For those of you to young to remember.
Gus and two other astronauts were incinerated in a capsule fire back in the sixty's.
This was back in the days when they were using pure oxygen in the space craft. The oxygen was highly combustible.
You can imagine the sounds coming in over the radio as the fire took hold.

Poor Buggers.

Yes I know but perhaps there are some that dont.
I also did not name the other two fellows that died in that capsule.

Reason being that it might spark an inquiring mind to seek out the story and what caused it to happened.
They would learn something that would stick with them.

Learning something new everday is a wonderous thing, especially for the younger. It adds wonder to the who, what and why.

As an aside, years ago I saw photo's of the inside of that capsule before the bodies were removed and I heard the cries on the tape recorded at the time.
Horrible.
I sometimes wondered if there were similar accidents on submarines and things using oxygen in the earlier days.
Perhaps the knowledge was already known and NASA ignored it ?

At least those Blokes did not die in vain as NASA and the world learnt a valuable lesson.

Cheers.

IIRC, it was a litany of design problems and choices, of which velcro was but one. Suspect workmanship may have contributed too.
Just like many aircraft crashes, a flockof ducks all in a row, any one of which could have broken the line....

I think the original was from Steve McCurry....or something like that.

Impressive video - but here's my problem with people doing risky things like that. If he falls - think of all the people who will have to get involved. Police, rescue, paramedics etc. All affected by what they see. Then there's the extra red-tape that will get implemented to 'secure' cranes. Extra hassle.

I don't think the paramedics would have been needed if that went **** up...:D. And if someone jumps a securely locked fence to access something like that, there is no liability for the owner of the equipment, and Darwin claims another victim...:)

I certainly don't condone it, but it was amazing footage.

the HST wanabe moscovite rag, printed. Although the games or the construction for the games has been good for the economy, what happens after? Since the west has no intelligence on how Russian economics work, there will be a lot of complaints by them. But the Russian works well for Russians. How else can a policemen with a salary of 15000rub a month pay his rent of 20000rub a month without his chef negotiating for his services. or a 10 000 rub fireman for the same reasons. Why should his chef not demand an extra 2000000 rub to distribute to dependents ( means firemen and staff) ( my translation)

Russia is a different place with different morals and a totally different economic system. the biggest or main business is ripping off the government which government officials let happen because they get a drink out of it as well. If this dint happen the place would collapse
Boris Fyodorov - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia minister of finance 1990is stated in 1992ish that Russia had two options in moving from the soviet system to a capitalist system. 1 Bloody revolution, 2 criminal.
they chose the latter because there would be less blood

You're putting a new meaning to the term "long drop toilet". Yeah, I know, toilet humour.

Worked at Seaworld in the late 80s, at the peak of Japanese tourism. Often used to find footprints on the toilet seats from Asian tourists using our loos as squats.:p

BTW these squat loos can be quite common in poorer/southern parts of Europe. The Brits used to call them Continental Loos for a reason. I've seen them in southern Italy & Greece, and even one in a small rural town in France.

That wasn't bad but I had a look at those options that appear at the end of it. If you do a youtube search of Range Rover Cliff hanger (small "h") you'll see some blokes get themselves into a bad spot. Be warned there's a bit of bad language in the audio which is why I didn't post a link.

Definitely Karen Pini.
She later became the Lotto presenter.
Delvine was blonde and, I think, was one of the Sale of the Century girls when Tony Barbar was on.

The EPAM trace is starting to rise. This could indicate the CME is getting closer to the ACE spacecraft.

The NOAA has a G1 Minor Storm watch out for today.

I would say that they have purposely locked the trigger on as this is at full pelt - even when using the high pressure setting you have to pull the trigger to get the full effect.
Would you not just walk over to the control panel and change settings - like to the brush, then retrieve it?

She is probably still a beautiful woman.
I kept her Playboy edition for years and years.

I thought it was Delvine Delaney.

You are correct, it is Delvine. I can remember seeing this when it was shown, very early eighties Paul Hogan Show.

I would have it stored away in the cupboard on one of my old Beta tapes.

I will stand corrected. I used to watch these shows years ago and Delvine was nearly always used when clips like these were done.

Karen Pini I do not remember, but I did some research and and she was used, so as has been suggested it is probably her.
