Hi Karen,
Yeah Dave was a nice guy. I felt I stuffed him around a bit because he tried to ring me about 5 times (I was asleep on the couch :lol2:) Anyway he finally got me last night and he fixed me up.
Really happy with the price as was cheaper than I can get down here and saves me an hour and a half drive. All for $30 postage which I thought was a great deal - he mentioned you too and said thanks for getting him some buisness. (I'd ask him for some more freebies ,......hehehehe)

Anyway I think some of us feel a duty to you guys to prove that life isn't always crappy.:D:D:D

Cheers - I better help dinga clean up - she is giving me evil eyes.

Bye

dave said that today he took your number home and rang from home last night cause he couldn't get you

Thats OK Karen, I don't like to intrude into peoples privacy and as I wanted you and Banj to open the letter together, I thought it better to be a private moment for you. As Jason mentioned before, just take things slowly. Cheers mate and I hope the future becomes a lot brighter for you and your family!!!:D:D You have several good friends on the Forum who only wish you all the best!!!:):)

Ok been out working on fatty's crapoyta all morning & still no luck. Its starting & running with no charge light on had been running for awhile just idling, on the dash was running fine.so i reved it up went to 4k then the light came on & no more charge it was down to 11.5 so i went & played with the wiring & it went off & started to charge again so i left it running for a bit & was fine so i reved it again & the dash light came on & no charging .Couldn't get it to go off or charge again. The car has been turned off for a little bit now so i will go start it again & see if it works. I have no idea now as to what it could be i checked the wires all of then from voltage reg to battery & the fuse box under the bonet all good checked the continuity & was all fine plus a visual check & i sprayed & cleaned all the plugs is the system i could find..
Starting to look like its going to be a freebie..
Or a big bomb fire.

Hey sleeps you on those early starts at work again. You must be doing something wrong I would tell the boss ;) who does the rosters to be a little leaniant on the older work force people :p.. When Karen was up talking to boys at Kotara she asked about a spare wheel for the rover they have one with realy good tyre for $100 Karen thinks it was a 15 x 8 with a 31 x 10.5 so thats ideal, even if the rim is only 15 x 7 is fine. So they put it a side for us & fatty's going up to get it in a couple of weeks we pay it off..

Well we didn't get much sleep last night someone turned up with an enverlope . Don't know what to do yet , Still can't belive it. Its a huge, huge lot for us we never have that much around ..

Well 3 weeks in the new house & i only just went out for the first time in weeks .Only went for a quick drive around the town to see what progress has been make on the new shopping center that looks good nearly finished..Also had to go upto the industrail estate Karen said they where working on the new road threw to boolooroo . I think they are only just doing this side for more industrial shed , Probably take a couple of years to finish properly..
So thats been my day so far nothing big. I still have to work on the crapoyta YAY.. Just round the corner from the old house i drove past a car for sale was a little camery i think mite go back & have a sticky beek Fatty wants to get a smal car instead of running to 4WDs & it was only $500 ono ..
I know i'm borde****less without my garage , but i do need to mow the lawn again so i spose i could do that latter maybe  !!!..
Plus the rover needs a wash badly & a clean inside bloody kids..

banjo
10th April 2010, 05:23 PM
Well i didn't get the lawn , I didn't get the crapoyta done . I did gets some more tools out of the house & into the shed & i fixed the dogs bed i just hope he sleeps in the damn thing ..

Fatty has been walking down the road instead of taking the car & she walks the pamphlets & papers.
Well just after tea she she says to me i got a lump on my foot & her ancle has been hurting a lot latterly.
So i had a feel & it looks like theres a bone fragment floating around in her ancle.
So i recon she has broken it again at some stage so if it gets worse she will have to go back on the crutches.
Its such a comon thing for her to do that we own our own pair of crutches .
The hospital was sick of trying to find her some when she would go up there so they gave us our own pair..:wasntme:

Well the wifes away for 3 weeks in Perth shopping for a wedding for my daughter so I invited a mate over for tea
Silverside with smashed spuds, sweet potota, carrots, peas, beans and brochale. Sitting around talking about 1hr after eating and he said a port would be nice, hunted up a bottle that I reckon had been in the cubboard for 5 years (well it was half a bottle), so I dont know how long a open bottle of port will last but it sure was a sweet drop.

Well been out working on that peice of **** crapoyta allday today took the alternator out again.it was only charging at 11.8 i have checked all the wiring & plugs between the voltage reg & battery all seem fine but an auto sparky checked it & tested the alt again today said it was fine but its cold & not upto speed doing the bench test..So while it was out i looked for where all the power steering fluid was coming from & bugger me there was a bolt missing from the bottom of the pump so i gave it all a clean up & found a bolt to fit , that was that job done. So i pulled the alternator apart to see how it was & the bushes where, Well the amount of **** & grime & fluid in it wasn't funny & the bushes where next to nothing left so went back to the auto sparky & got some new ones $8 for the two.. So i cleaned it all up that was a nightmare so much **** in it, put the new bushes in it & all soldered up , Put it all back together Then fitted bac in the car.. I wasn't expecting much but after it was in & all hooked up it was time to start it.. & it did start & was charging but down a little but with the new voltage regulator we got it is adjustable so i let the car warm up & put the multimeter on it , it was 13.5 right on the bottom side of what it said it should be in the book. The book said it should be regutated voltage 13.5 to 15.1 volts..
SO inside the new voltage reg is a thing like a nob thingy that can be turned , So i set the tacho on 2000 rpm with the hand throtle nob on the dash & went & played wound it down first it went to 12.9 so slowly worked it up till it was on the 14.2 mark , left it for i minute & it dropped a little so very slowly wound it up again till it was on the 15.23 & left it & was good so i turned the hand throtle right down & off & the volts are now 14.19 to 14.2 so it was all good ..
So i turned the car off & the volts started to drop didn't leave it on long enuff to see how low But waited 20 mins & tryed to start it & it started. All this time the dash light stayed off even after some real heavy reving upto about 5k to 5.5k & still stayed off it wasn't doing this before it would allways come on & stop charging . So i put the car away for now & will go & try to start it after tea & if ok fatty going to take it for a drive for a while in our street & see how it goes & if ok will take it a bit ferther & see how it goes ..But if we are lucky it mite be ok & I CAN HAVE MY CAR BACK...

THANKS again ti all how gave advise I will let use all know how it goes ..

Normaly use free internet minimum of 3 hours a day, 15 hours a working week, and often use the net for 20 hours or so a week, so do not realy want more time, as I have things I cant find the time to do as I spend time on the net. However rather than wasting the hour I would use it up, but not renew with dodo. will e-mail you my home address.

I actually have 2 lines of work - both completely different from each other - and both providing a pretty good income singularly - combined it is good.

You know about the other one - this one is a bit stressful at times. They rang early and I have been and gone and done the job - so it's good - I'm not having to work too late.

G'Day Banj, I am interested to know who this person was, I probably know him as I had a Photo Shop in Newcastle between 1986 and 1999 which involved camera sales, photo processing and wedding photgraphy. I closed the doors because the industry was moving towards digital and the days of the "One Hour Photo Shop" had come to an end!!!:)

The more educated they are, the less likely they are to get preggers.

Statistics show that a quarter of educated kids do it with out condoms the first time or so. Years ago I was writing about AIDS, when published statistics came out saying that 15% of unwanted pregnancies who visited a Surry Hills abortion clinic had used a condom that had failed to protect them against pregnancy, as condoms have a certain degree of failure rate.

Of course It is better to use a condom than nothing, if you do not want to get pregnant.

Sleepy, your sleeping sickness must be catchy. Lay down across the seats of the Series 3 and fell a sleep a bit after 7:30 AM. Then just before 10:00 there was a policeman knocking on the window--I had left my headlights on and they just wanted to check if I was alright, as someone rang them about me.

Yesterday my hip was playing up--does not do that too often, and I did not sleep too well last night, and because it was sore, I skippped my morning walk.

On week days, normal get up at 6:00 and leave at 6:15, and get here to Coolongatta beach at 7:30. then have breakfast then a couple of kilometers walk to point danger and back three days a week [other two days do free group Exercise class], but this morning it was no walk due to hip.

They were very good cameras and I am willing to bet that, if it is mechanically sound, it'll still do the goods for you.

I used to have a 1000N and bought it over to OZ with me when I migrated. Couple of years later I gave it to a friends daughter as she needed a film camera for her photography studies at uni. You would think I had given her the holy grail - her parents shouted me meals and the like - and gave me their camper trailer!

Back home I used to use it for all sorts of photography - but primarily motor racing.

I am thinking I bought mine around 1992 or 1993 or so.

That would be about right, the Canon 1000N replaced the 500N so that would place Banjo's camera as about 1988/89 vintage!!!:)

Banjo, if the camera is clean and has been kept away from moisture, you should put new batteries in it and you can still get first class photo's with it. Film is still available and they still process film at places like K-Mart!!!:) When you store it always pack that silica-gel with it to absorb moisture. Look through the lens and make sure there is no fungus in it, if there is it can still be cleaned if it is not too bad, but of cause that costs!!!

At work they call me the South Pacific Pom

When I arrived here in 2000 (for the final time - I had been spending up to 3 months a year here since 1978) my boss told me to lose the accent; "I can sell your skills but not a Kiwi - lose the accent" so I had to learn to speak differently :)

Yeah Aus i thinking of it as aldi has this little scanner to put your pics on the puter for about $40 & its not much bigger than a standard stills picture..

G'day all,

My old man had a device for scanning negatives. It was a plastic do-dad (technical eh?) that you slide the negatives into and then place on top of the scanner. (Worked for slides too) I think it might have had a backlight arragement too.

Then software can reverse it to postive. Worked pretty well.

There is a Maori guy in Burraga who does a pretty decent hangi. They can all sing - and the more the merrier. Fun times.

They are getting very popular - especially amongst the age group who have thousands of slides stacked away and now are really into sharing the family pics via computer. With places like Momento around they can make coffee table books of their old memories. I keep threatening my kids that I am going to do that for Christmas presents for them :D

G'Day Shaun, welcome to the "Embarrassments" thread, sorry to hear of your partners problems but I am sure your partner and Banjo could be a good support for each other via the internet. I am the only one on the thread that lives near Banjo, so I get to talk to him personally every now and again and being aware of Banjo's situation I have noticed a very steady improvement since he "outed" himself a few months back. Banjo has made some very good friends here and we all wish him a steady recovery and look forward to a time when Banjo can live a "reasonably" normal life. Good on you mate for making yourself known and maybe you can talk your partner into posting some details about herself, who knows maybe "Dr Banjo" can help!!!!:):)

WOW 16 & to have a good head on your shoulders is a rearaty these days..
Your partner is so youg to be going threw this. I guess i have always had my problem ( Agrophobia ) it just presented itself when i was about your age , My world came crashing down around me in such a big way its very hard to explain how or why it just did..I am now 38 yrs of age & still dealing with it. I have been told by the experts that i will never cure it but over time i will be able to control it which to be honest scares the **** out of me , To know that i will have to live with this for the rest of my life & put FATTY & the KIDS through so much more it kills me, Karen & the kids have given up & sacrefised so much to help me that they dont have a fully normal life & that fatty is just now starting to be able to go out with some of her friends..See when we first started dating i was extreemly jelouse if she went out mainly because all of my previous girlfriends & i split up because of my family as i was told by a family member that they where doing this & that with other men .Because this family member didn't like the idea of me being with them so thats how they got rid of them & it always looked like i dumped them which i did but i didn't realy have to , Oh i know what i meen.. Since i have "outed" myself on here i have made progress i now do a bit more with the kids I make an effort to try & get out that doesn't allways work but i am making an effort. Karen does all my running around for parts & anything in general even making phone calls , Although i have started to make my own calls to get prices on things instead of waiting for fatty to come home & do it for me..I am lucky as fatty is so strong to keep this family together , Put it this way if fatty died tomorrow my world would completely crash down in a bigger way than before as i would stand to lose my kids as i can't see my family standing in to help out & i have no dout the family services would deem me unfit to care for our kids..& on the progress side of things i now don't suffer depression every second day its only about once a week which is good but still bad as the depression i suffer i get really angry with myself & everyone around me suffers & i get suicidal thoughts not that i would do anything i just mainly wish i was dead sometimes well alot when in a depressed state.... & i don't get as nurvouse as much & i haven't had a panic attack for a long time , Now theres a lot that can set one of those off but the quickest is beleave it or not is the smell of beer or a drunk person. NOW as for trusting people thats something totaly new to me i do not trust any body outside of fatty , But with that said . YES i have made some friends & yes some strong friends BUT remember my little Black book well the names in that & the contact details ARE now what i call my BEST friends i would trust these guys with my life , Now that is a huge statement from me . Now i meen that by if i was working on my car & say i cut a finger off I would panic to no end & if i couldn't get hold of fatty i would ring each of them till i got hold of one of them even though they mite be interstate they could help as i have been told that a masive panic attack could send me into a heartattack, Oh & not because i smoke but because my heart beats so hard it could fail so yes i trust them with my life & use know who use are. i have even spoke in person & on the phone with them..WOW huge improvement from what i was like before "outing" myself..OH & on that other matter (the envolope) its still in the draw & fatty wants to talk to use as we still don't know what to do with it..I was allways belittled in front of people so its hard for me to have a conversation as the way my mind works i have know idea if someone was doing this as it would just feel normall..
The only people that fatty lets take the **** out of me is you guys as she is very protective of that as i dont stand up formyself i just go very quiet & let it go , thinking it was something i did & deserved..

SHAUNH if my story can in anyway help your partner that would be awesome & i hope you can keep posting here & that maybe your partner as well, I would be more than happy to have a chat with her through the net (email) if you think in anyway i mite be able to help her..
I will PM you with some stuff soon..
And i hope you stay in touch through here..

THANKS
Jason & Karen

i will do all i can to make erickas life easier, ill always be there for here throught thick and thin, sadly i do so much and i cant see much improvement good days can be turned to all time lows in seconds for her shes very sensitive and so am i, i talked to her about emailing you banjo and she said she didnt want to, im not going to push the matter ill try again another time and hope she sees its ok, trust is probably the biggest problem for her and only 2 people in her life know everything thats me and our best firend sandi, sandi is her strongest foundation theyve know each other since they were 3. ill try to get her to see the light that is AULRO and its members to know that people can be so supportive is just great and can not thank you enough banjo. erickas not one to speak openly about her feelings or to anyone shed doesnt know. school is one of the most painful things i can not count how many days i have missed. the school board and principal have bee so supportive and we are in most of the same classes.

once again i can not thank you guys enough

Hi shaunh yeah never push it only makes things very bad. I used to be pushed by the family & i was realy bad for it & so called friends where the same . The guys on here don't expect of me & do not push me , There for we get on like a house on fire they all make karen & i laugh which is good haven't done that for awhile..
I realy hope Ericka is able to control it at her young age , As it is such a debilitating phobia & stretches friends , Families & relastionships to the brink.I didn't realy want to tell my story but the guys on here are so happy to help when i was having trouble with the car & i had so many offers of to come over & help & i didn't think it right to leed them on so i told my story..
But if you wouldn't mind you could keep me (us) updated on any progress she can make or even her bad days i would like that . She is so young ..

I fully support what Banjo has said, if you can just encourage Ericka to even look at this thread, it might assist her to realise there are other people out there suffering too and just sharing experiences might help. I am not a sufferer by the way, and I am a lot older than Banjo, but if you read the earlier posts on this thread you will see what my experiences have been!!!:) I am here as a supporter, as I went through a lot of similiar experiences early in my life to Banjo!!:)

Welcome to shaunh, come a join in the fun. The good thing about this thread is we are all Embarressments in our own special way, so it makes it easy to not be emabaressed. (I hope that makes sense!!)

Good luck with ericka - the one thing I have learnt - dont rush it. Good days follow bad days and vica versa - What you got to work towards is managing the bad days and celebrating the good days.
Hope your Grandad is ok - I dont know what that condition is but I am sure they will give him the best care they can.

Well i have had one of those crapy LOW days today . Sitting around on my own does wonders for depression. And to top it off Karens boss for the pamphlets has now blackmailed her into doing more houses a few hundred more. Has to do it or loose the run we have so i'm not happy about that. Well i'm at that stage where i am ready to sell the rover & 99% of me tools..Its like Karen allways tell me our lives will never change , I will never be able to go away on a camping trip as i have enuff trouble just getting out to go down the road & i never go anywhere on my own.My car is up for rego & the check we got back from our electric bill Karen used some to pay bills ,Still have enuff to put 6mths on it .so i think i will do that then just sell it.I dought i will get another one so i mite as well get rid of most of my tools I will keep my big toolbox with all my spanners & stuff but everything else can go. That way when Karens car goes we can just get a small car , Much cheaper to run & all..Starting to clean out all my landrover mags have a bookshelf full of landrover monthly & owner international..Plus i will have to go through all the other landrover crap i have colected over time.. It mite be just that i'm getting itchy feet not doing anything posably :( .. Hey JohnF those PMs where interesting I sent you one back about one of the paragraphs that rings home for me...

The real good stuff, gory pics and footage, should be coming out in the doco - I'm not sure how long before thats ready, or if any of the TV channels will pick it up, but there are heaps of awesome stories and great moments that were caught on film over the course of the trip. Unfortunately for the doco, my accident wasn't on film, just the aftermath!

Up in the Maitland area today, so I called in to see the Freelander, quick check over, every thing seems OK, will pick it up tomorrow.
Couple of little niggles, petrol tank nearly empty, was full when I turned the car over for repair. Car needs a wash, would've thought they would have done that after what they put me through. Would have appreciated a 90,000K service as a "public relations" gesture, so I have purchased some good quality synthetic oil and a filter and will do an oil change tomorrow.
Its not the bloke at Maitland's fault over the whole sorry saga although I have bent his ear a couple of times when I have been a bit gnarly.
Anyrate pickup the car tomorrow and looking forward to a little bit of trouble free motoring for a while!!!!:):)

That great news . We hope its all smooth from now on..
I put my old holden in to get a box rebuilt years ago , It took them 3 weeks & i couldn't work out why & they just kept telling us they where waiting on parts. Anyway i was out doing a delivery for work oneday & seen this nice old HJ coming towards me & it sounded sweet then when it got close i had a look at the number plate , Hey thats my freakin car so i did the delivery i had to do then on the way back i seen it again so i followed it & when he stoped I said WTF are you doing with my car , Its not yours i borrowed it from a mate so i opend the boot & said so is it still not mine na mate its my mates. So i reset the kill switches as there where 4 of them all hooked up together & said fine see if it starts with your key he tryed it nothing ..The kill switches had to be in a sertain way for it to start ..Well they had to get it towed back to the bloke who was to rebuild the box at there expence he wasn't happy..Then i rolled up the next day & gave him an ear full & refused to pay the bill & he said see you in court no worries i took a photo of the car while your mate was driving & it no where near your place of work so you cant say it was a test drive Plus i know the tow truck driver who picked it up..He gave me the keys & said ****off.. So i flicked all the kill switches to where they needed to be & it was fine & i drove away . The bloke was dumb founded when i did that & just drove away..They couldn't work it out the combo for the switches...

Banjo, once Winston Churchill was asked to give a speech to University Students on the secret of his success. I will admit that is the only speech that Churchill gave that I have memorised. I will quote it entirely exactly how Churchill gave it, as I have memorized Churchill's speech. Hoping it helps you.

Churchill rose and went to the lectern and said:--

"Never give up, Never give Up.
Never never, never give up."

And then Churchill sat down.

They had been driving the bloody thing around for nearly 2 weeks . They had disconected the speedo from the box so it wouldn't count on the odometer , Only found out driving it home cause i court them out they didn't have time to refit it..
That's why i hate taking my cars to anyone..
That lady friend of ours we used to have took her brandnew mazda to get it serviced it was only the third service since it was new.Probably a year to a year & half old. She had a list of what they had done .
New oil & filters
New brake pads front & rear
Adjusted handbrake
And so on.
She asked me to have alook & just check this was when she had just picked it up from the service. Checked the oil it was old But they did change the oil filter..
Checked the air filter they must of started to change it , Then they must of got called to do something else cause there was none in it..
They did the rear pads but not the front they where about half down & i know the rear ones wheren't as bad but they only done the rear..

It allways pays to check even if you have been going to the same guy for years..

Man, I would love one particularly the diesel. A second hand one was advertised up this way for $39,990, goes to show how they hold their value, they are very rare on the second hand market and yes a new one is 60+ big ones!!!!:o You can buy a second hand Jeep Cherokee of a similiar vintage for about $20,000 and they are a good vehicle too!!!:)

The airfield is owned and operated by an Aeronautics University.
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms'msa=0&msid=112355180610401335942.000470a82370b7de4eeea&sll=53.800651,-4.064941&sspn=18.77642,32.475586&ie=UTF8&ll=51.116387,-0.543909&spn=0.009712,0.015857&t=h&z=16

The Dunsfold Collection doesn't have a museum. The collection vehicles are stored in various barns and sheds around the area. Viewing is by arrangement only. Every two years or so we get most of them out and show them off at a weekend event.
Recently a large hanger came up for sale at the airfield. Perfect for housing and showing the collection. We had a whipround but were just a 'few' bob short of the million quid they wanted for it :(
Roll on that lottery win

Yeah I like freelanders too. I once had a Subaru Brumby and it was an awesome machine - much more capable than many would think. Drove mine to cape york (on the telegraph track) way back in 1986. Didn't miss a beat - until I drowned it in the Wenlock and put the plug leads back on the wrong way. Always thought a freelander would be good fun too - along the same lines as the Brumby. You can get 'em pretty cheap 2nd hand - yeah they have a few weak points - but what doesn't. I always liked the little 2 door soft tops.
