I believe that the one that looked like a set of Venetian blinds hopped a bit. It is now disputed that the Wright brothers was real powered flight due to the wind speed. Also there first plane bent the wings to act like ailerons, this later tested was found to not work.

Really? I thought they did lots of flying with "wing warping" control as it was called. So, it "works" up to a point.
However, it does have some disadvantages, not the least of which is that the structure has to be flexible enough to twist, which has interesting results at higher speeds when "flutter" sets in...

Andersen AFB, Guam?

Here's a great photo of United States Air Force, Royal Australian Air Force and JASDF combined air forces flying over Andersen Air Force Base, Guam during #COPENORTH16.

The formation included a Boeing B-52 Stratofortress, Boeing F/A-18E/F Super Hornet, F-2, F-15J, F-16 Fighting Falcon and an EA-18G Growler.

Before offering an opinion, I (wisely...) consulted the Oracle, and SWMBO declared that the inventor of this useful piece of re-cycling was obviously 'Not married'.

When presented with differing scenerios, such as 'what would happen if he was already married...and he did this ?' The answer was a most emphatic...

"He's NOT married....."

'We' prefer to warm our house with Reverse-Cycle A/c... :p

I shouldn't have spent 10 minutes trying to work that out with algebra and a lot of swearing, but I resign to the fact that my brain doesn't work that way...

From what I've crunched (using the above key for rabbit cat and dog):

R+2C=D

That's as far as I got.
How did you work it out ron?

if the championship starts with 100 players, how many games are played?

99. The first two play and then the winner plays the third. That continues through the remaining 97 players.

Alternatively, if everyone plays someone else (ie 50 games to start) then you have 50 winners, then you have 25 games and 25 left. You cant split 25 so you could then do it a number of ways, but in this case lets say 12 games plus the left over player plays one of the winners (so 13 games that round) then you have 6 games, then 3. With the three remaining two play then the winner plays the remaining player.

50+25+12+1+6+3+2=99

Thats why tournaments always have 2^? players eg 32. That becomes 16,8,4,2,1 nice and neat!

Cheers

Dan

Ten red socks and ten blue socks are all mixed up in a drawer. The 20 socks are exactly alike except for their colour. The room is in pitch darkness and you want two matching socks. What is the smallest number of socks you must take out of the drawer in order to be certain that you have a pair that match?

OK, I'll come in. This is how my dyslexic brain did it.

When the cat and rabbit are weighed together with the dog there is a difference of 4.

Therefore if the cat and rabbit weigh 10 together, you take away 4 from 10 and half it. This leaves one weighing 3. So the other must weigh 3+4=7.

From here you get cat is 7 and rabbit is 3.

On 5 December 2012, Baltic Ace collided with the Cyprus-registered container ship Corvus J in the North Sea while underway from Zeebrugge, Belgium, to Kotka, Finland with a cargo of about 1,400 Mitsubishi cars likely headed to the Russian market.[8] The incident took place some 40?50 kilometres (25?31 mi) off the Dutch coast south of Rotterdam on one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world at 18:15 GMT. According to a representative of the shipping company, the cause of the accident was likely a human error.[9][10]

After the collision, Baltic Ace began taking on water, capsized and sank within 15 minutes in shallow waters. According to the ship's manager, Corvus J likely hit Baltic Ace on the side, where void tanks forming a double side are only 1.3 metres (4.3 ft) wide,[4] quickly flooding the cargo decks.[11][12] Corvus J was severely damaged and her bulbous bow was bent,[13] but she was not in danger of sinking and participated in the search for survivors.

SOME UNUSUAL CARS: BUT STILL WORTH BIG DOLLARS.

THE 1954 OLDS DIDN'T MAKE IT BUT WAS AUCTIONED OFF FOR $6,000,000.00 IN ARIZONA BY BARRETT JACKSON.

They were pure fantasy on wheels, machines designed to make the heart race and the mind ask, "What if?"

These 1950s concept cars were automotive art built to attract public attention,
test wild engineering ideas and give motorists a fleeting glimpse down the highway of tomorrow.
