I believe it powered certain variants of the Lancaster Bomber and certain variants of the Mustang Fighter, which was another beautiful aircraft, I would love to hear the sound of a Messerchmidt 109F flying over, never heard one!!!:)

Good Evvvvvening all,
Just settled down to a bit of aulro after work.
Jason - get your shed organised that will keep you busy. I got a mate who works for Bowens timber (not sure if you have them up there?) He is always bringing home wood that would be ideal for shelving in a shed. Ask them if they got some wood "out the back" amazing what he comes home with - trim it up a bit and Bob's your uncle.. (You know, water damaged, a bit split or warped )
When that is done there are a few good Land Rover models around. There is a 101 GS that is only a few bucks and the tamiya "pink panther" that is a good one too. Have a look on ebay - they usually sell for about 10 - 20 bucks.

Hi Banjo, with all this discussion here on planes, should not this thread be in the aviation section; ha, ha. :D:D:D

At Murwilumbah airport is a couple of guys wh have the plans, and make relpica Bi-planes--tiger moths, gypsymoths, etc., and sell these world wide.

A Tigermoth is a single engine biplane that was used as a trainer for the Air Force in the 1930's and early 40's. You occasionally hear them flying over doing about 120 k's an hour, so they are not very fast and they have a large following of enthusiasts who like to restore/rebuild and fly them, I believe Luskintye has the largest rebuild facilities in Australia for Tigermoths!!:)

Had a fone call from the realestate thismornin,I was thinking great they coming to fix the oven & give us a lid for the wheelie bin But no..The oven duzzer keeps going off at all hours sometimes we can get it off for an hour if we lucky ,so we just tern the power off at the meterbox after we finished cooking..But the call was about the old house had to go back & get some stuff from under the house, engine block,3 holden red heads,1 stiff bar that i use for towing,2 sets of extractors, heap of scrap metal, some timber, Not all was mine but the new owners wont finalise till it was all gone...I spend all mornin under the house YAY....OUT of all the stuff 1 head was mine & the scrap metal....But on a better note we got a check in the mail for $304.95..some years ago we had trouble paying a electric bill & centerlink got us on to this centerpay & our power bills come out of our pay each week (small amount) but it builds up & it pays the bill when it comes in..Well since we moved we now have a new account for the new place so its now coming out to pay the bills here. So after the final reading at the old house there was change after the bill was payed of $304.95 So now i have the money for my greenslip as we get rego free we where worried about getting the money for rego as fatty's crapota isn't going now so we have to use mine we where just going to use fatty's till our scholl tax money came in but now its all done ..

Also got the crapota off the front lawn & out the back,When i started it it was charging good but after it was runn for awhile it stoped charging ,But i think it could be in the wiring harness so i will be going over it this week but if i dont get sorted we are just going to put the plates on my car & deregister the crapota.Wouldn't mind keeping the rims & tyres off it for a trailer project a bit later on....

Oh dear i think this is going to hurt...Where to start
Well i have been on a pension for a few years now because i have AGROPHOBIA servere panic disorder.i have trouble going out to the point where i have locked myself in the bathroom in colds sweats with my heart in my throat thinking i would passout or pee or crap myself..i also have done this when i have had people coming over to visit or in this case (people offering to come & help )..it has ruined my life & my immediate family (wife & kids)..you know we used to go up to our local bush (hillsborough ) when we had a nissan SWB kids loved it but it sometimes could take me an hour to get there & we only live literaly 5 min drive from it..
its been realy hard for us because our families think its a big joke .they seem to think its funny to take the micky out of me ..but 27 years of abuse mentaly, physically, mentaly sexualy..
So i dont deal with people to well cause if i have to leave or (hide)as such they dont understand so we just dont do it but its now realy taking its toll on the wife & kids..
we had to file bankrupt a few years back now & the way this rover is going it could send us there again..wife (karen is realy worried )
i had a friend who i used to do stuff with because he didnt care that if we where going some where if i needed to turn round & head for home he didnt say anything i would just settle myself down & then turnround again & keep going & catch up to him & this could happen a few times before i got there & sometime i couldnt get there but he was ok with it so we got on real good but he went & died on me & i have taken it hard & since then i havent been able to do anything realy & we used to go bush alot just for the day out to sugarloaf & out the back of glendale & up hillsborough man i miss those days we all had fun me the kids & wife plus my friend..we used to work for ourselves i am a diesel mechanic by trade havent touched tools since i done my trade 20 years ago but we used to wash & grease trucks that kept us going was good money cause we used to do about 20 trucks a week..
Now the best i do is going down to the local shops again 5min drive away but i do go for a walk round aldi the cheap shops & the paper shop gotta get me rover mags..but this rarely happens .karen does all my running around picking up parts & the like..
i seem to get on better with woman the shrink says its because most of the abuse i suffered was from my father..
hence the reason we only see a few family members ..
we thought it bout time i told use as we have had offers of help with the car..
dont know how i would handle it..but if it wasnt for karen i know i would be dead she saved me..
the best thing so far is my kids..
& i have to say i have never found so many people to offer to help when they havent even met us ..thats cool.
i can only hope that when the car is sorted i can get some part of our life back & start going back to the bush...
So we would like to say many many thanks to everyone who has offered to help...
Not trying to be sobby just thought if use new the problem it mite make it easier to understand why i cant except the offers of help but i (we) really appreciate them i dont know how i would handle people here for the time it could take...
THANKS Jason & Karen..

Its been a real eye opener for me since this first post.I feel i have grown alot, learnt alot more about how to converse & to make chat instead of just droping in on conversations & just giving a quick line..Its been an awesome experience for me & a huge learning curve & extreme fun.I have met some realy nice people..& i couldn't of got this far without everyones surport & good will.. So i'm very glad fatty told me to tell the truth to let people know why i can not eccept the offers of help & people have been so understanding we never ever thought people would care or be interested in our crapy life.I haven't had a doosy of a panic attack for solong & the ones i have had have been very minor,Its just amazing how use all never ecpect of me which is a realy new thing for me as i have always had to run after family & so called friends which realy only see us when they need something fixed or some repairs to there cars..
I am so PROUD of my little fatty for putting up with my life for so long & going through some of the worst suicidle depression that i have had which hasn't reared its head for so long because i finaly has some true FRIENDS , well i hope so .I am proud of myself for the first ever time for doing something & outing myself here & being honest about everything is a good thing, realy enjoying myself..
So theres a little more into my ****y life....

Some 25 years ago when all my trouble started to show through i was realy realy bad i used to drink alot, then i met fatty & slowed a little till i gave up,we still drink but only say 5 to 10 max a YEAR, at this stage i was parenoid that the world was out to get me so i to brought a hand gun (now gone) & carried a knife & was always in fights & looking for fights,i have lots of battle scares. i was only a very small step from prison..Again Fatty to the rescue, that was probably a 5 year pireod. At this stage i was extremely **** scared to be alone & left at home on my own as the suicidle depression would set in & i would start fights with fatty, where you been who you been with, why you been with. Also couldnt go anywhere or have anyone over if some one was going to call in i would lock myself in the bathroom in a cold sweat thinking i was going to throwup or lose control over my body & **** or **** myself the whole time this is going on you have your heart in your throat to the point where people can see the pulsating in your neck big time. This is such a debilitating feeling i wouldn't wish it on anyone as you have no control over it at all & you never know what is going to happen,Thats what i call a doosy, now a minor attack is cold sweats & my heart in my throat & getting very dry to the point i have trouble breathing & if i'm talking to someone when this happens i don't say a word as i still get embarest & realy what are they going to do for me,This happens sometimes when i have had a visit from my younger sister & if she picks up on it she just loads the kids up & leaves politely she says she has to go & i don't say anything because how the hell do you say to someone you have to leave & you have to leave because i'm having a panic attack thats just way to embaressing for me to cope with usualy fatty will say something politely..
Now this has been going on for many years like a yoyo up & down ,forwards & backwards..So in saying all this is to explain what a baby step is .ONE step could take a week it could take a year.I think the ones that have taken a week are realy insernificant realy its just something i mite do at home. But to go out could take months to years..
I just thought it mite be best to tell use as i realy dont want to disapoint any of use cause it could be years before i could do anything with some of use ,It Mite not be you never know but i feel a little better if use know that..

PS to that PM fatty said to ring her any time you need a chat....

Thanks to you both Jason & Karen. It's nice to know that maybe with some care & nurturing that there's always a better outcome ahead.

Me personally ? ... I've always subscribed to the pythonesque approach ... allways look on the bright side of life! :D ... why can't everyone else take a chill pill as well ?

It's ALL good.

Thanks guys
Kev..
